Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Pirates' 4-3 victory over the Marlins on Tuesday.

McCutchen ripped his 31st double of the season in the third inning, driving in two runs in the process. He's now driven in 64 runs on the year to go with a .309/.381/.502 batting line. It's the fourth straight multi-hit game for the 26-year-old.

Carlos Gonzalez (ankle) is back in Monday's lineup against the Cubs.

CarGo rolled his ankle prior to Saturday's game and missed two straight starts, but he's ready to give it a go. He'll bat third against Tsuyoshi Wada.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, the Phillies have made left-hander Cole Hamels available.

ESPN's Buster Olney heard last week that Hamels was not going to be shopped at this year's July 31 trade deadline, but something has apparently changed. Morosi says the asking price is very high, so it's far from a sure thing that the 30-year-old southpaw will be dealt. The Dodgers are believed to have interest. Hamels, who has a 2.72 ERA and 125/39 K/BB ratio in 122 1/3 innings this season, is under contract with Philadelphia through 2019.

Scooter Gennett (quad) is back in the Brewers' starting lineup on Monday night against the Rays.

Gennett was out of the Brewers' lineup for five games with tightness in his right quad, but he made an appearance as a pinch-hitter on Sunday and will start at second base in Monday's series-opener versus Tampa Bay.

Ervin Santana dominated the Padres over eight shutout innings Monday in the Braves' 2-0 victory.

Santana carved his way through the weak San Diego lineup with ease, allowing only five hits while striking out 11 batters. He did not issue a walk. It was the second straight double-digit strikeout game for Santana, who fanned 10 Marlins last Wednesday night. He is 10-6 with a 3.63 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 118/37 K/BB ratio in 131 1/3 frames this season. A rematch with the Padres is next.

Dodgers acquired 2B Darwin Barney from the Cubs for a player to be named later and cash considerations.

The Cubs designated Barney for assignment last week, handing second base duties to Arismendy Alcantara and Emilio Bonifacio. Barney had a rough .244/.290/.335 batting line in parts of five seasons with Chicago, but he's an elite defender at second base. The Dodgers plan to use him all around their infield.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Indians are "very willing to move" Justin Masterson.

Passan says the Indians want "young, controllable starting pitching" in return, which is going to be a tough find. Masterson can become a free agent after the season and owns a rough 5.51 ERA and 1.63 ERA in 98 innings this year. The big right-hander is also on the disabled list currently with a right knee injury, though he's due back Friday night.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the Dodgers are "floating Carl Crawford to teams."

It's going to be a difficult sell with Crawford still owed close to $70 million through 2017 and batting just .242/.278/.360 in 198 plate appearances this season. The Dodgers are also known to be shopping Matt Kemp as they try to clear their outfield logjam and dump some salary at the July 31 trade deadline. Not that they need to dump salary.

Jason Heyward left Monday afternoon's series finale against the Padres with lower back soreness.

Heyward grounded out to first base in the bottom of the second inning in his only at-bat of the game. Ryan Doumit replaced him in right field. Heyward is day-to-day.

Padres manager Bud Black said this weekend that Jesse Hahn has "between five and 10 starts left."

Hahn threw just 69 innings last season in the Rays' minor league system after returning from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and has already totaled 87 innings this season between Double-A San Antonio and big-league San Diego. The 24-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.12 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over his first eight major league outings, but enjoy the ride while you still can. He won't be much help down the stretch.
Jul 28 - 1:00 PM

James Paxton (lat) threw 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball Sunday in his final rehab start at Triple-A Tacoma.

Paxton gave up six hits and walked three, but the most important thing is that he was pain-free. The left-hander is expected to rejoin the Mariners' starting rotation on August 2 in Baltimore and could hold considerable fantasy value down the stretch. He had a 2.25 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and 13/2 K/BB ratio over his first 12 innings (two starts) this season before straining his lat in early April.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that the Padres are working to trade Chris Denorfia "soon."

Cotillo says the Giants, Blue Jays, and Mariners are among the teams expressing interest in Denorfia, who can become a free agent after this season. The 34-year-old is batting just .244/.295/.321 so far in 2014, but his career line is much better than that and he can play all three outfield spots. The Padres have already moved closer Huston Street and third baseman Chase Headley this month.
