Mark Melancon earned his fourth save of the season Saturday in the Pirates' 7-4 win over the Marlins.

Melancon has taken over at closer for the Bucs with Jason Grilli in recovery mode from a flexor tendon strain. The 28-year-old right-hander owns an outstanding 0.91 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 48/7 K/BB ratio in 49 1/3 innings this season and is an obvious must-own in standard leagues. Pittsburgh is 1 1/2 games back of St. Louis in the NL Central.

Athletics activated RHP Kendall Graveman from the 10-day disabled list.

Matt Olson was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in the corresponding roster move. Graveman is back after missing one start with a strained shoulder. He'll be on a slightly reduced pitch count when he takes the mound Thursday against the Angels. Graveman is undefeated with a 2.00 ERA in three starts this year.
Apr 27 - 4:54 PM

Roberto Osuna took his third blown save in four tries after giving up a two-run homer in the ninth inning Thursday against the Cardinals.

Osuna has given up runs in four of six appearances since coming off the disabled list. The homer today was the first he's allowed and he does have a 5/0 K/BB ratio in six innings, so it's hardly time to lose hope. Still, the Jays might opt to give him a break from the closer's role after this one. If so, they could go to Joe Biagini over Jason Grilli.

Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) will go for an MRI on Friday.

This MRI will be "more detailed" than the one Cespedes underwent last week. Cespedes strained his hamstring running the bases on Thursday and manager Terry Collins said he could be out "a while." The Mets have dropped six straight and now sit in last place in the NL East. Losing their best hitter for an extended stretch probably won't help matters.
Apr 27 - 4:35 PM

Matt Harvey, moved up in the rotation because Noah Syndergaard was scratched, gave up six runs and walked five in 4 1/3 innings Thursday in his start against the Braves.

Harvey looked strong in the first, but he lost command and velocity in the second. Maybe he was off because of the late notice that he'd be pitching in this one, but it was a really discouraging outing from a guy who had been throwing well.
Apr 27 - 4:28 PM

R.A. Dickey was removed from his start Thursday against the Mets due to a left quad spasm.

Dickey allowed three runs -- two earned -- over five innings before his departure. If it's truly just a spasm, the veteran knuckleballer should be fine for his next scheduled start.
Apr 27 - 3:44 PM

Dustin Pedroia (knee, ankle) is back in the Red Sox lineup on Thursday night against the Yankees.

It'll be his first start since he injured his knee and ankle last Friday on a controversial takeout slide by Manny Machado. Pedroia is starting at second base and batting leadoff versus Yankees right-hander Masahiro Tanaka.
Apr 27 - 3:12 PM

Jose Altuve (head) is sitting out again Thursday versus the Indians.

Altuve was also given the day off Wednesday following his nasty collision with Teoscar Hernandez on Tuesday night. The star second baseman has been cleared of a concussion but is experiencing some lingering shoulder soreness. Marwin Gonzalez will draw the start at second on Thursday versus the Tribe.
Apr 27 - 3:09 PM

George Springer (hamstring) remains out of the Astros' starting lineup on Thursday.

Springer hasn't started a game since Saturday, though he did sub in Tuesday after Teoscar Hernandez suffered a left knee injury in a shallow-outfield collision with Jose Altuve. Josh Reddick is in center field and batting leadoff Thursday versus the Indians.
Apr 27 - 3:06 PM

Yoenis Cespedes has been diagnosed with a pulled left hamstring.

That's more commonly known as a hamstring strain, and it's going to send Cespedes to the disabled list for at least a couple of weeks. He had been dealing with left hamstring discomfort for the last several days and tweaked the muscle Thursday while legging out a double off Braves starter R.A. Dickey in the bottom of the fourth inning. Juan Lagares replaced Cespedes in the Mets' outfield on Thursday. Michael Conforto should now have an everyday role in New York.
Apr 27 - 2:36 PM

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested Thursday that Rich Hill (blister) could return as a reliever.

Hill threw a successful simulated game Wednesday and is nearing activation from the 10-day disabled list, but the Dodgers want to keep Alex Wood in the starting rotation and they just promoted Julio Urias. Maybe a bullpen role would work better for Hill's blister management, but it's brutal news for fantasy owners who used a high draft pick on him this spring.
Apr 27 - 2:13 PM

Dodgers recalled LHP Julio Urias from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Urias will join the Dodgers' rotation on Thursday against Giants after registering a 1.93 ERA with 15 strikeouts across 14 innings (three starts) this season for OKC. The young left-hander carries some workload limitations and he still has control issues, but the fantasy upside is tremendous. Get him active.
