Daisuke Matsuzaka threw seven innings of one-run ball in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Marlins, a 3-1 Mets win.

He yielded just a single and a Justin Ruggiano solo home run. That's now two solid starts in a row for Dice-K, but veteran fantasy owners have seen this script before. We're betting he struggles next week vs. Washington.

Miguel Cabrera (back) admitted he isn't sure if he'll be ready for Opening Day.

"I don't know," said Cabrera on Thursday. "I will play when I am ready to play." Cabrera said he tweaked the right side of his back in his first game at the World Baseball Classic but now his left side hurts from overcompensating. He mostly played through the injury at the WBC but didn't look like himself, batting .190 over 21 at-bats. Cabrera still has a week and a half to get ready, but his health is something fantasy owners need to be aware of heading into drafts.

Jose Quintana shut out the Reds for seven innings as he led the White Sox to a 4-2 victory on Thursday.

He looked to be in mid-season form as he mowed down the Reds' batters. Quintana allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out three. This was only his second official start on the Cactus League circuit as he spent time pitching well for Team Colombia in the World Baseball Classic. He has a 1.00 ERA in nine spring innings. Trade rumors continue to swirl around Quintana and there seems to be a chance he could go north for the regular season in another uniform, but he'll be a valuable starter wherever he winds up.

Luis Valbuena will miss 4-6 weeks with a strained right hamstring.

It's a Grade 1 strain, which is considered the least serious. It's still going to keep Valbuena out for at least the first month, which should allow C.J. Cron to settle in as the everyday first baseman. Valbuena's injury also increases Jefry Marte's chances of making the Opening Day roster. When healthy, Valbuena will platoon with Cron at first base.
Mar 23 - 5:15 PM

Robinson Cano was scratched from Thursday's Cactus League game against the Giants with a head cold.

Mike Freeman will draw the start at second with Cano under the weather. Cano has gone 2-for-6 in two games since coming back from the World Baseball Classic. He shouldn't miss more than a day or two.

Mariners optioned 1B Daniel Vogelbach to Triple-A Tacoma.

This comes as a stunner. Vogelbach was expected to platoon with Danny Valencia at first base but will instead begin in the minors after hitting just .228 with 19 strikeouts over 57 Cactus League at-bats. The 24-year-old went 1-for-12 with six strikeouts in his first taste of the big leagues last September. Obviously he needs a little more seasoning.
Mar 23 - 4:26 PM

A.J. Pollock (groin) is now aiming to return to Cactus League action on Friday.

Pollock had been scheduled to return Thursday, but the Diamondbacks' spring training facility got hit with some morning rain and manager Torey Lovullo said he didn't want to chance anything on wet grass. Pollock hasn't appeared in a Cactus League game since March 12 because of tightness in his left groin, but the expectation is that he will be ready for Opening Day.
Mar 23 - 3:28 PM

Yasiel Puig (calf) is back in the Dodgers' Cactus League lineup on Thursday.

Puig has been held out of action this week after feeling a tweak in his left calf Sunday while trying to steal a base. It sounds like this is minor, but we all know about Puig's long history of leg issues. He remains a high-risk, high-reward type of fantasy outfielder leading into the 2017 regular season.
Mar 23 - 2:25 PM

Rockies optioned RHP Jeff Hoffman to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hoffman had a shot at claiming the final spot in the Rockies' rotation this spring, but he simply didn't pitch well enough. The 24-year-old right-hander should be brought up for good at some point this summer and could take on deep-league fantasy value. He was recently ranked a top-40 prospect by Baseball America. Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela remain in the running for starting jobs in Colorado.

Luis Valbuena has been sent for an MRI on his sore left hamstring.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he's confident the injury is minor, but the club wants to make sure with Opening Day fast approaching. Valbuena left Wednesday's split-squad Cactus League game against the Rangers after experiencing some hamstring soreness. There should be an update on his status Friday.
Mar 23 - 1:28 PM

Kendall Graveman has been named the Opening Day starter for the Athletics.

A's manager Bob Melvin made that announcement Thursday in camp, adding that Sean Manaea and Jharel Cotton will follow Graveman in the club's season-opening series against the Angels. The fourth and fifth spots are to be determined. Graveman, 26, posted a relatively underwhelming 4.11 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 108/47 K/BB ratio in 186 innings (31 starts) last season for Oakland. He'll make for a decent streaming option at times in standard fantasy leagues.
Mar 23 - 1:15 PM

Raisel Iglesias revealed Thursday that he injured his right elbow and hips when he fell in the shower three weeks ago.

That explains why Iglesias hasn't appeared in a Cactus League game since March 14, and why he underwent an MRI on the elbow of his throwing arm earlier this week. The results of that MRI came back negative, but Iglesias is questionable-to-doubtful for the beginning of the 2017 regular season. Michael Lorenzen, Tony Cingrani, and Drew Storen could all be in line for save opportunities out of the gate in Cincinnati. Reds manager Bryan Price spoke this winter about wanting to use a matchups-based approach at closer in 2017, and this Iglesias injury -- even if it's minor -- gives Price all the more reason to follow through with that plan.
