Robinson Cano slugged his 20th home run of the season Tuesday in the Yankees' win over the Twins.

Cano singled in the fourth inning and then hit a three-run shot in the seventh. The star second baseman is working on a streak of five straight multi-hit games and owns a stellar .295/.372/.537 batting line for the season.

Kevin Gausman fired 7 2/3 scoreless innings Saturday as the Orioles defeated the Rays 5-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

It was his first win in 13 starts this season. Gausman was brilliant, giving up just four hits (all of them singles) while walking none and striking out seven. It was just the second time he had completed seven innings in a start this season. He had allowed 10 runs over his last two starts, so the gem was nice to see. We know the talent is there, but consistency continues to be an issue. The 25-year-old will bring a 3.93 ERA into a start against the Mariners next Friday on the road.

A.J. Reed will DH and bat sixth Saturday in his major league debut against the Royals.

He has an enticing matchup against light-throwing veteran Chris Young. Reed was called up to the majors after hitting .266 with 11 HR and 36 RBI in 59 games for Triple-A Fresno. He was among the top hitters in minor league baseball last season when he clobbered 34 HR in 135 games between High-A Lancaster and Double-A Corpus Christi. Reed could stay in the majors for good if he gets off to a hot start.
Jun 25 - 4:25 PM

Jose Abreu (leg) returned to the starting lineup Saturday against the the Blue Jays.

Abreu sat out Friday's game due to leg fatigue, but it's not a major concern. After a slow start to the season, the slugger is batting .333 with five homers and 20 RBI this month.
Jun 25 - 4:14 PM

Gregory Polanco (leg) remains out of the starting lineup Saturday versus the Dodgers.

Polanco is dealing with some discomfort in his left leg and apparently needs at least another day. Matt Joyce is getting another start in right field.
Jun 25 - 3:37 PM

Mets optioned OF Michael Conforto to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The move is now official. Conforto has struggled miserably over the past two months while also dealing with a wrist injury. Just getting into a lower-pressure environment and getting a chance to reset could be the best thing for him. He should be back soon if he swings the bat well.
Jun 25 - 3:26 PM

Royals activated OF Alex Gordon from the 15-day disabled list.

Gordon has been sidelined since May 23 due to a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand, but he was cleared to return after batting .364 (8-for-22) with a homer, a double, and five walks over six minor league rehab games. He'll return to a .211/.319/.331 batting line over 42 games.
Jun 25 - 2:41 PM

Mets signed INF Jose Reyes to a minor league contract.

Reyes became a free agent at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday and it didn't take him long to officially reunite with the Mets. The plan calls for him to report to Class A Brooklyn on Sunday, where he's expected to play multiple positions before eventually joining the Mets in a utility role. The 33-year-old owns a .709 OPS since the start of 2014 and is coming off a suspension for a domestic violence incident with his wife, but the Mets are willing to take a chance on him to add some athleticism to their roster. "As I have expressed in the past, I deeply regret the incident that occurred and remain remorseful and apologetic to my family," Reyes said in a statement. "I have completed the counseling required by MLB, have been in ongoing therapy, and will continue with counseling going forward. I appreciate the Mets organization for believing in me and providing the opportunity to come back home to New York."

Jake Lamb is not in Saturday's lineup versus the Rockies.

He'll sit against left-hander Jorge De La Rosa. Brandon Drury will start at third base and bat seventh.
Jun 25 - 1:34 PM

The Mets are expected to call up prospect outfielder Brandon Nimmo on Saturday.

He's set to replace Michael Conforto, who will reportedly be demoted. The Mets' first-round pick from 2011, Nimmo has put himself back on the prospect map this season by batting .328/.409/.508 with five home runs, 37 RBI, and five stolen bases over 63 games this season in Triple-A. Of course, those numbers are in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, so they have to be taken with a grain of salt, but he figures to see plenty of playing time in the Mets' outfielder now that Conforto is headed to the minors. He's more of a wait-and-see option in mixed fantasy leagues, but he should be owned in NL-only formats.
Jun 25 - 1:06 PM

Willson Contreras will start in left field Saturday against the Marlins.

Anthony Rizzo and Miguel Montero are back in action on Saturday, but the Cubs want to keep the hot-hitting Contreras in the lineup. The 24-year-old is batting .412 (7-for-17) with three homers and eight RBI over seven games since his promotion from Triple-A. There was a question about how much playing time he would get, but the Cubs have shown a willingness to test his versatility, which only enhances his fantasy appeal at the moment. Contreras hasn't played in the outfield since 2013 with Class A Kane County.
Jun 25 - 12:43 PM

Ben Zobrist is not in Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.

Zobrist suffered a bruised left ankle when he was hit by a pitch on Friday. Consider him day-to-day. Javy Baez will start at second base and bat fifth against Paul Clemens.
