Alex Rodriguez (hip) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single Wednesday in his latest rehab game with High-A Tampa.

Rodriguez entered the day 1-for-12 with three strikeouts over his first five rehab games, but he knocked in his first run with a line drive single to left field in the sixth inning. He expects to play "five or six innings" at third base for his next rehab game on Thursday and remains on track to join the Yankees shortly after the All-Star break. A-Rod is reportedly expected to be suspended for his alleged connection to Biogenesis, but he would almost certainly appeal any ruling from MLB.

Jon Gray (shoulder) has been cleared to start Monday versus the Blue Jays after getting through a 14-pitch bullpen session Friday with no issues.

Gray had to be pulled from his last start because of shoulder fatigue, but it's apparently no big deal. He'll face a stiff test in going up against the tough Toronto offense at Coors Field.

Cubs manager Joe Madd0n said Friday that Anthony Rizzo (back) is feeling better and it's "possible" the first baseman could return to the lineup Saturday.

Rizzo is sitting out a second straight game Friday and has missed three contests over the last couple weeks with back stiffness, but it appears he's making some progress. Kris Bryant is handling first base Friday, with Javier Baez at third.

Stephen Strasburg (back) is on track to start on Sunday versus the Brewers.

Strasburg was scratched from his last outing with an upper back strain, but he had two ribs popped back into place and is now feeling much better. He threw a light bullpen session Friday and should officially be cleared to start Sunday as long as he shows up to the ballpark Saturday feeling alright.
Jun 24 - 5:17 PM

Carlos Gonzalez (wrist) is not in the Rockies' lineup Friday.

CarGo tweaked his right wrist on a swing Thursday and had to be lifted from the game. It looks like a minor thing at this point, but he could need a few days off. Ryan Raburn is in right field.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Angels "are listening" on Yunel Escobar and the Giants are "among the teams that have expressed interest."

It could indicate that the Giants aren't expecting Matt Duffy (Achilles) back anytime soon. It's no surprise that the Angels are willing to move Escobar, as they're already 16 games out of first place and don't seem likely to close that gap. Escobar is making $7 million this season and the Halos have a $7 million option on him for 2017.
Jun 24 - 4:47 PM

Jose Abreu is not in the White Sox' lineup Friday due to leg fatigue.

It will only be a one-day absence, as Abreu is expected back in there Saturday. Todd Frazier will play first base and Tyler Saladino is at third on Friday.
Jun 24 - 4:36 PM

Gregory Polanco is not in the Pirates' lineup Friday due to left leg discomfort.

The Pirates got Starling Marte (foot) back in the lineup Friday but now will be without Polanco. It's unclear how Polanco was injured, but it appears to be a day-to-day situation. Matt Joyce has taken his spot in right field.
Jun 24 - 4:10 PM

Yoenis Cespedes (wrist) is back in the Mets' lineup Friday.

Cespedes missed just one start with a mild left wrist sprain. He was given a cortisone shot and is now ready to go, playing center field and batting third on Friday.
Jun 24 - 3:55 PM

Starling Marte (foot) is back in the Pirates' lineup Friday.

Marte hasn't started since leaving Tuesday's game with a sore foot. He's batting second and playing left field. The Pirates are also resting Josh Harrison, as Sean Rodriguez is handling second base.
Jun 24 - 3:40 PM

Pirates activated RHP Juan Nicasio from the restricted list.

Nicasio was away for about a week while dealing with a private family matter back in the Dominican Republic. The Pirates announced that the righty will be moved into the bullpen, likely for the remainder of the season. They haven't revealed yet who will start Sunday in Nicasio's place.
Jun 24 - 3:24 PM

Rays acquired OF Oswaldo Arcia from the Twins in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Arcia has hit only .240/.303/.429 over 967 plate appearances at the big league level, but he just turned 25 last month and has shown lots of power in flashes. He should see playing time in the corner outfield spots while Brandon Guyer (hamstring) and Steven Souza (hip) are sidelined, although both players are due back soon.
