Domonic Brown (heel) won't do any baseball-related activities for at least another week.

Brown hasn't played since Sunday due to mild tendinitis in his right Achilles tendon and the out-of-contention Phillies are not going to rush him. "I just want to get the inflammation out of there," the blossoming 26-year-old outfielder said Wednesday. "It keeps nagging."

Kyle Farmer hit a pinch-hit go-ahead two-run double in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday as the Dodgers beat the Cubs 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Cubs closer Brandon Morrow was apparently unavailable for this one and the Dodgers took advantage of a weaker crop of relievers to earn a big comeback victory at Wrigley Field. Farmer hit the double off left-hander Justin Wilson, after Austin Barnes drew a leadoff walk and Justin Turner roped a one-out single.

Mets placed OF Jay Bruce on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 18, with a hip injury.

Bruce had missed four of the Mets' last five games due to back and hip issues, and he'll now be sidelined for at least the next nine days. The 31-year-old outfielder has batted just .212/.292/.321 with three home runs and 17 RBI in 236 plate appearances this season for New York. He's in the first year of a three-year, $39 million free agent deal.

Stephen Strasburg (shoulder) still hasn't resumed throwing.

Nationals manager Davey Martinez told reporters Tuesday that Strasburg is still in the strength-building phase of his rehab. The 29-year-old right-hander has been on the disabled list since June 10 with shoulder inflammation and there is currently no timetable for his return to the Nats' starting rotation. He seems unlikely to be ready before the All-Star break, unless he can ramp things up soon.
Jun 19 - 4:47 PM

Rays activated OF Kevin Kiermaier from the 60-day disabled list.

Kiermaier is starting in center field and batting leadoff on Tuesday night against the Astros after missing a little over two months with a torn ligament in his right thumb. He went 7-for-17 (.412) with a triple and a double in five rehab games and can be plugged back into fantasy lineups immediately.
Jun 19 - 4:42 PM

Nationals recalled RHP Jefry Rodriguez from Triple-A Syracuse.

Rodriguez is set to make his first major league start on Tuesday night against the Orioles. He has good swing-and-miss stuff and makes for an intriguing deep-league fantasy streaming option versus the strikeout-prone Baltimore lineup. But this will likely be a spot start only for the 24-year-old right-hander.
Jun 19 - 4:24 PM

Nationals placed 1B Matt Adams on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left index finger.

Adams was struck on the hand while attempting to bunt on Friday, and it took a couple of days for the Nats to discover the small fracture. It's unclear how long he will be sidelined. The left-handed-hitting first baseman boasts a .275/.351/.575 batting line with 13 home runs and 36 RBI in 57 games this season with Washington.
Jun 19 - 4:18 PM

Austin Meadows is dealing with a sore right foot.

Meadows fouled a ball off that foot on Sunday and has been held out of the Pirates' starting lineup in two consecutive games. Corey Dickerson, Starling Marte, and Gregory Polanco make up the Pirates' starting outfield on Tuesday night against the Brewers. Meadows could return to action on Wednesday.
Jun 19 - 3:56 PM

Travis Shaw (wrist) remains out of the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Pirates.

Shaw tweaked his right wrist on Sunday and will now miss his second straight start. He's considered day-to-day for now. Hernan Perez is getting another start at the hot corner in his absence.
Jun 19 - 3:43 PM

Brett Gardner (knee) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mariners.

Gardner has now missed three straight starts with right knee soreness. He's considered day-to-day for now. Clint Frazier will start in left field and bat ninth.
Jun 19 - 3:28 PM

Matt Kemp was ejected from the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs for arguing a called third strike in the fifth inning.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was also ejected after trying to back up his player. Enrique Hernandez replaced Kemp in the field.
Jun 19 - 3:07 PM

Orioles designated DH/INF Pedro Alvarez for assignment.

Steve Wilkerson will take his spot on the 40-man roster. Alvarez has struggled with a rough .180/.283/.414 batting line and eight homers through 45 games this season.
