Ryan Braun said in a statement Thursday that he is not allowed to address his 65-game PED suspension.

MLB's investigation into the Miami-based Biogenesis clinic is still ongoing and they've likely given Braun a gag order as part of his suspension agreement. "I know it was difficult for everybody," Braun said, "but I was not, and am still not, legally allowed to say anything yet." He'll presumably face the media at some point later this year.

Steven Souza left Sunday's game versus the Athletics with a left wrist injury.

Souza initially hurt the wrist on a collision at home plate with Stephen Vogt, and he then aggravated it later on a swing. The A's should have more on his status later Sunday.

Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers and Athletics discussed a trade involving Jesse Chavez over the offseason.

They could wind up revisiting the talks, as the A's have baseball's worst record and the Dodgers are in need of rotation help following season-ending injuries to Brandon McCarthy (elbow) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder). Chavez began the season in Oakland's bullpen but joined the rotation late last month and has posted a 2.89 ERA and 41/13 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 innings. The Dodgers are also known to have engaged in trade discussions with the Phillies over the winter regarding Cole Hamels, so it's possible they'll try to reel in a bigger fish than Chavez.
May 24 - 1:41 PM

Jason Heyward (hip) remained out of the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

He's now sat out two straight contests with tightness in his left hip. Heyward is considered day-to-day. Randal Grichuk is getting another start in right field.

Avisail Garcia (knee) is back in the White Sox' lineup Sunday.

Jonathan Lucroy (toe) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as next weekend.

Lucroy will have an X-ray Monday to see if his fractured left big toe is healed. If it is, he'll be cleared for a short rehab assignment and could be back in the Brewers' lineup next weekend when they take on the Diamondbacks. He's been on the shelf since mid-April.

He's actually been dealing with the shoulder issue for a couple starts and it apparently hasn't been getting better. Lobstein will undergo an MRI to make sure he's not dealing with anything more than inflammation. Buck Farmer will take his spot in the Tigers' rotation.

Juan Lagares (pectoral, elbow) has been scratched from the Mets' lineup Sunday.

He's still dealing with elbow and pectoral soreness. It's not clear at this point whether the Mets might consider putting Lagares on the disabled list, but for now he should be considered day-to-day. Darrell Ceciliani took his spot in center field Sunday.
May 24 - 11:14 AM

Jose Bautista is not in Sunday's lineup after being given a cortisone shot for his ailing right shoulder.

May 24 - 11:11 AM

Lucas Duda is not in the Mets' lineup Sunday due to a tight hamstring.

Duda tweaked the hamstring on a play at second base Saturday. It doesn't sound like more than a day-to-day concern, but the Mets will be careful. Michael Cuddyer is at first base Sunday, with John Mayberry covering left field.
