Yonder Alonso (hand) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

Alonso has picked up six hits in his first 11 rehab at-bats and, most importantly, hasn't had any setbacks with his fractured hand. The first baseman has been sidelined since early June.

Alex Reyes will make his first major league start on Saturday in place of Mike Leake who is dealing with shingles.

The 21-year-old right-hander has been impressive in his time out of the Cardinals bullpen, posting a 13/4 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 scoreless innings. He's worthy of a look in all formats for as long as he's in the rotation.

Felix Hernandez gave up just one run in 7 1/3 innings in a 3-1 victory over the White Sox on Friday.

His only mistake was a solo homer by Todd Frazier in the seventh. Hernandez gave up eight hits and walked a pair while striking out five. He loaded the bases in the eighth inning before getting pulled, but fortunately for him, Edwin Diaz was able to put out the fire. While his stuff might not be what it once was, King Felix is now 5-0 since returning from the disabled list last month and has allowed two runs or fewer in four consecutive starts. He’ll bring a 3.14 ERA into a tough matchup against the Rangers on the road next week.

Chris Sale allowed three runs and struck out 14 batters in a complete-game loss to the Mariners on Friday.

He also didn’t walk a batter. It was a good thing the Mariners got to him early, because Sale eventually found his groove and was completely dominant. The southpaw retired the final 16 batters he faced and struck out six batters in a row at one point. This was his fifth complete game of the season. He has now dropped four out of his last five decisions to fall to 15-7 on the year. He’ll bring a 3.14 ERA into a start against the Tigers on the road next week.

Russell Martin went 2-for-5 with a homer and five RBI in Friday’s 15-8 victory over the Twins.

Martin cleared the bases with a double to left-center field in the sixth inning, but he didn’t stop there. He slugged a two-run homer one inning later, which served as the exclamation point on a five-run frame for Toronto. After hitting eight homers through his first 95 games this season, Martin has seven homers in his last 11 games.

Mookie Betts went 5-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles in Friday’s loss to the Royals.

All five hits were singles. This was the first five-hit game of his career. Betts, Dustin Pedroia, and Xander Bogaerts combined for 12 hits on the night, but they only managed three runs against Ian Kennedy and the Royals’ bullpen. With a .320/.360/.557 batting line to go along with 28 homers, 93 RBI, 21 steals, and 99 runs scored, Betts continues to look like a strong MVP candidate.

Wilmer Flores slugged a grand slam in Friday’s victory over the Phillies.

It was his only hit in four at-bats on Friday, but it was a huge one, as his fifth-inning blast extended the Mets’ lead to 6-1. They added three more runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Flores hasn’t done much against right-handers this season, but he continues to mash lefties. 10 of his 14 homers have come against left-handers.
Aug 26 - 10:27 PM

Gary Sanchez continued to tear the cover off the ball in Friday’s 14-4 win over the Orioles, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored.

At this point, it would be more weird if he didn’t homer. Sanchez doubled in a pair of runs in the second inning before slugging a two-run homer in the fifth. He now has 10 homers and 20 RBI in 19 games since his call-up earlier this month. He’s just the third player in MLB history to reach 10 homers through his first 22 career games. It’s unfair to expect this sort of production to continue at this ridiculous pace, but fantasy owners are enjoying the ride.
Aug 26 - 10:20 PM

Justin Verlander earned his 14th victory of the season on Friday, allowing just two runs on four hits over 7 2/3 innings against the Angels.

Verlander punched out eight on the night while issuing one free pass. Albert Pujols tagged him for a solo homer in the first inning, then he was able to settle in nicely and keep the Angels off the board until Kole Calhoun's RBI double in the eighth. He has been fantastic since his rocky start to the season and now sports a stellar 3.33 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 189/46 K/BB ratio over 181 innings. He'll take on the White Sox his next time out at home on Wednesday.
Aug 26 - 10:18 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and three RBI in Friday’s loss to the Yankees.

Machado was the only bright spot on this night for Baltimore, as he slugged a solo homer in the first inning before going deep again in the sixth, this time for a two-run blast. This was the ninth multi-homer game of his career and his third of the season. He’s batting .305/.358/.564 with 31 homers and 81 RBI through 123 games on the year. While the speed hasn’t been for fantasy owners, he’s poised to blow away his career-highs in the power department.

Adam Jones was pulled from Friday's game against the Yankees after appearing to re-injure his hamstring.

Jones left Thursday's game with cramping in his hamstring, but tested it out pregame and was deemed good to go on Friday. He appeared to re-injure it though while running to first base on in his first at-bat. Expect the O's to provide an update on his status shortly.
Aug 26 - 7:44 PM

Clayton Kershaw (back) made it through Friday's bullpen session without any issues and will progress to facing live hitters next week.

It's another positive step toward a return to the Dodgers rotation this season for the star southpaw. If all goes well with his next session, he could be cleared for a minor league rehab start. Barring any setbacks, a return in early September doesn't look so outrageous any longer.
