The Pirates will place Starling Marte on the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game.

Marte took a fastball off his helmet on Friday, and although he was cleared off a possible concussion and played Monday, it appears he's had a setback. The Pirates should provide more on his status later Wednesday. Brent Morel will take his spot on the roster.

While the designated hitter is sporting a lowly .599 OPS, he's picked it up of late with a 12-game hitting streak. The Mariners, Brewers, Yankees and Royals were among the teams pursuing Morales before the Twins signed him, but it's not which if any of those clubs could still have interest in the 31-year-old.
