White Sox recalled INF Leury Garcia from Triple-A Charlotte.

Garcia was acquired from the Rangers earlier this month in the Alex Rios trade. The athletic 22-year-old could take on fantasy value as a base-stealer if he gets enough playing time on the south side of Chicago.

Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.

Rizzo launched his three-run homer off of Brewers starter Matt Garza in the third inning. It was his 20th of the year and pushed his RBI total to an even 60. After a prolonged power-drought that saw just one home run in 31 games, Rizzo's now homered in four straight games. He's hitting .290/.400/.531 over 373 at-bats this season.

Kyle Hendricks pitched well in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Brewers, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings.

With the win, Hendricks improved to 5-5 on the year. He struck out six and walked two, with only a Khris Davis RBI single in the fourth inning mucking up the potential shutout. Hendricks has been a dependable starter this season and holds a 3.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 103/25 K/BB ratio across 122 2/3 innings. He's set to take on the Giants at Wrigley in his next scheduled start.

Lucas Duda had a huge impact on Saturday's 3-2 win over the Nationals, hitting a pair of solo home runs and a go-ahead RBI double.

The Mets brought Yoenis Cespedis over at the trade deadline to bolster a shoddy offense, but on Saturday, Duda did it all on his own. He launched a solo home run against Nationals starter Joe Ross in the fourth inning, then repeated the feat in the seventh. That second homer tied the game at 2-2. A frame later, he smacked an RBI double off Nationals reliever Matt Thornton to put the Mets up 3-2. This would stand as the final. Duda has produced multi-homer efforts in three of his last seven games to help boost his slash to .246/.347/.481 with 20 home runs and 48 RBI.

J.D. Martinez left Saturday's game with a left knee contusion.

Martinez fouled a ball off his knee in his first at-bat of the game. His X-rays came back negative and the Tigers are calling him day-to-day. Tyler Collins replaced Martinez in right field and could start there Sunday if Martinez is too sore to play.

Kyle Schwarber will remain with the Cubs after Miguel Montero is activated from the disabled list.

"We want his bat in the lineup," said manager Joe Maddon. Schwarber is still a work in progress behind the plate but it's hard to send him down to the minors when he's hitting .323 with a .523 slugging percentage. Schwarber has started two games in left field and could see more action there when Montero returns from his thumb injury later this week.

Rays placed OF Steven Souza on the 15-disabled list with a fractured left hand.

Souza left Saturday's game after getting hit by a pitch from Joe Kelly. It didn't look good and his X-rays confirmed the worst. The 26-year-old has shown above power this season with 15 homers in 308 at-bats. Brandon Guyer and Grady Sizemore should see more playing time in his absence. The Rays are probably wishing they had kept David DeJesus, who was traded to the Angels earlier this week.

David Wright (back) is close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment.

Wright will move his rehab to the team's minor league facility in St. Lucie when the Mets begin their six-game road trip next week. The seven-time All-Star has been sidelined by spinal stenosis since April 14. Daniel Murphy has been plugging away at third base in Wright's absence.

Chris Tillman (ankle) is not expected to make his scheduled start Monday against the Athletics.

His sprained ankle is feeling better but he's not ready to pitch yet. The Orioles are optimistic Tillman won't require a trip to the disabled list. It's unclear who would start in his place, though Tyler Wilson could be a possibility. Tillman hurled a gem in his last outing, scattering four hits over 8 2/3 shutout innings Wednesday in a win against the Braves.

Travis Shaw had a career-day at the plate on Saturday, powering the Red Sox to an 11-7 victory over the Rays.

Shaw was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket before the game and was penciled into the lineup at third base. He had been 3-for-15 on the season without any extra-base hits. He started his day with a leadoff double in the second inning and would come around to cross home plate. He then belted a solo homer off Matt Moore in the third inning. Shaw singled and came around to score in the fifth inning, then walked and scored another run in the sixth. To top it all off, he slugged a two-run homer off Kirby Yates in the eighth, finishing the afternoon 4-for-4 plus a walk with a double, two homers, three RBI and five runs scored. It's certainly an afternoon he'll never forget.
Aug 1 - 5:26 PM

Ben Zobrist clubbed a pair of solo home runs on Saturday, leading the Royals to a 7-6 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Zobrist got the scoring started with a solo shot off Jays starter Mark Buehrle in the first inning. He then took Mark Lowe deep in the eighth inning, tying the game at 5-5 and igniting a rally that would lead the Royals to victory. He also doubled in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

C.J. Wilson will undergo surgery to repair a left elbow impingement and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2015 season.

Wilson alerted the Angels to the news prior to the trade deadline. He has been pitching with bone spurs in his elbow since April, but his range of motion has diminished recently which necessitated the surgery. He should be fully healthy and ready to go for the start of the 2015 season.
