Jordan Zimmermann won his 11th game on Wednesday, allowing two runs over seven innings in the Nationals' 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

The right-hander just keeps on doing his thing, as he held the Diamondbacks to three hits and two walks while striking out four. He's now 11-3 with a 2.28 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Zimmermann takes on the Brewers next on Monday.

Juan Soto hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning to lead the Nationals to a 4-2 win over the Orioles on Thursday.

Mychal Givens, in his second inning of work, allowed a Bryce Harper double and a Trea Turner single before Soto stepped to the dish with one out. The 19-year-old then slapped an opposite-field double into the gap to plate both. Soto continues to impress and hold his own through 28 games in the bigs, batting .326/.426/.598 with six homers, 16 RBI and 18 runs scored. He's not going anywhere any time soon.

Updating an earlier report, Lorenzo Cain left Thursday's game against the Cardinals with a right hamstring cramp.

According to the Brewers, his removal was "precautionary." Cain was seen watching the game from the dugout after his departure, which would also suggest the injury isn't serious. He should be back in there on Friday.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons acknowledged that Jaime Garcia could be moved to the bullpen.

The left-hander has been dreadful this year (6.16 ERA in 13 starts) and could lose his spot in the starting rotation with Marcus Stroman (shoulder) slated to return this weekend. Sam Gaviglio would likely be called on Sunday against the Angels if Garcia is indeed demoted to a long relief role.

Johnny Cueto (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

He's finally ready for game action after sitting out the past two months with a sprained elbow. Cueto will need three rehab outings to build up his pitch count after missing so much time (he's slated to throw 40 pitches on Saturday). The 32-year-old was off to a stellar start before his injury, logging a 0.84 ERA over 32 innings in March and April.
Jun 21 - 7:52 PM

Tyler Skaggs has been scratched from Thursday's start against the Blue Jays due to right hamstring tightness.

Left-hander John Lamb will start in his place. The Angels are labeling Skaggs "day-to-day" and plan to reevaluate him on Friday. The left-hander has pitched well this year, compiling a 2.81 ERA with a 9.68 K/9 over 14 starts for the Halos.

Giants activated SS Brandon Crawford from the paternity leave list.

He'll start at shortstop and hit fifth Thursday against the Padres. Crawford's wife, Jalynne, gave birth to the couple's fourth child earlier this week. The 31-year-old is in the midst of a career year, slashing .315/.370/.492 with eight homers over 248 at-bats. To make room for him, the Giants optioned Kelby Tomlinson to Triple-A.

Mike Trout is dealing with a sprained right index finger.

Don't panic, folks. Trout will DH and bat second Thursday against Toronto. The injury has prevented Trout from throwing, though obviously it hasn't affected him at the plate. The 26-year-old will DH for now but expects to return to his usual post in center field in a matter of days. The two-time MVP has hit an impossible .448 this month and leads the majors in homers (23), runs (60), walks (64), OPS (1.158) and wins above replacement (6.6). Yeah, he's good.
Jun 21 - 6:24 PM

Ronald Acuna (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Acuna is finally nearing a return from a sprained ACL he suffered late last month. Considered by many to be the top prospect in baseball, the 20-year-old Venezuela native has slashed .265/.326/.453 with five homers in 117 at-bats for Atlanta this year. If all goes well in Gwinnett, he could be activated for Monday's series opener against Cincinnati.
Jun 21 - 5:55 PM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Chris Davis will return to the starting lineup Friday against the Braves.

He'll be returning from an eight-game absence. Nothing has gone right for Davis, who has hit a cataclysmic .150 with 86 strikeouts in 207 at-bats this season. Hopefully the extended rest gave Davis some time to clear his head. Regardless, he shouldn't be anywhere near a fantasy lineup right now.
Jun 21 - 5:53 PM

Jose Martinez (shoulder) is in the Cardinals' lineup Thursday against the Brewers.

Martinez tweaked his shoulder in Wednesday's loss to Philadelphia but is good to go for Thursday's opener. The 29-year-old has been a stud this month, hitting .385 with five homers and 13 RBI across 52 June at-bats. He'll get the nod at first base and bat third against Brewers lefty Brent Suter.

MLB suspended Marlins RHP Dan Straily five games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally hitting Buster Posey during Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly was assessed a one-game ban. Straily is appealing his suspension. No Giants, including Hunter Strickland, who plunked Lewis Brinson with a pitch on Monday night, were disciplined. Straily's next start is scheduled for Monday against the Diamondbacks.
