Desmond Jennings hit a walkoff RBI single in the Rays' 4-3 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

It was a wild extra-innings affair at Tropicana Field between two teams squarely in the hunt for the American League Wild Card spots. Jennings was hit by a pitch in the third inning, doubled in the fifth, singled in the 10th and then won the game in the bottom of the 12th when he plated Sam Fuld from second base with a slap to right. The 26-year-old outfielder has 13 homers, 20 steals and 49 RBI in 132 games this season.

Rangers recalled INF Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock.

Profar is starting at second base and batting leadoff for the Rangers on Friday and could remain in both places for the next week while Rougned Odor serves his suspension. After missing two seasons with ongoing shoulder issues, Profar has batted .284/.356/.426 with five homers and four steals across 189 plate appearances with Round Rock this season. His stay with the big club could be short, but he's worth owning in fantasy leagues while he's up.
May 27 - 3:58 PM

David Ortiz is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

It looks to be a routine day of rest. The Red Sox have Hanley Ramirez in the designated hitter spot, Travis Shaw at first base and Marco Hernandez at third base Friday.
May 27 - 3:39 PM

Major League Baseball has upheld Jose Bautista's one-game suspension.

Bautista tried to get the suspension thrown out via the appeals process but was denied. He'll serve the suspension on Friday against the Red Sox. Ezequiel Carrera is getting a start in right field in Bautista's place.
May 27 - 3:23 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera (back) is back in the Mets' lineup Friday.

Cabrera had to leave Wednesday's game due to back spasms, but he rested up during the off day Thursday and is now ready to go. He's at shortstop and batting second against Julio Urias and the Dodgers.
May 27 - 3:19 PM

Christian Yelich (back) remained out of the Marlins' lineup Friday.

He's now missed six games with back spasms. Yelich has some history with back issues, although it doesn't appear at this point the disabled list is being considered. Cole Gillespie will start in left field again.
May 27 - 2:59 PM

Giancarlo Stanton (side) remained out of the Marlins' lineup Friday.

Stanton hasn't played since Tuesday due to soreness in his right side. The Marlins haven't indicated to this point that a trip to the disabled list is a possibility, but obviously the likelihood increases the longer this drags on. Ichiro Suzuki is again filling in in right field and leading off.
May 27 - 2:58 PM

Matt Adams (back) is not in the Cardinals' lineup Friday.

Adams departed Thursday's game with mid-back stiffness. It's viewed as a day-to-day thing for the time being. Brandon Moss is handling first base Friday.
May 27 - 2:40 PM

Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Akron on Saturday.

Carrasco has been throwing off a mound for two weeks and hasn't had any issues with his strained hamstring. The right-hander figures to need a couple rehab outings before rejoining the Indians' rotation early next month.
May 27 - 1:39 PM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Diamondbacks are expected to place Shelby Miller (finger) on the disabled list Friday.

Manager Chip Hale revealed Thursday that Miller is still dealing with discomfort in a finger on his right hand as a result of an injury last month. It's fair to question whether Miller is truly hurt or whether the D'Backs just want to give the struggling righty some time off, but either way he's not going to start for them for a while. Archie Bradley will replace Miller in the rotation.
May 27 - 1:13 PM

Anthony Rizzo is absent from the Cubs' lineup Friday.

Rizzo has just three hits in his last 38 at-bats, so it's probably a good time to get him a breather with a lefty (Adam Morgan) on the mound. Jason Heyward is also receiving a day off, as the Cubs have Kris Bryant at first base, Javier Baez at third base and Matt Szczur in right field.
May 27 - 10:31 AM

Maikel Franco (ankle) is back in the Phillies' lineup Friday.

Franco had to be pulled from Wednesday game after spraining his right ankle, but he's ready to roll after Thursday's off day. Franco is batting third and playing third base against Jon Lester and the Cubs.
