Hanley Ramirez left Thursday's game against the Giants for precautionary reasons due to mild left hamstring tightness.

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a strikeout before being replaced by Nick Punto at shortstop to begin the seventh inning. This is the same hamstring that sent him to the disabled list earlier this year, so the Dodgers obviously don't want to take any chances with the postseason rapidly approaching. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Yasmani Grandal hit a walk-off RBI single in the 12th inning to help the Padres overcome the Dodgers on Friday.

Grandal was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the game prior to his single. The 25-year-old has otherwise had a tough season, slashing .210/.309/.372 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in 337 plate appearances.

Buster Posey went 5-for-5 with a triple, three RBI, and three runs scored as the Giants routed the Brewers on Friday.

It's the second five-hit game of Posey's career, and it continues the catcher's fantastic month of August. Since the beginning of the month, Posey is batting .350 (36-for-103). He singled in a run in the second inning and tripled in two more in the fifth. Posey owns a .297/.352/.472 slash line with 18 home runs and 71 RBI.
Aug 30 - 1:36 AM

Anthony Rendon reached base in all five plate appearances in Friday's win against the Mariners.

Rendon finished a triple short of the cycle. He drove in his only run with a first inning solo home run to left-center off of Felix Hernandez. He has been just what the Nationals needed at third base after losing Ryan Zimmerman to an injury. Rendon has 18 home runs, 71 RBI, 13 stolen bases, and a .282/.341/.471 slash line.
Aug 30 - 1:16 AM

Chris Iannetta drew a bases-loaded walk and hit a two-run home run in four at-bats as the Angels shut out the Athletics on Friday.

Iannetta came into the game mired in a slump, hitting .056 (1-for-18) dating back to August 20. He broke a scoreless tie with his two-run shot off of Jon Lester in the fifth inning, then walked with the bases loaded to force in a run in the sixth. The catcher has quietly put together a productive season, slashing .257/.372/.412 with six home runs and 37 RBI in 309 plate appearances.
Aug 30 - 1:05 AM

Jake Lamb's eighth-inning grand slam gave the D'Backs the lead and, shortly thereafter, the win against the Rockies on Friday.

The D'Backs had the bases loaded with nobody out and appeared well on their way to squandering their golden opportunity after two unproductive outs. Lamb then slugged a 420-foot grand slam to center field off of Adam Ottavino to put his team up 5-2. Lamb finished 1-for-4 on the evening. The 23-year-old rookie hasn't had a whole lot of success at the plate to begin his career, slashing .218/.279/.345 with a pair of homers and nine RBI.
Aug 30 - 12:35 AM

Jacoby Ellsbury went 2-for-5 with a triple and a two-run homer in Friday's 6-3 win over the Blue Jays.

The red-hot Ellsbury now has four homers and nine RBI over his last five games. Unfortunately, he hurt his left ankle on a slide into home plate in the ninth inning. Tests came back negative, but he was limping after the game and might not be able to play Saturday.
Aug 29 - 11:57 PM

Jose Bautista smacked a solo homer against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Bautista has now gone deep in three straight games. He's now up to 27 home runs on the year, which ties him with teammate Edwin Encarnacion for sixth in the majors.
Aug 29 - 11:54 PM

Justin Verlander was terrific in Friday’s victory over the White Sox, allowing just one run on nine hits over seven strong innings of work.

Verlander racked up eight strikeouts on the evening while issuing just two free passes. The only blemish on his evening was a sacrifice fly off the bat of Adam Dunn in the first inning. It has been a hugely disappointing season for the fomer Cy Young award winner, who owns a 4.68 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 132/60 K/BB ratio through 171 1/3 innings. He’ll look to carry over this dominant effort when he does battle against the Indians in Cleveland on Wednesday.
Aug 29 - 11:47 PM

Chris Davis smashed a grand slam in Friday's win over the Twins.

It was the big blow in a five-run fifth inning against Trevor May. Davis has three hits in his last seven games and they all happened to be home runs. He's now up to 24 homers on the year, but he's done it with a lousy .189/.292/.400 batting line.
Aug 29 - 11:25 PM

Jorge Soler blasted a pair of home runs and drove home three, powering the Cubs to a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals on Friday.

He finished the night 3-for-3 plus a walk. Soler tied the game with a solo shot off opposing starter Shelby Miller in the seventh inning, then tagged Pat Neshek for a two-run blast the following inning. He has started his big league career off with a bang, going 7-for-11 (.636) with three homers and six RBI in his first three games. He needs to be owned and started in all mixed leagues.
Aug 29 - 11:25 PM

Mookie Betts blasted the first grand slam of his major league career, leading the Red Sox to an 8-4 victory over the Rays in Tampa Bay on Friday.

His critical blast came off opposing starter Chris Archer with two outs in the second inning, increasing the Red Sox lead to 8-0 at the time and putting the game virtually out of reach. Betts also singled in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-5. He's now hitting .253/.337/.418 with three homers and seven RBI in his limited time with the Red Sox.
