Hyun-Jin Ryu picked up his 12th victory of the season on Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits over his six innings of work.

Ryu racked up seven strikeouts on the night while walking just one. The Giants got to him for single runs in the third, fourth and fifth inning, the last one on a solo blast off the bat of Buster Posey. The supersized southpaw will carry a 3.44 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 105/23 K/BB ratio into next weekend’s start against the Cubs.

John Jaso went 2-for-5 and drove home three runs on Sunday, leading the Athletics to a 9-3 victory over the Rangers in Texas.

Jaso singled home a run as part of a five-run uprising in the second inning. He would later add a two-run double in the fifth inning, increasing the A’s advantage to 8-2. He has been one of the better offensive catchers in the American League this season, slashing .286/.361/.471 with eight homers and 38 RBI.

B.J. Upton went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored as the Braves beat the Padres 8-3 on Sunday.

Upton has found a home atop the Braves lineup, as he's now scored 22 runs in 28 games from the leadoff spot. He's also managed to put up a line resembling league average, hitting .243/.306/.360 in the top spot before Sunday's game. He's still striking out too much and isn't hitting for as much power as we're accustomed to seeing from Upton, but it's a start.

Josh Harrison had a monster day on Sunday, going 4-for-6 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in the Pirates' 7-5 victory over the Rockies.

Harrison was 5-for-27 since the All-Star break before Sunday's outburst. He's now hitting .294/.330/.447 with six homers and 13 stolen bases overall. He'll continue to find his way into the Pirates lineup on an everyday basis going forward.

Adam Jones doubled twice and scored two runs, including the game-winning run in the 10th inning, as the Orioles beat the Mariners 3-2 on Sunday.

Jones doubled and scored in the eighth and 10th innings, finishing 2-for-5. He'd had just two doubles all month prior to the game. His 61 runs scored are 10th-most in the American League, and the outfielder is hitting .293/.321/.487 with 19 home runs and 64 RBI overall.

He has completed a minor league rehab stint with Triple-A El Paso and deemed ready to return. Before hitting the shelf in early June, he had hit just .162/.213/.270 with five homers and 24 RBI in his first 56 games.

David Freese hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning to lead the Angels to a 2-1 win over the Tigers on Sunday.

Freese connected on a Joba Chamberlain pitch for his sixth home run of the year. It was his only hit in three at-bats on the day. The third baseman has improved his numbers with a strong July but is batting just .245/.321/.350 overall.

Carlos Santana remained red hot on Sunday, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in the Indians' 10-3 trouncing of the Royals.

Santana has American League Player of the Week honors on lock after going 15-for-27 with six home runs, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base to boot. The 28-year-old has also walked five times in his last three games, a good sign that he's seeing the ball really well right now. After a slow start that plagued him for much of the first half, Santana has his slash line up to a tolerable .232/.371/.456.

Adam Wainwright rebounded from a poor outing his last time out to hold the Cubs scoreless for seven innings in the Cardinals' 1-0 win on Sunday.

Wainwright allowed six runs -- four earned -- over 4 2/3 innings against the Rays earlier in the week, but he stymied the Cubs all afternoon for his NL-best 13th victory. Wainwright wasn't perfect, as he walked three while giving up five hits, but he made pitches when he needed to. The right-hander has a 1.92 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 122/34 K/BB ratio over 149 2/3 innings this year. He'll take on the division-leading Brewers on Saturday.

Lucas Duda hit his second game-winning home run in three days on Sunday, as his two-run homer proved to be the difference in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Brewers.

Duda tortured the Brewers in the four-game set, hitting three homers and driving in six. He's got four home runs in his last six games to give him 18 on the season. The first baseman is batting .259/.356/.500 with 56 RBI and has put himself into the mixed league discussion with his recent power surge.

Steve Cishek allowed a home run but bounced back to preserve the Marlins' 4-2 win over the Astros on Sunday.

Cishek allowed a one-out home run by Jon Singleton, just Cishek's second homer allowed all season, but he came back to strike out Carlos Corporan and Robbie Grossman to earn the save. He's now got 26 saves to go with a 3.38 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the year.
