Jorge Soler has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left tibia and could be done for the year.

Soler suffered the injury earlier this month at High-A Daytona when he fouled a ball off his left leg. He will be in a walking boot for at least 4-6 weeks. The 21-year-old outfield prospect was batting .281/.343/.467 with eight home runs, five stolen bases and 35 RBI through 55 games this season in the Florida State League.

Domingo Santana (lat) is out again Thursday.

It's his third absence in Milwaukee's last four games. Santana is battling some mild soreness around his right lat and the Brewers don't want to risk it turning into something more. Alex Presley will get another start in right field Thursday versus the Reds.

Jason Heyward (wrist) is out of the Cubs' starting lineup again on Thursday.

Heyward is still dealing with discomfort in his right wrist and hasn't played since Sunday, when he went 0-for-5 against the Braves. Kris Bryant is in right field and Tommy La Stella is at third base Thursday in the Cubs' big series opener against the Nationals.
May 5 - 3:06 PM

Matt Adams has been diagnosed with a knee contusion.

Adams suffered the bruise Thursday in an awkward collision at first base with the Phillies' Darin Ruf. The big left-handed swinger is considered day-to-day for now. Brandon Moss moved from left field to first base and Jeremy Hazelbaker took over in left.
May 5 - 3:01 PM

Billy Hamilton (thumb) is back in the Reds' starting lineup Thursday against the Brewers.

Hamilton has been in and out of the Reds' lineup over the last couple of weeks because of a jammed left thumb. The 25-year-old center fielder was able to serve as a late-inning defensive replacement on Wednesday night and he will bat second Thursday versus Brewers right-hander Chase Anderson.
May 5 - 1:12 PM

Aledmys Diaz is out of the Cardinals' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Phillies.

Diaz finally got to hit higher than seventh on Wednesday night, serving as the Cardinals' leadoff man in a 5-4 victory, but he'll take a day of rest Thursday versus Phillies right-hander Jerad Eickhoff. Ruben Tejada is playing shortstop and batting eighth.
May 5 - 11:15 AM

Maikel Franco is getting a day off Thursday.

The young third baseman is in a 2-for-22 slump, so he'll take a day of mental and physical rest in Thursday afternoon's series finale in St. Louis. Andres Blanco is starting at the hot corner and batting third versus Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, Braves officials "have been forced to at least discuss whether it makes sense to make a managerial change."

No manager can be expected to win with this current Braves roster, but then again nobody expected Fredi Gonzalez to survive the club's aggressive top-to-bottom rebuild. 2016 is Fredi's sixth year on the job and the Braves stand 7-20 on the season after falling 8-0 to the Mets on Wednesday afternoon. It might not be fair, but maybe it is time for something different. Bowman says bullpen coach Eddie Perez would likely be given managerial duties on an interim basis.
May 5 - 9:56 AM

Brad Boxberger (abdomen) is on track to begin a minor league rehab assignment next Thursday.

He'll work a pair of simulated appearances first -- one Friday and one Monday -- at the Rays' spring training complex in Port Charlotte, Florida. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says Boxberger is probably going to be asked to make six minor league appearances before the Rays consider activating him from the disabled list. He's been out all season after undergoing core muscle surgery in mid-March. Alex Colome is serving as Tampa Bay's fill-in closer.
May 5 - 9:06 AM

Carlos Correa went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI in the Astros' 16-4 rout of the Twins on Wednesday.

Correa was due to bust out with one of these; since hitting two home runs on April 6 he had remained quiet, going 23 straight games without a homer. There was no way American League pitchers were going to keep him down for much longer. He's back up to .276/.388/.469 for the year now.
May 5 - 12:19 AM

Jacoby Ellsbury was perfect on Wednesday night, going 3-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases against the Orioles.

Ellsbury turned back the clocks and reminded us how dynamic he can be on the baseball diamond. He's now hitting .271/.327/.396 with seven stolen bases. Fantasy owners desperately want the power to return, but the 32-year-old is showing that he can still be an effective fantasy player with a good batting average and the potential for 30-plus steals.
May 4 - 11:12 PM

After being hit on the right elbow by a pitch in Wednesday's win over the Orioles, Brett Gardner's X-rays came back negative.

Gardner was plunked on the elbow in the top of the eighth inning. It actually resulted in an RBI for the run-hungry Yankees, as the bases were loaded at the time. He would stay in the game before being lifted for defensive replacement Dustin Ackley in the ninth. After the win, manager Joe Girardi said that the speedy outfielder was "pretty sore." Consider him day-to-day moving forward unless the Yankees indicate otherwise.
