Giancarlo Stanton left in the eighth inning of Saturday's game with a sore right foot and ankle.

Stanton has been dealing with ankle issues since rolling it last Sunday. "Today, it hurt, I don’t know why, more than almost the first day that it happened," Stanton said after the game. X-rays on the foot and ankle came back negative and he's being considered day-to-day. He'll probably be given the day off on Sunday as a precaution, but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that will force him to miss any significant amount of time.

Nick Delmonico hit two home runs, including one of the inside-the-park variety, during a 4-3 victory over the Rangers.

He swatted a standard two-run shot off starter Andrew Cashner in the sixth inning. He produced the winning run in the eighth inning by lining a deep drive that led the right fielder to crash into the wall and drop to the ground while Delmonico circled the bases. The red-hot rookie has an amazing .382/.452/.691 slash line with five homers and 11 RBI in 15 games. He had a .262 batting average with 12 home runs in 99 games at Triple-A Charlotte before getting the call to the majors.

Sal Romano held the Braves to one run in seven innings while leading his club to a 5-3 win on Friday.

The only damage he allowed was a Matt Adams solo shot in the second inning. The big rookie struck out three batters, walked two and surrendered five base hits in the premium start. It was the best game of his young career. He improves to 3-5 with a 5.42 ERA in nine starts. He draws a tough matchup against the Cubs and Jake Arrieta on Thursday.

Dodgers acquired OF Curtis Granderson and cash considerations from the Mets for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The trade would seem to be bad news for Joc Pederson, who has really struggled during the second half. Granderson, an impending free agent, has quietly been one of the NL's best hitters since getting off to a slow start in April. He should provide a boost against right-handed pitching for the World Series hopeful Dodgers. Granderson will finish his Mets tenure with a .784 OPS (115 OPS+) and 95 homers over 573 games.

Byron Buxton finished a single shy of the cycle Friday versus the Diamondbacks.

This night is what makes it so hard to give up on his talent. We’re used to seeing players fall a triple short of the cycle, but that was no issue for Buxton, who showcased his speed in a big way and scored three runs in the process. The highlight was his inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. The young outfielder had a chance to finish off the cycle in the seventh inning, but he lined out to second base. Buxton has now hit safely in eight consecutive games.

Aroldis Chapman’s struggles continued Friday against the Red Sox, as he allowed two runs on two hits and a walk over one inning of work.

Chapman was asked to keep the Yankees within one run, but he gave up a leadoff single to Rafael Devers before walking Christian Vazquez. He then ignored the baserunners, so they were able to pull off a double steal before Jackie Bradley, Jr. brought them both home on a single to center. Chapman failed to back up home plate on the play, which resulted in a visit from manager Joe Girardi. The southpaw avoided any further damage, but he’s now allowed two earned runs in three straight appearances for the first time in his career. He now owns a 9.95 ERA over seven appearances against the Red Sox this season. While his hamstring issue was apparently minor, something clearly isn’t right here. One wonders how long his leash is as the Yankees try to fight for a playoff spot.

Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with two-run homer and two runs scored in Friday’s victory over the Yankees.

Devers launched a two-run homer in the second inning off Jordan Montgomery and singled and scored in the eighth against Aroldis Chapman. The 20-year-old continues to show remarkable poise during his first stint in the majors. He’s now batting .356/.420/.699 batting line with seven homers and 15 RBI through 19 games.

Manny Machado capped off an absolutely epic night at the plate on Friday with a walk-off grand slam, propelling the Orioles to a 9-7 victory over the Angels.

Machado crushed a two-run homer off of Angels' starter Andrew Heaney in the third inning, pulling the O's to within a run at 5-4. He then victimized Heaney again for a solo shot in the fifth. He saved the best for last though, blasting a walk-off grand slam off of Keynan Middleton in the ninth, finishing the night 3-for-5 with seven RBI. Machado's poor luck from earlier in the season has started to even out and he's now slashing .264/.319/.494 with 26 homers and 81 RBI.

Nelson Cruz went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored during a 7-1 thumping of the Rays on Friday.

He smacked an RBI double in the first inning, doubled and scored in the fifth and drilled a solo homer in the final frame. For the season he has a .293 batting average with 30 home runs and is second in the majors with 98 RBI. The 37-year-old slugger is on pace to smash his career high of 108 RBI set in 2014 with the Orioles.
Aug 18 - 11:01 PM

Chris Taylor went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a pair of RBI on Friday, leading the Dodgers to a 8-5 victory over the Tigers.

Taylor delivered a game-tying RBI double in the second inning, then plated Joc Pederson with a two-bagger in the fourth that increased the Dodgers' advantage to 6-3. He also swiped his 14th base of the season in the contest. The 26-year-old is now hitting a mighty impressive .310/.379/.549 with 17 homers and 58 RBI on the season.
Aug 18 - 10:33 PM

Justin Upton had a monster day at the plate in Friday's loss to the Dodgers, going 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBI.

Upton opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI double off of Rich Hill in the first inning. He then smacked a solo homer that scraped the wall in left field in the third inning, pulling the Tigers to within a run at 4-3. Upton provided a special encore in the ninth, blasting a no-doubter off of Dodgers' star closer Kenley Jansen. He's enjoying a fantastic season overall, slashing .285/.368/.545 with 25 homers and 88 RBI.
Aug 18 - 10:33 PM

Drew Pomeranz left Friday's start against the Yankees due to back spasms.

Pomeranz was forced to exit after tossing 3 1/3 scoreless innings. It doesn't sound overly serious, but more should be known about the status for his next start in a couple of days.
