Rick Porcello delivered a terrific performance in Friday’s victory over the Indians, allowing just five hits and a pair of walks over seven scoreless frames.

Porcello struck out six in the impressive outing. He kept the Tribe hitters off balance for most of the evening, allowing just one extra-base hit. He’ll carry a 5-6 record, 4.82 ERA and 74/19 K/BB ratio through 93 1/3 innings into his next outing. Depending on when he serves his pending suspension, that start should occur sometime next weekend at home against the Rangers.

Kris Bryant left Wednesday's game against the Nationals due to a possible ankle injury.

Bryant was tracking a pop up in the fifth inning when he tripped over third base. He was noticeably limping when he walked off into the clubhouse with the trainer. The Cubs should pass along an update on the severity of Bryant's injury in due time.

Edwin Diaz blew his third game of the season by allowing two runs in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Phillies.

Diaz came on with the Mariners clinging to a 4-3 lead. That would not last for long, as he coughed up a solo homer to Tommy Joseph to lead off the ninth inning. Following a pair of strikeouts, Diaz walked Cameron Perkins, balked him over to second and then surrendered a go-ahead RBI single to Andrew Knapp. Diaz has allowed six runs in his last 1 1/3 innings, but after the game, manager Scott Servais said that he would remain at closer moving forward.

Chase Anderson left Wednesday's game against the Reds due to a left oblique strain.

Anderson appeared to suffer the injury while striking out swinging in the second inning. Obliques are notoriously difficult injuries to gauge when it comes to a timetable for a return. A stint on the disabled list will probably be needed, here.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi told Meredith Marakovits that the team is concerned that Greg Bird (ankle, knee) may not be able to return this season.

Bird continues to feel soreness in his foot and ankle. He also fouled a ball off his right knee during a minor league rehab assignment earlier this month, as if the first baseman needed another issue. Bird has played in just 19 games this season. Chris Carter, who was outrighted to Triple-A, might see a call up soon, particularly given that recently called up first baseman Tyler Austin is dealing with hamstring bruising which could land him on the disabled list.
Jun 28 - 7:34 PM

Corey Seager (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Seager suffered a Grade 1 right hamstring strain on Friday and has been out of commission ever since. Chris Taylor is manning shortstop and hitting fifth in his place on Wednesday. Despite his extended absence, he might be able to avoid the disabled list. Manager Dave Roberts said that he could potentially play on Thursday, and if not Thursday, then Friday.

Cardinals optioned SS Aledmys Diaz to Triple-A Memphis.

Diaz has been hitting fine (if unspectacularly) this season, slashing .260/.293/.396 with seven homers, 20 RBI and 30 runs scored in 273 at-bats. He was in a 5-for-22 slump prior to this demotion. The Cardinals will try to get him right at Triple-A, but in the meantime, Paul DeJong (starting at short on Wednesday) and Alex Mejia (just called up) will likely see the majority of at-bats at shortstop.

Koda Glover (back) said that he is now dealing with severe rotator cuff inflammation.

Glover landed on the disabled list with lower back stiffness on June 11 and has yet to resume a throwing program. He believes that attempting to pitch through that back stiffness might have led to overcompensation with his right shoulder, hence the severe inflammation. There is no current timetable for his recovery. Do not be surprised if the Nationals make an acquisition to shore up the back of the bullpen before the trade deadline.

Diamondbacks recalled SS Ketel Marte from Triple-A Reno.

Marte earns the call up with Nick Ahmed landing on the disabled list due to a fractured hand. He was hitting a sizzling .338/.391/.514 with six homers and seven base thefts with Triple-A Reno in the Pacific Coast League prior to his promotion on Wednesday. He warrants fantasy consideration for those in deeper formats.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Yankees and Red Sox have reached out to the Marlins about a potential Martin Prado trade.

Chase Headley and Pablo Sandoval have both struggled at the hot corner for the Yanks and Sox, respectively. Prado has played in just 21 games this season due to a hamstring injury which cost him about six weeks of action. He is hitting .277/.299/.398 with two homers and nine RBI in 83 at-bats this season.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Blue Jays are among the teams with interest in Miguel Montero.

Montero was designated for assignment by the Cubs following a rant about Jake Arrieta not being able to hold runners on. It's possible Chicago could work out a trade of the catcher before having to release him, but either way they're going to have to pick up nearly all of what remains of his $14 million salary. Montero would be a backup to Russell Martin in Toronto.

Michael Conforto (hand) remained out of the Mets' lineup Wednesday.

He hasn't played since being hit on the left hand by a pitch Sunday. A pair of X-rays revealed no fracture, but Conforto wasn't able to grip a bat without pain Tuesday and it's unclear when he'll be ready to return to action. In the meantime, Curtis Granderson will continue to get starts. Lucas Duda is also getting a breather Wednesday, as Wilmer Flores is at first base and T.J. Rivera is at third.
