Mets purchased the contract of LHP Pedro Feliciano from Triple-A Las Vegas.

He'll replace the injured Josh Edgin on the active roster. Bothered by shoulder problems, this will be Feliciano's first stint in the majors since 2010 as a member of the Mets. The 36-year-old southpaw had a 1.29 ERA and 19/4 K/BB ratio over 21 innings in the minors, but he has reportedly struggled with his velocity.

Eduardo Escobar was removed from Thursday's game against the Red Sox due to an apparent injury.

Escobar got hit in the right elbow by a high-and-tight pitch from Rick Porcello in the bottom of the first inning. He remained in the game until the top of the fourth, when Taylor Motter entered to play third base. It wouldn't seem to be anything too serious.

White Sox OF prospect Eloy Jimenez has been promoted from Double-A Birmingham to Triple-A Charlotte.

Jimenez tore up the Southern League to the tune of a .317/.368/.556 batting line with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, and 42 RBI in 53 games. The 21-year-old outfielder is one of the top prospects in all of baseball and could very well make his major league debut later this season -- maybe after the rebuilding White Sox sell off some parts ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.

Padres activated OF Wil Myers from the 10-day disabled list.

Myers will return to the Padres' starting lineup on Thursday night against Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner after missing nearly two months with a strained oblique. The 27-year-old also sat out for much of April with an arm issue. He batted .300 with a .900 OPS on his five-game minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso and is safe for immediate activation in fantasy leagues.

Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quad) is hoping to progress to running drills in the next few days.

That's what Mets manager Mickey Callaway relayed to reporters on Thursday afternoon. Cespedes landed on the disabled list in mid-May with a right hip injury and then experienced tightness in his right quad earlier this month after embarking on a minor league rehab assignment. He could be ready to return in early-to-mid July if he's able to avoid further setbacks.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Padres have checked in on the trade market for Manny Machado.

The Padres have played better ball lately, but they look highly doubtful to earn a spot in the 2018 postseason and Machado is due to become a free agent in November, so this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Heyman heard from a Padres source that the interest is merely "due diligence" -- possibly setting up for a more intense pursuit of the 25-year-old superstar once he hits the open market.

Thursday night's game between the Athletics and White Sox has been postponed due to rain.

The forecast looks ugly in Chicago, so they went ahead and called this one off early. It'll be made up via a doubleheader on Friday, with first pitch in the opening game scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Lucas Giolito was scheduled to start for the White Sox and Chris Bassitt was on tap for the A's. They'll both pitch Friday.
Jun 21 - 12:14 PM

Eddie Rosario was scratched from the Twins' starting lineup on Thursday due to right shoulder soreness.

It's considered a minor issue, and Rosario might be back in there for Friday night's series opener against the Rangers. Ryan LaMarre will start in center field and bat eighth Thursday versus Red Sox right-hander Rick Porcello, with Robbie Grossman in left field and hitting fifth. Max Kepler is in right.
Jun 21 - 11:43 AM

Jean Segura is out of the Mariners' starting lineup Thursday due to an infection in his right forearm.

The infection is treatable with antibiotics, which have been prescribed, and Segura isn't expected to miss too much time -- maybe just this one game. Andrew Romine is starting at shortstop and batting ninth for the Mariners on Thursday afternoon against Yankees right-hander Luis Severino.
Jun 21 - 11:38 AM

Masahiro Tanaka (hamstrings) is scheduled to throw off a mound Sunday.

It'll be his first mound workout since he landed on the disabled list June 9 with tightness in both of his hamstrings. Tanaka is not expected to return to the Yankees' starting rotation until sometime in early-to-mid July. He holds a 7-2 record, 4.58 ERA, 1.087 WHIP, and 73/19 K/BB ratio in 72 2/3 innings (13 starts) this season. Jonathan Loaisiga is filling his spot.
Jun 21 - 11:11 AM

Brett Gardner (knee) remains out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Thursday against the Mariners.

Gardner has apparently made some progress in his recovery from a sore right knee, but he'll sit out for a fifth straight game with the Mariners starting left-hander James Paxton in this matinee tilt at Yankee Stadium. Giancarlo Stanton is in left field and Gary Sanchez is taking a turn at designated hitter.
Jun 21 - 10:10 AM

Aaron Hicks is getting the day off Thursday against the Mariners.

Clint Frazier will start in center field and bat leadoff versus Mariners left-hander James Paxton. This appears to be a routine day of rest for Hicks, who's batting .300/.364/.617 through 66 plate appearances in June.
