Blue Jays placed RHP Steve Delabar on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 3, with right shoulder inflammation.

Delabar was roughed up for three runs over his inning of work on Friday, but apparently his shoulder might have been at least partly to blame. It's not clear at this point how long the All-Star reliever might be sidelined. Delabar holds a 2.90 ERA and has struck out 75 over 49 2/3 innings this season.

Evan Longoria went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI as the Rays beat the Yankees 9-5 on Saturday.

Longoria connected on a Michael Pineda pitch for a two-run shot in the second inning. The homer was his ninth of the season, giving him 24 RBI and 26 runs scored. The 30-year-old is slashing .254/.302/.466 overall.

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in a Braves' 7-2 win over the Marlins on Saturday.

With a couple runners on in the seventh inning, Beckham took an Edwin Jackson offering out to left-center for his second home run of the year. He also doubled and scored in the contest. Beckham has quietly been very good for the Braves in 27 games this year, batting .317/.417/.488 with 14 RBI and 11 runs scored.

Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored as the Athletics pounded the Tigers 12-3 on Saturday.

Valencia hit a solo home run off Matt Boyd, his seventh homer of the season, and the A's were able to hang nine runs on the Tigers' awful bullpen. The three-hit game raised Valencia's season line to .311/.341/.521. Designated for assignment by the Blue Jays less than a year ago, the 31-year-old has proven to be one heck of a pickup for the A's.
May 28 - 7:15 PM

Russell Martin homered and drove home three runs on Saturday as the Blue Jays rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Red Sox 10-9 on Saturday.

Martin blasted his homer off Rick Porcello in the sixth inning, pulling the Jays to within three runs at 7-4. He added an RBI single as part of a four-run uprising to tie the game in the eighth inning. His biggest contribution came with two-outs in the ninth inning, where his RBI double plated the tying run off Craig Kimbrel. Martin then came around to score the winning run on a single by Devon Travis. He finished the afternoon 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI, raising his season slash to .194/.260/.273 to go along with three homers and 14 RBI.
May 28 - 6:33 PM

Salvador Perez suffered a quad contusion after a scary collision with third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert on Saturday.

It's unclear if Perez will avoid a trip to the disabled list, but this is nonetheless promising news for the Royals, as it appeared in real-time that the 26-year-old catcher suffered a significant knee injury. Now it's just a matter of determining the length of his absence. Perez is hitting .277/.313/.494 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 176 plate appearances in 2016.
May 28 - 6:02 PM

Kyle Hendricks logged his second career complete game in Saturday's one-run, five-hit domination of the Phillies.

Hendricks struck out seven and didn't walk a batter in the ballgame. He made a bid for his first career shutout, until Freddy Galvis doubled, advanced on a ground ball and stole home in the ninth inning. Now 3-4 on the season, he'll carry a terrific 2.93 ERA and 0.96 WHIP into Thursday's start against the Nationals.
May 28 - 4:55 PM

Giants placed RHP Matt Cain on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring injury.

It's been a few years since Cain has been fantasy relevant -- which makes this trip to the disabled list rather harmless -- but it still affects owners in deeper leagues or NL-onlies. Cain owns a 5.20 ERA with only a 6.37 K/9. Even when he returns, it's best to avoid him, if possible.
May 28 - 4:13 PM

Denard Span was scratched from the Giants starting lineup on Saturday due to a bruised right hip.

Span is still dealing with a bit of soreness from crashing into the outfield wall earlier in the week, so manager Bruce Bochy felt he could get him a day off now that Hunter Pence had returned. Span should be back in the lineup on Sunday.
May 28 - 2:55 PM

Mets acquired 1B James Loney from the Padres for cash considerations.

Loney is expected to platoon at first base with Wilmer Flores. As the strong side of the platoon, he should see enough at-bats to be relevant in NL-only formats, though even at his peak he was never much of a mixed league commodity. He was hitting well at Triple-A El Paso though, slashing .342/.373/.424 with a pair of homers and 28 RBI.
May 28 - 2:49 PM

Dodgers optioned LHP Julio Urias to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

While he struggled in his big league debut on Friday, Urias flashed the skills and talent that have made him the top pitching prospect in the game. He'll continue to bide his time at Triple-A for now, but will almost assuredly get another chance with the Dodgers later in the season.
May 28 - 1:57 PM

Ryan Braun is not in the Brewers starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Braun has battled a variety of ailments already this season, so giving him a breather to keep him fresh isn't a terrible idea, especially after he looked especially spry on Friday night with a pair of stolen bases. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, he misses a juicy matchup against Alfredo Simon.
