Twins transferred OF Wilkin Ramirez to the 60-day disabled list.

This was done to open a spot on the 40-man roster. Ramirez is sidelined for the remainder of the season after fracturing his left tibia when fouling a pitch off his leg in late August. He is expected to be fully healthy for spring training.

Alex Rodriguez is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against the Rays.

A-Rod is getting the day off with right-hander Jake Odorizzi on the hill for Tampa Bay. Garrett Jones will serve as the DH and bat sixth. Rodriguez will presumably be back in there Wednesday against left-hander Drew Smyly. He's currently sitting on 659 career home runs, just one shy of tying Willie Mays for fourth on the all-time list.

Ryan Braun is in Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.

Braun was out of the lineup for the second straight day Monday, but it was apparently a manager's decision. However, he'll bat third Tuesday against Reds ace Johnny Cueto. Braun is hitting just .226 with one home run and a .547 OPS so far this season.
Apr 28 - 3:07 PM

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said on MLB Network Radio that Jason Heyward (hamstring) is expected to be in the starting lineup Tuesday.

Heyward tweaked his left hamstring on Sunday and sat out Monday's game, but Matheny said they were just being cautious. Good news for the Cardinals.

Devin Mesoraco (hip) is out of the Reds' lineup again for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Mesoraco is still on the active roster despite the fact that he hasn't started a game since April 11 due to a lingering hip impingement. Of course, he had a pinch-hit appearance on April 26, so putting him on the DL now might not do them much good. He remains day-to-day.

Mike Napoli (illness) is out of the starting lineup for the Red Sox for the second straight day Tuesday.

Napoli is sick and apparently needs another day to rest. Daniel Nava will make the start at first base while Brock Holt will get another start, this time in right field.
Apr 28 - 2:08 PM

Pablo Sandoval (neck) is in Tuesday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

Sandoval left Monday's game due to neck soreness after suffering a bit of whiplash, but he's good to go. The 28-year-old is batting .294/.392/.412 with two home runs and 11 RBI across his first 18 games this season.

Phillies activated OF Domonic Brown from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Brown is now recovered from left Achilles tendinitis, but he batted just .189 (10-for-53) with one home run and a .573 OPS over 15 games between High-A Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley during his minor league rehab assignment. Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg hinted at the possibility of him staying in Triple-A on Monday, so this decision doesn't come as a big surprise, but it shows how far he's fallen in the organization's eyes. Jeff Francoeur and Grady Sizemore will continue to see playing time in the Phillies' outfield for now.
Apr 28 - 1:34 PM

Tuesday's game between the White Sox and Orioles has been postponed due to the ongoing protests in Baltimore.

For the second straight day, the Orioles made the decision to cancel the game after consulting with MLB and state and local officials. No makeup date has been announced. The status for the remainder of the games this week is unclear.
Apr 28 - 11:25 AM

Mets recalled RHP Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Montero is being called up make a spot start Tuesday against the Marlins, which will enable the other Mets starters to all get an extra day of rest. Dillon Gee is coming off back-to-back solid starts, so it's unlikely that Montero will displace him in the starting rotation even with a strong performance.
Apr 28 - 10:05 AM

Jed Lowrie will fly to Houston on Tuesday to undergo an MRI on his right thumb.

Lowrie hurt the thumb when he slid into home plate in the eighth inning on Monday. It was swollen and sore after the game, but there should more clarity about his status at some point Tuesday. The 31-year-old is off to a strong start at the plate, with a .300/.432/.567 batting line with four home runs and 10 RBI over 18 games.
Apr 28 - 8:12 AM

George Springer went 0-for-2 with three walks, three stolen bases, and two runs scored on Monday as the Astros beat the Padres.

In the eighth inning, Springer walked, moved to second on another walk, stole third, and came around to score on a throwing error by catcher Derek Norris. In the ninth, Springer walked again, stole second, and scored on a Colby Rasmus home run. Springer hasn't done much with the bat, hitting just .183/.302/.324, but he's 7-for-8 in the stolen base department at least.
