Mets recalled RHP Scott Atchison from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Atchison was originally supposed to rejoin the team after the All-Star break but the Mets used five relievers in Saturday's loss, necessitating a move. Jordany Valdespin was demoted to make room on the roster for Atchison. Atchison has a 4.50 ERA in 18 innings this season.

Indians outfield prospect Bradley Zimmer has been promoted from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus.

Fellow top outfield prospect Clint Frazier will join him on the move. Zimmer, 23, was slashing .252/.370/.472 with 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 31 stolen bases, and 57 runs scored through 92 games this season at the Double-A level. He needs to improve his overall plate discipline, but those counting stats are eye-popping to any fantasy baseball enthusiast. Zimmer was the 21st overall pick in 2014 out of the University of San Francisco. He should make his major league debut later this summer.

According to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, Angels closer Huston Street is among the Giants' trade targets leading up to the August 1 deadline.

He's probably more of a backup plan, as the Giants have been linked to a number of other relievers having far better seasons. Street, 32, owns a rough 5.03 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings this year out of the Anaheim bullpen. He has missed time with oblique and hamstring injuries. The right-hander is under contract for $9 million in 2017 and carries a $10 million club option for 2018.

Adrian Gonzalez blasted a grand slam in the first inning on Sunday, powering the Dodgers to a 9-6 victory over the Cardinals in St. Louis.

The Dodgers jumped on rookie right-hander Mike Mayers right out of the gate, with a pair of singles and a walk before Gonzalez unloaded on a towering grand slam to center field. He added a pair of singles, including a run-scoring knock in the second inning, finishing the night 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and four RBI. He's now hitting .284/.360/.412 with nine homers and 51 RBI.

The Rockies announced Sunday that top prospect David Dahl will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

The club gets the benefit of having a designated hitter for their series in Baltimore to begin the week, so they'll take a look at the sweet-swinging outfielder. With Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon on the trade block, Dahl could be up with the big league club to stay. The 22-year-old is hitting .314/.394/.569 with 18 homers, 61 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 92 games between Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque this season. He's immediately an interesting commodity in all mixed leagues.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers have expressed interest in acquiring veteran right-hander Edinson Volquez from the Royals.

Grant notes that the entire Rangers brass in charge of player personnel was on hand for Volquez's start on Sunday and the club has admitted that they're seeking a major upgrade to their rotation. The Royals haven't yet decided if they'll be buyers or sellers at next week's trade deadline. The right-hander's next start is conveniently against the Rangers in Arlington on Friday, so all he may need to do is change dugouts if a deal gets consummated.

Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets offered Travis d'Arnaud straight up in a trade for Jonathan Lucroy and were refuted by the Brewers.

The Mets are reportedly still interested in acquiring Lucroy, but it's going to take more than just d'Arnaud to get a deal done. With several other clubs in the mix to acquire Lucroy, the Brewers can afford to sit back and demand a King's ransom for the hard-hitting backstop.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Cubs and Yankees are working to finalize an Aroldis Chapman trade.

Cubs shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres is believed to be in the package that would head to New York, along with another piece or two. Chapman, a 28-year-old impending free agent, has registered a stellar 2.01 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 44/8 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 innings since returning in May from a domestic violence suspension. There's a report from Rian Watt of Baseball Prospectus suggesting that the Cubs are trying to work out a contract extension with Chapman on top of the trade. That could be the major hold-up.

Trevor Story slugged his 27th homer of the year Sunday in the Rockies' 7-2 victory over the Braves.

It was a two-run shot in the fourth inning off Atlanta rookie Tyrell Jenkins. Story also doubled and scored in the first inning, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Only two middle infielders in major league history have registered 30-homer seasons by age 23: Alex Rodriguez and Nomar Garciaparra. Story is well on his way to becoming the third.

Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Twins.

Ramirez clocked his three-run shot off Twins starter Tommy Milone in the third inning. He has been on an absolute molten hot streak of late and has five homers and 12 RBI over his last five games. The recent power binge has boosted his overall batting line to .282/.362/.459. He can pair that with 13 homers and 60 RBI over 340 at-bats. Ramirez has always possessed a tantalizing power bat, but he has reached the 20-homer mark just once in the last six seasons.

Hector Rondon notched his 18th save of the season Sunday in the Cubs' 5-4 defeat of the Brewers.

Rondon served up a two-out homer to Kirk Nieuwenhuis but retired the other three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning at Miller Park -- two via strikeout. The right-hander holds a 1.95 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and 48/5 K/BB ratio in 37 innings this season for the Cubs, but his days as a closer could be numbered with Theo Epstein and Co. searching the trade block for another elite late-inning arm.

Nationals optioned RHP Lucas Giolito to Triple-A Syracuse.

Giolito allowed four runs -- two earned -- over 3 1/3 innings Sunday in the Nationals' loss to the Padres. It was his third career start at the major league level. Joe Ross (shoulder) could be activated to fill the rotation vacancy later this week. Or maybe the Nats will try Reynaldo Lopez again.
