Orioles optioned DH/OF Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk.

Urrutia struggled during his brief time with the Orioles, hitting .269/.269/.308 with a pair of RBI and nine strikeouts in 52 at-bats. He'll presumably return to punishing Triple-A pitching as he awaits another opportunity with the big league club.

Aledmys Diaz (eye) is back in the Cardinals' lineup Friday.

Diaz missed a few days of action after a pitch he foul-tipped bounced off the dirt and caught him above the eye. He's batting second and playing shortstop against Matt Garza and the Brewers.

Yunel Escobar (knee) remained out of the Angels' lineup Friday.

He's now missed seven straight games with a bone bruise in his left knee. The Angels had been eyeing Friday as a possible return for the third baseman, so you've got to think there's a good chance he'll be placed on the disabled list at this point. Jefry Marte is at third base Friday.
Jul 1 - 3:52 PM

Alex Colome (biceps) hopes to throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

Colome played catch without issue Thursday and will do it again Friday. He thinks there's a chance he'll be activated on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. "For sure... Maybe," Colome said.
Jul 1 - 3:50 PM

Jason Heyward (side) is back in the Cubs' lineup Friday.

Heyward missed a couple days of action with some tightness in his left side. He's in right field and batting second against Jacob deGrom and the Mets.
Jul 1 - 3:40 PM

Curtis Granderson (calf) is not expected to return to the lineup this weekend.

The good news is that it's not expected to be a disabled list situation. The Mets have Brandon Nimmo in right field and in the leadoff spot again Friday, while Kelly Johnson is handling left.
Jul 1 - 3:29 PM

Hanley Ramirez (side) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Ramirez's side tightened up on him after a swing Wednesday, forcing him from the game. It doesn't seem to be a potential disabled lit injury, but he's not ready to play yet. The Red Sox have Travis Shaw at first base and Marco Hernandez at third.
Jul 1 - 3:08 PM

The Nationals have not yet ruled out Stephen Strasburg (back) starting on Sunday against the Reds.

Manager Dusty Baker said that Strasburg is feeling good and wants to make the start, but the club is still trying to decide whether they should hold him back a bit longer. While Lucas Giolito does still seem like a pretty good bet for Sunday, it does seem like there's a much better chance for Strasburg to take the ball than there was a day or two ago.

Twins optioned DH Byung-ho Park to Triple-A Rochester.

The writing had been on the wall, as Park was really struggling and receiving less and less playing time. He's batted just .191/.275/.409 on the season and only .123/.208/.236 over his last 30 games. He'll hope to iron out his issues at Rochester and earn another opportunity.
Jul 1 - 12:40 PM

Twins activated 3B/OF Miguel Sano from the 15-day disabled list.

Sano missed a month of action with a strained hamstring but is ready to go after eight rehab games. He would appear to be in line to receive most of his at-bats in the designated hitter spot with Byung-ho Park being optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Max Kepler should continue playing regularly in right field.
Jul 1 - 12:37 PM

The Blue Jays don't expect to get Jose Bautista (toe) back before the All-Star break.

It's no surprise, as Bautista remains in a walking boot and shut down from baseball activities as he battles turf toe. There is no timetable for the slugger's return. Ezequiel Carrera has been handling right field and the leadoff spot for the Jays.
Jul 1 - 11:09 AM

Buster Posey went 2-for-6 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 12-6 win over the A's.

Posey slugged a three-run homer to center off A's starter Dillon Overton in the third inning. The stalwart backstop has notched multiple hits in three of the last five games. On the whole, he is slashing .288/.349/.464 with 18 doubles, nine homers and 39 RBI across 267 at-bats.
