Nationals optioned LHP Ian Krol to Triple-A Syracuse.

Krol has really struggled of late, posting a 6.43 ERA over his last eight appearances. The left-hander will be back next month.

Didi Gregorius went 3-for-3 and swatted a home run during a 7-4 win over the Twins on Wednesday.

He laced an RBI-single in the first inning and upped the ante with a solo homer in the third frame. Gregorius is rocking a .347 batting average and is second in the majors with nine home runs. He leads the majors with 29 RBI. The 28-year-old shortstop was formerly best known for his glove but his bat has turned the tables.

Chad Kuhl struck out eight hitters and allowed three runs in six innings in an 8-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday.

Kuhl gave up a two-run shot to Leonys Martin in the fifth inning, but outside of that he was solid in the victory. The right-hander's ERA now sits at 4.55, but he's struck out 25 hitters in just-under 28 innings, and that ERA should start to drop with a little more luck. He's an intriguing streaming option or DFS play against weaker lineups, but you probably should avoid him on Monday when he faces the Nationals in Washington.

Mookie Betts homered twice and drove in three runs to lead his team over the Blue Jays 4-3 on Wednesday.

He led off the game with a solo shot against starter Aaron Sanchez. He came to the plate with the Red Sox trailing by a run in the seventh inning when he slugged a two-run homer that provided his team with the winning runs. Betts has to be considered an early MVP candidate due to his .350/.442/.750 triple-slash with eight homers and 17 RBI. He leads the majors with 25 runs scored as well.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway told reporters that he wouldn't commit to Stephen Matz making his next start.

Matz is scheduled to throw on Tuesday against the Braves. It sounds like that start might be in jeopardy now. "We need to sit down and talk to Matz and figure out how we can help him," Callaway told reporters. The southpaw has yet to go more than 5 1/3 innings in any of his starts, and he's gone four or less in three of the five. We recently saw the Mets remove Matt Harvey from the rotation. We might see the same thing with Matz.

Kris Bryant (head) could return to the lineup on Thursday after meeting with team physicians.

Bryant will reportedly meet with team physician Dr. Stephen Adams when the team returns to Chicago on Thursday, and if that meeting goes well, he could be back at third base for their game that day against the Brewers. The 26-year-old third baseman has gotten off to a sensational start on the season with a 1.003 OPS to show for it, and he'd be a welcome addition to the Chicago lineup for their big four-game series against Milwaukee.

Trevor Bauer struck out eight batters and allowed just one run in 6 2/3 innings to beat the Cubs 4-1 on Wednesday.

It was a strong outing against a very good lineup. Bauer scattered just four singles and three walks in the contest and improved his record to 2-2 after five starts. He has a marvelous 2.41 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 35 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings. Bauer will face off against Cole Hamels and the Rangers on Monday.
Apr 25 - 10:56 PM

Ronald Acuna drew the start in left field and snared his first major league hit while making his debut against the Reds on Wednesday.

The game's top prospect went 1-for-5 with a single and two strikeouts in his long-awaited debut. He singled in the eighth inning and scored the tying run as the Braves rallied to a victory. He will probably start nearly every day from here on out and could make a fantasy impact right away if he lives up to the hype.
Apr 25 - 10:20 PM

Andrew Miller left Wednesday's game against the Cubs with left hamstring tightness.

Miller threw just two pitches before clutching his leg, and Cleveland didn't hesitate to pull the left-hander from the game. Miller should be considered day-to-day for now, but he'll likely undergo testing to make sure there isn't further damage to the hamstring. Cleveland will likely be extra careful with one of the most important pitchers on the roster.

Francisco Cervelli drove in six of the Pirates’ 10 runs Wednesday in a loss to the Tigers.

He reached in four of his five plate appearances, contributing a walk, two singles, a double, a home run and one run scored. Cervelli’s home run was of the three-run variety and came in the third inning off Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann. He also committed a throwing error but we’re sure Cervelli’s fantasy owners aren’t complaining about his afternoon. Cervelli is now tied with Gary Sanchez for the MLB lead among catchers with 18 RBI.
Apr 25 - 8:21 PM

Miguel Cabrera collected four hits Wednesday in the Tigers’ win over Pittsburgh.

Cabrera provided four of Detroit’s 20 hits in a 13-10 slugfest. His afternoon included a single, three doubles, three runs scored and two RBI. Cabrera has erupted over his last seven games, batting .520 with seven RBI during that span. His .329 average for the year ranks 10th-best in the American League.
Apr 25 - 8:18 PM

Jeimer Candelario scored five times while going 3-for-5 Wednesday in the Tigers’ 13-10 win over the Pirates.

Candelario doubled, singled and homered while also reaching base on a fielder’s choice and a throwing error. His lone RBI came in the sixth inning when he launched a solo shot to right field off Pirates reliever Edgar Santana. That was one of four home runs hit by the Tigers on Wednesday. Candelario is beginning his first full season in the big leagues but you wouldn’t know it by the way he’s been hitting. He’s hit .292 in the early going with four round-trippers, six doubles and 11 RBI.
