Marlins activated INF Placido Polanco from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Polanco displayed concussion symptoms after he was hit in the head by a pitch on August 16, but he managed to return as soon as he was eligible. The 37-year-old is batting just .253/.308/.292 with one home run and 21 RBI in 91 games this year.

Ike Davis finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored Saturday in his Pirates debut.

Davis doubled in his first at-bat, walked in his second at-bat, and singled in his third at-bat. He's expected to start versus right-handers and seems poised to hit near the middle of the Pirates' batting order, making him a worthwhile add in most mixed fantasy leagues. Davis tallied 32 home runs and 90 RBI in 2012 with the Mets.

Jordan Lyles limited the Phillies to one (unearned) run in seven innings Saturday in the Rockies' 3-1 win.

Lyles was sharp, scattering five hits and a walk over his seven innings. He struck out just two batters and owns an underwhelming 14/6 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings this season, but the other stats have been great. The 23-year-old will carry a 3-0 start, 3.04 ERA, and 1.14 WHIP into his next scheduled outing on the road against the Dodgers.
Apr 19 - 11:12 PM

Chris Archer tossed 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball in the Rays' 16-1 win over the Yankees on Saturday.

It was a big bounceback outing from the 25-year-old right-hander, who was hammered for seven runs in five innings Monday by the Orioles. He stymied the Yankees offense to three hits and zero walks Saturday at Tropicana Field, striking out four batters. Archer will carry a 2-1 record, 3.65 ERA, and 1.22 WHIP into his next outing in Chicago against the White Sox.
Apr 19 - 10:58 PM

According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, the Mets are likely to make a change at closer.

Valverde surrendered three runs Saturday against the Braves in his latest of a string of rough outings. Mets manager Terry Collins said he would address his players before making an official announcement to the media. Vic Black has been putting up zeroes at Triple-A, but his control is still an issue. The Mets might go with a committee.
Apr 19 - 10:51 PM

Ervin Santana held the Mets to one run over seven innings Saturday in the Braves' 7-5 victory.

Santana was again excellent, scattering six hits and two walks over his seven frames while racking up seven strikeouts. He's 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 24/4 K/BB ratio through 21 innings (three starts) with Atlanta. A home start against the Reds is next.
Apr 19 - 10:43 PM

Adam Eaton was removed from Saturday's game against the Rangers with a mild left hamstring strain.

Eaton was 0-for-3 when he left in the fifth inning for Alejandro De Aza. The White Sox are listing him as day-to-day for now, but hamstring strains -- even mild ones -- often lead to disabled list stints.
Apr 19 - 10:35 PM

Ryan Braun went 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBI in Saturday's 8-7 comeback win over the Pirates.

Braun hit a solo shot in the seventh inning to get the Brewers back within one run and then slugged a go-ahead two-run bomb in the top of the ninth. He boasts a .919 OPS, five homers, and 13 RBI in 16 games this season, and seems to be managing his thumb injury just fine.
Apr 19 - 10:30 PM

Francisco Rodriguez picked up his sixth save of the season Saturday in the Brewers' win over the Pirates.

K-Rod tossed a perfect ninth inning to lock down Milwaukee's 13th win in 18 games. He has not been scored upon in 2014 and has been among the most valuable fantasy closers through the first three weeks of the season. It was K-Rod's 310th career save, tying him with Goose Gossage for 20th on the all-time major league leaderboard.
Apr 19 - 10:23 PM

Ivan Nova left his start Saturday against the Rays after experiencing right elbow soreness.

Tests are already in the works. Nova had allowed eight earned runs in four innings at the time of his departure, inflating his season ERA from 5.94 to 8.27.
Apr 19 - 10:07 PM

Henderson Alvarez tossed a shutout Saturday in the Marlins' 7-0 stomping of the Mariners.

It was the third career shutout for Alvarez, who looked sharp all night and even carried a perfect game into the sixth inning. He surrendered just two hits in all while fanning four batters and issuing zero walks. The 24-year-old right-hander will try to stay hot in his next start on the road against the Mets. Consistency has been an issue for him.
Apr 19 - 9:45 PM

Josh Reddick hit a walkoff RBI single to lead the A's past the Astros on Saturday in Oakland.

Reddick capped off a three-run A's rally in the bottom of the ninth inning with his game-ending RBI single to center field. He also had two other singles on the afternoon, finishing 3-for-5. This after going 3-for-4 with a two-run homer on Friday night.
