According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, reliever Heath Bell was recently placed on revocable waivers.

It's a common thing this time of year and doesn't mean a transaction is coming. Bell has a 3.88 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 62/13 K/BB ratio in 55 2/3 innings this season -- pretty good numbers considering how often he's been hit hard. The 35-year-old has yielded 10 home runs.

Rafael Devers was hitless over four at-bats in Seattle on Tuesday in his major league debut.

Devers also grounded into a double play, and that's the bad news. The good news is he drew a pair of walks, showing tremendous patience at the plate while seeing 23 pitches in his six plate appearances. It was a tough assignment facing the hard-throwing Felix Hernandez in his debut. Perhaps he'll fare better against Andrew Moore on Wednesday, a pitcher with a 5.70 ERA.

Madison Bumgarner allowed one earned run, six hits and a walk with four strikeouts across five innings to nail down his first win of the season Tuesday against Pittsburgh.

Bumgarner has had a strange and bumpy road this season. Normally his first victory comes in the first or second start of a new campaign, but he dropped his first four decisions and also missed two months due to a shoulder injury. He is starting to pitch like his normal ace-like self, posting a 1-1 record and 3.92 ERA over three outings since returning from the 10-day disabled list. He is likely to continue trending in a positive direction as he builds up his stamina.

Red Sox acquired INF/OF Eduardo Nunez from the Giants for RHP Shaun Anderson and RHP Gregory Santos.

Nunez had a double, two RBI, and two runs scored for the Giants on Tuesday night against the Pirates before getting lifted in the bottom of the fifth inning. Shortly thereafter, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal broke word of the trade to Boston. Nunez has been hitting well lately and can play a variety of positions for the Red Sox, but look for top prospect Rafael Devers to continue getting most of the starts at third base. Nunez, a 30-year-old impending free agent, will work in more of a utility role.

Yoenis Cespedes made an early exit from Tuesday night's win over the Padres due to quad tightness.

Cespedes came out of the game after rounding the bases on a Little League home run (triple, error) in the top of the seventh inning. He hit a real home run in the top of the first inning and an RBI double in the top of the fifth, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Cespedes may get the day off Wednesday.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Brewers are recalling top outfield prospect Lewis Brinson.

Brinson struggled in his first stay at the major league level earlier this season, slashing .097/.200/.161 with 13 strikeouts in 14 games, but the talented 23-year-old has been tearing it up at Triple-A Colorado Springs and should see regular starts down the stretch with the in-contention Brewers. We'd expect much better results this time around.

Edwin Encarnacion blasted a walkoff grand slam on Tuesday, propelling the Indians to an 11-7 victory over the visiting Angels.

Encarnacion victimized Angels' closer Bud Norris in the 11th inning. The stage was set after Bradley Zimmer and Francisco Lindor drew walks, then Michael Brantley was walked intentionally to load the bases. Encarnacion also doubled in the ballgame and walked twice, finishing the night 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. He's now hitting .262/.377/.491 with 21 homers and 59 RBI.

Zack Cozart aggravated his left quad injury on Tuesday night against the Yankees.

Cozart was held out of the Reds' starting lineup as a precautionary measure for the lingering injury, but he entered as a pinch-hitter in the eighth and had to beat out a fielder's choice to first base. Cozart was then pulled after limping into third after Billy Hamilton's two-out double to right field -- a hit Cozart normally would have scored on. This situation comes with awful timing for the rebuilding Reds, who were aiming to deal the impending free agent shortstop ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.
Jul 25 - 11:55 PM

Paul DeJong belted a two-run homer and added a single in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.

DeJong took Jon Gray deep in the bottom of the first inning to get the scoring going and also singled off Gray in the fifth. With Dexter Fowler (forearm) on the disabled list, it looks like DeJong is going to stick in the third spot in the Cardinals' lineup for now. He has 13 homers with the big club over just 183 plate appearances, and 12 of them have come over his last 35 games.
Jul 25 - 11:42 PM

Joey Gallo swatted a pair of solo home runs on Tuesday, leading the Rangers to a 10-4 rout over the Marlins.

Gallo tagged Marlins' starter Dan Straily with a solo blast in the second inning that put the Rangers ahead 2-1. He increased that lead to 5-1 with another solo shot in the fourth. Gallo finished the night 2-for-3 plus a walk and scored three runs. He's hitting .199/.315/.535 with 25 homers and 45 RBI on the year.
Jul 25 - 11:22 PM

Zach Davies held the Nationals off the scoreboard for 7 2/3 innings in Tuesday's 8-0 victory.

Davies was marvelous against a tough lineup (albeit one that's not at full strength), holding the Nats to just three hits and three walks while recording seven strikeouts. The 7 2/3 frames and 114 pitches were a season high for Davies, and the seven punchouts tied his career high. He's put together back-to-back excellent outings and will try to keep it going on Sunday versus the Cubs.
Jul 25 - 11:11 PM

Travis Shaw belted a three-run homer and reached base four times in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Shaw's blast came off of Edwin Jackson in the fourth inning and was one of three longballs that Jackson served up on the night. The Brewers' third baseman also had a single and drew a pair of walks. Shaw has been incredible in his first season in Milwaukee, as he's on pace for 37 homers, 116 RBI, 92 runs and 11 stolen bases.
