Salvador Perez (concussion) was cleared for a light workout on Wednesday afternoon.

Perez will ride a stationary bike for 15 minutes and see if any post-concussion symptoms remain. He has been on the 7-day concussion disabled list since taking a foul ball of his catcher's mask on August 3.

Cubs acquired OF Austin Jackson from the Mariners in exchange for a player to be named later.

The M's are also surely sending cash the Cubs' way to cover what's left of Jackson's $7.7 million salary. Jackson is hitting just .272/.312/.387 this season, but he gives the Cubs more depth and offers them another option in the outfield with Jorge Soler (oblique) injured.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Giants are "still talking" to the Red Sox about Alejandro De Aza.

Rosenthal notes that San Francisco "would prefer to add an infielder," but it's "possible" they wind up with De Aza. De Aza could offer them protection with Hunter Pence (oblique) still on the shelf and Angel Pagan's health status always shaky. The veteran outfielder has hit .292/.347/.484 in 60 games for the Red Sox.

Carlos Martinez will not make his scheduled start on Tuesday due to a back injury.

It looks like a move made to give Martinez some rest as much (or more) than it is about a back injury. He's currently on pace to throw 192 2/3 innings, which would eclipse last season's career-high workload by about 80 frames. Martinez should be ready to go early next week. Marco Gonzales will start in Martinez's place Tuesday.
Aug 31 - 5:54 PM

Corey Dickerson (ribs) will take batting practice on Monday.

It will be his first time doing so since he suffered non-displaced fractures of two ribs back in late July. Dickerson probably half-jokingly said that he could play Tuesday if the Rockies would let him, but they won't. Regardless, it does appear he's making progress so we can't rule out him regaining fantasy relevance in September.
Aug 31 - 5:40 PM

Rougned Odor (finger) is back in the Rangers' lineup Monday.

It's Odor's first start since he cracked the fingernail on his right middle finger last Tuesday. The young infielder has hit .336/.369/.581 since returning from the minors.
Aug 31 - 5:30 PM

Yunel Escobar (hand) is back in the Nationals' lineup Monday.

It's his first game since he was hit on the right hand by a pitch last Thursday. Escobar has had a surprisingly nice season with a .308/.367/.423 batting line and nine homers.
Aug 31 - 4:43 PM

Mark Teixeira (shin) has been sent back to New York to undergo more tests and has been ruled out for the series versus the Red Sox.

The Yankees wish they had a mulligan on this one, as it's clear Teixeira should have been placed on the disabled list a while ago. As it is, they won't make a move now with rosters expanding on Tuesday. Obviously more will be known when the test results come back, but Teixeira is simply in too much pain to play now. Alex Rodriguez is expected to get a start at first base on Wednesday, but Greg Bird will continue to play versus righties.
Aug 31 - 4:29 PM

Carlos Correa (hamstring) is back in the Astros' lineup Monday.

Correa missed four games with a strained left hamstring, but he felt fine while running the bases and doing agility drills Monday. The stud shortstop sports a .278/.347/.510 batting line with 15 homers, 43 RBI and 11 steals over 68 games.
Aug 31 - 4:25 PM

Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) has been cleared to ramp up his baseball activities.

Pedroia has been coming around slowly but surely and looks to still be in line to return on September 10. The Red Sox' second baseman has been dealing with a right hamstring issue since the end of June.
Aug 31 - 4:22 PM

Lucas Duda (back) is not expected to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on September 6.

Mets manager Terry Collins hasn't officially ruled Duda out for this weekend, but it's looking very unlikely since he's yet to be cleared to take any swings. Duda is dealing with a small thoracic disc herniation in his back and has been taking anti-inflammatories and doing exercises to combat the issue. More should be known on his status later in the week.
Aug 31 - 4:19 PM

Ben Revere is leading off for the Blue Jays again on Monday night against the Indians.

Revere also hit there Sunday and went 0-for-4 with a walk in the Blue Jays' win over the Tigers. He's not the best fit to bat first in the loaded Toronto lineup, but it does obviously give a huge boost to his fantasy stock.
