Phillies placed LHP John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinosis.

Lannan suffered the injury during Wednesday's start in what was essentially an aggravation of a previous injury. The Phillies haven't provided a timetable for his return, but since he missed two months of action earlier this year with the ailment there's a good chance his season is over.

Hanley Ramirez was diagnosed with a right toe contusion after leaving Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Ramirez got struck on the right foot by a Jorge De La Rosa pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning and was replaced at first base in the top of the fifth by Travis Shaw. X-rays turned up negative for any fractures and Hanley can be considered day-to-day. He finished 0-for-2 with the HBP.

Rangers pitching coach Doug Brocail told reporters that Yu Darvish (elbow) will likely be limited to 85-90 pitches in his 2016 debut Saturday versus the Pirates.

"That would be a good pitch count," Brocail said. "It all depends on how he looks during the game and how many pitches he has. We're not going to have him go out there and throw 150 pitches. Hopefully he gets out there and uses his fastball to get early outs and uses his pitches wisely and keeps us in the game." Darvish threw 87 pitches over six scoreless innings in his final rehab start Sunday with Double-A Frisco. He had a 0.90 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and 21/6 K/BB ratio in 20 total rehab innings. The ace right-hander is returning from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.

According to Ben Badler of Baseball America, the Dodgers had "a big crew" at a showcase Tuesday afternoon in the Dominican Republic that featured Cuban outfielder Lazaro Armenteros and Cuban second baseman Jose Miguel Fernandez.

Under their new ownership group the Dodgers have become the most aggressive spenders on international talent in Major League Baseball, and Armenteros and Fernandez are among the most popular names on this year's market. Armenteros, commonly referred to as "Lazarito," is a 17-year-old outfielder with a wide variety of scouting reports -- some very promising, some not so promising. At one point there was talk of him commanding a record sum, but that has cooled. Hernandez is a 27-year-old with a MLB-ready profile, but he was granted free agency in late April and remains unsigned. There's always an element of mystery with these Cuban signings.

Yasmani Grandal (ankle) is back in the Dodgers' starting lineup Tuesday versus the Reds.

Grandal missed a few games after fouling a ball off his right ankle on Saturday. He's starting at catcher and batting eighth Tuesday night against Reds righty Daniel Wright. It will be Winkler's major league debut.

Andrelton Simmons (thumb) has begun baseball activities, per MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez.

That includes swinging a bat, playing catch, and fielding grounders. Simmons is just two weeks into his recovery from a UCL tear in his left thumb and will probably remain on the disabled list through much of June. The original timetable issued May 12 called for an absence of 6-8 weeks.
May 24 - 6:17 PM

Hunter Pence (hamstring) is out of the Giants' starting lineup again on Tuesday versus the Padres.

Jarrett Parker will start in left field and bat seventh and Gregor Blanco will start in right field and bat eighth. Pence has been bothered by hamstring discomfort since Saturday, though he did hit a walkoff bloop double on Monday night against the Padres. He remains day-to-day.
May 24 - 6:14 PM

Robinson Chirinos (forearm) could be ready for activation from the 60-day disabled list when first eligible on June 9.

That comes from beat writer Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Chirinos was given a recovery timetable of 10-12 weeks when he underwent surgery for a broken right ulna on April 11. He'd be coming in two weeks ahead of that. It's a promising injury update for a Rangers team that needs promising injury updates.
May 24 - 6:10 PM

Reds purchased the contract of RHP Daniel Wright from Triple-A Louisville.

Wright will make his major league debut Tuesday night against the Dodgers and could stick around for a while if things go well. He was sporting a brilliant 0.79 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and 32/5 K/BB ratio through 34 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A, but the 25-year-old former 10th-round pick faces a tough task at Dodger Stadium and can probably be ignored for now in most fantasy leagues.
May 24 - 5:54 PM

Jason Kipnis is getting the day off Tuesday.

Jose Ramirez will start at second base and bat second versus White Sox left-hander Chris Sale. Kipnis is slashing .255/.276/.345 against lefties this season and .294/.353/.487 against right-handers.
May 24 - 5:28 PM

Ian Kinsler was scratched from the Tigers' lineup Tuesday due to flu-like symptoms.

Mike Aviles will start at second base and Cameron Maybin will bat leadoff versus Phillies right-hander Jeremy Hellickson. Kinsler is considered day-to-day.
May 24 - 5:17 PM

Padres activated RHP Andrew Cashner from the 15-day disabled list.

Cashner will start for the Padres on Tuesday night against the Angels after missing the last three weeks with a strained right hamstring. The right-hander registered an underwhelming 4.93 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 28/14 K/BB ratio over his first 34 2/3 innings this season.
