Hector Sanchez (shoulder) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Wednesday night at High-A San Jose.

It was his second live game since he landed on the disabled list July 9 with a strained right shoulder; his first was Monday in the Arizona Rookie League. Sanchez should be cleared for activation next week. Guillermo Quiroz has been serving as Buster Posey's backup.

Adam Lind went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a two-run home run as the Brewers extended their winning streak to eight games on Sunday versus the Reds.

Lind has knocked in a run in each of his last nine ballgames, homering four times with five multi-hit games in that span of time. On Sunday, he gave the Brewers some insurance with an RBI single in the fifth inning, then homered in the seventh to put the game out of reach for the Reds. Lind is batting a productive .298/.373/.518 with 14 home runs and 51 RBI on the year.

Starling Marte exited Sunday's game against the Indians with discomfort in his left side.

The Pirates don't want to provide a definitive diagnosis until Marte is re-evaluated on Monday. The fear, obviously, is that he's suffered a strained oblique, which would surely require a trip to the disabled list. More will be known about Marte on Monday.

Sonny Gray (illness) has officially been cleared to rejoin the Athletics' rotation on Tuesday against the Yankees.

Gray missed one turn in the rotation and had another one pushed back after needing a brief stay in the hospital due to salmonella. He's back on track now, though, and will take the ball on Tuesday in New York. Chris Bassitt, who has filled in for Gray, will likely be sent down after Sunday's start.
Jul 5 - 3:19 PM

Pirates claimed 1B/OF Travis Ishikawa off waivers from the Giants.

Ishikawa was actually the Pirates' Opening Day first baseman last season but didn't last with the club for long. The veteran has spent almost all of 2015 at Triple-A, batting .271/.342/.421 with four homers over 34 games. He'll give the Pirates a backup option at first base and the corner outfield spots.
Jul 5 - 2:59 PM

Nationals placed RHP Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

Strasburg suffered the injury during Saturday's start. It's really a shame, as he had been looking terrific since returning from a trapezius injury a couple weeks ago. How long Strasburg will be sidelined isn't known at this point. The Nats haven't revealed who will replace him in the rotation, but an off day on Thursday means they can wait until after the All-Star break to make a decision.

Michael Cuddyer (knee) is back in the Mets' lineup.

Cuddyer missed four starts with a sore left knee, although he made an appearance both on Friday and Saturday. The veteran outfielder sports a disappointing .241/.294/.361 batting line this season.
Jul 5 - 1:43 PM

Cardinals placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 25, with a left groin strain.

Garcia got through a bullpen session on Saturday without any apparent issues with his groin, but he reported some discomfort when he arrived at the park Sunday. The Cardinals are hoping he'll be ready to go right after the All-Star break. Tyler Lyons and Tim Cooney will now start during Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.
Jul 5 - 1:01 PM

Yordano Ventura (hand) is expected to skip his final rehab start and rejoin the Royals' rotation, likely on Thursday versus the Rays.

Ventura had been pegged to take the ball on Monday for Triple-A Omaha in a final tune-up, but it appears the club has decided he doesn't need that outing. "He's ready," manager Ned Yost said. Ventura has been on the shelf since mid-June with ulnar neuritis in his pitching hand.
Jul 5 - 11:38 AM

Cubs activated OF Jorge Soler from the 15-day disabled list.

Soler went just 2-for-13 with four strikeouts during his four-game rehab stint with Triple-A Iowa, but his ankle is feeling fine and that's all the Cubs really care about. The youngster missed just over a month of action with a sprained left ankle.
Jul 5 - 11:06 AM

Carlos Gomez (wrist) is not in the Brewers' lineup Sunday.

Gomez had to exit Saturday's contest after being hit on the left wrist by a pitch. X-rays came back clean and he's expected to be fine, but the outfielder is surely sore. Gerardo Parra is handling center field Sunday.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Angels have had trade discussions with the Brewers regarding Adam Lind and Gerardo Parra.

Rosenthal notes that the talks about Parra came before former general manager Jerry Dipoto resigned and that "nothing was close" to getting done. Still, both Parra and Lind make a lot of sense for the Halos since they're in need of left field and designated hitter help. The Brewers have caught fire of late, but they still figure to be sellers at the deadline and both Lind and Parra likely will be on the move.
