Rockies activated LHP Drew Pomeranz from the 15-day disabled list.

Pomeranz has been out since mid-July with tendinitis in his left bicep. It's unclear if he'll immediately return to the rotation, or if he'll work out of the bullpen for the time being. The 24-year-old southpaw owns a troubling 8.10 ERA and 2.52 WHIP through 16 2/3 innings with the Rockies this season.

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a two-run double in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Teixeira got the party started early, driving a two-run home run in the first inning off of Jason Vargas. He tacked on a two-run double in the fifth and later scored as the Yankees went up 5-0. Teixeira has shown no signs of slowing down as May nears its end. He's batting .243/.365/.588 with 14 home runs and 35 RBI.

Justin Verlander (triceps) is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Sunday.

Verlander looked "very good" in a 70-pitch simulated game on Tuesday, according to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. If he feels good Wednesday, he'll be officially cleared for a rehab assignment. Verlander unsuccessfully lobbied for more work Tuesday so that he could avoid a minor league start and go right back into the rotation, so it sounds like Sunday's rehab start would likely be his only one. That would likely put him in line to rejoin the Tigers' rotation on June 5 in Chicago. The veteran right-hander has been sidelined all season with a strained right triceps.

Avisail Garcia (knee) won't return Wednesday.

Garcia left Monday's game in Toronto after experiencing renewed discomfort in his right knee and he is not in the lineup Tuesday. The White Sox have decided to keep him off the heavily-criticized new turf at Rogers Centre. J.B. Shuck is filling in for Chicago.
May 26 - 5:47 PM

Jean Segura (finger) will be activated Friday.

A followup X-ray taken Monday on Segura's fractured right pinkie showed significant healing, so the Brewers are going to rush him back without a rehab assignment. Segura only wound up missing 15 days. The 25-year-old shortstop was batting .262/.306/.373 with two home runs and six stolen bases in 33 games before the injury.

Athletics activated LHP Sean Doolittle from the 15-day disabled list.

Doolittle missed the first eight weeks of the 2015 regular season with a slight tear in his left rotator cuff. He struggled a bit on his minor league rehab assignment, but the southpaw should reclaim ninth-inning duties after two or three low-leverage appearances. Doolittle needs to be owned in all standard fantasy formats.
May 26 - 5:37 PM

Anthony Rendon (knee, oblique) played three innings Tuesday in a simulated game.

Rendon even stole third base at one point in the game, which manager Matt Williams took as a sign that he's finally "uninhibited" by his oblique and knee injuries. Rendon should be ready to make his 2015 debut late next week if he's able to avoid further setbacks. The 24-year-old hit .287/.357/.473 with 21 home runs, 17 stolen bases, and 111 runs scored in 153 games last season for Washington.
May 26 - 5:32 PM

Jonathan Lucroy (toe) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with High-A Brevard County.

Lucroy is expected to play four games there and then rejoin the Brewers on Monday in St. Louis. The star catcher has been on the shelf since April 20 with a broken left big toe. Lucroy was batting just .133 with a .393 OPS in 12 games before the injury, but he can get it going in a hurry.
May 26 - 5:05 PM

Jose Fernandez (elbow) is scheduled to begin pitching in extended spring training games Monday.

Fernandez has experienced zero complications in his return from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and is trending toward a July 1 debut. The young ace will probably pitch in three or four games at extended spring training before embarking on a minor league rehab assignment. He owns a ridiculous 2.25 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 257 strikeouts in 224 1/3 career major league frames.
May 26 - 5:02 PM

Brandon Phillips is out of the Reds' lineup Tuesday after aggravating his turf toe.

It's an issue that has been nagging the veteran second baseman for a couple of weeks, and Phillips might now be looking at an extended absence. Kristopher Negron will fill in at second on Tuesday night against the Rockies.
May 26 - 4:42 PM

Giants optioned 3B Casey McGehee to Triple-A Sacramento.

McGehee was designated for assignment by the Giants on Sunday and had the option to become a free agent, but he would have been forfeiting what's left of his $4.8 million salary for 2015. He had an option left, so the 32-year-old third baseman will remain on the Giants' 40-man roster. McGehee will try to work his way back to San Francisco with a strong showing at the Triple-A level.
May 26 - 4:35 PM

Jorge De La Rosa (hand) expects to take his next turn in the Rockies' rotation on Saturday.

De La Rosa had to be scratched Tuesday in Cincinnati with a cut on his pitching hand, but it's no big deal. Chris Rusin is filling in against the Reds and then De La Rosa will be back at it Saturday in Philadelphia.
