Jayson Werth left Sunday's game against the Rockies with an apparent left leg injury.

It was Werth's right hamstring that caused him to miss over a month of action, so this appears to be a new ailment. The Nationals should provide an update on his status before long.

Aaron Sanchez could get more multi-inning save chances down the stretch for the Blue Jays.

Sanchez has been dominant out of the Toronto bullpen since his July 22 promotion and Jays closer Casey Janssen is in a bit of a slump. "We're trying to maximize who [Sanchez] is," manager John Gibbons said this weekend. "So if he goes out there and he's got one inning under his belt and it's easy, we're going to ride him." Sanchez earned six outs for his first major league save Saturday against the Yankees.

Jesse Hahn is doubtful to get a start this month.

MLB.com's Corey Brock suspects that the Padres will use the rookie right-hander in a long relief role the rest of the way. Hahn has registered 114 1/3 innings this season between the minors and majors -- well above the 69 innings he threw in 2013. San Diego is being extra careful with the 25-year-old. Dump him in redraft leagues.

Brewers activated RHP Matt Garza from the 15-day disabled list.

Garza will return to the Brewers' starting rotation on Wednesday at Wrigley Field after missing about a month with a left oblique strain. He was in a groove before the injury and should be a decent source of fantasy value down the stretch. The 30-year-old righty has a 3.58 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 104/43 K/BB ratio in 145 2/3 innings this season.

Sunday's series finale between the Indians and Royals has been suspended in the 10th inning due to inclement weather and will resume on September 22 in Cleveland.

Just before play was suspended, Lonnie Chisenhall delivered a pinch-hit two-out, two-run double in the 10th inning to give the Tribe a 4-2 lead. In the meanwhile, the Royals will remain a 1/2 game ahead of the Tigers in the American League Central.

Pablo Sandoval went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in the Giants' lopsided 15-5 win over the Brewers on Sunday.

Blue Jays acquired OF John Mayberry from the Phillies for INF Gustavo Pierre.

Mayberry, who has been on a minor league rehab assignment as he recovers from wrist inflammation, has made a career of slugging against left-handers and should find a platoon role with the Blue Jays once healthy.
Aug 31 - 9:45 PM

Hunter Pence had a huge day Sunday, going 4-for-5 with three extra base hits, two RBI and three runs scored against the Brewers.

Pence smacked two doubles and a triple in the win, giving him 10 triples on the year. He's up to 95 runs scored with the three-run effort, second-most in the National League. Pence is also working on a 13-game hitting streak, raising his overall line to .294/.346/.477.

Alex Wood was dominant in Sunday's victory over the Marlins, racking up 12 strikeouts over eight scoreless innings.

Hyun-Jin Ryu was stellar in his return to the rotation Sunday, limiting the Padres to four hits and one run in the Dodgers' 7-1 win.

The left-hander moved to 14-6 with a 3.18 ERA with the victory. He's got another favorable matchup upcoming, meeting up with the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
