Rays recalled RHP Jake Odorizzi from Triple-A Durham.

Odorizzi was recalled on Friday and was put to use immediately in the Rays 18-inning affair against the Orioles. He worked 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and a walk while striking out two. The 23-year-old right-hander now owns a 4.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 19/7 K/BB ratio through 26 2/3 innings on the season.

Khris Davis underwent scheduled surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said the surgery "went well" and guessed that Davis would only miss 4-6 weeks. Gerardo Parra will serve as the primary left fielder for Milwaukee until early-to-mid July.

Denard Span (knee) is not in the lineup for the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

Span also sat out the first game. He made an early exit from Sunday's series finale against the Reds after experiencing renewed discomfort in his right knee and apparently hasn't felt much improvement. But an MRI showed no structural damage, so Span should be able to avoid another disabled list stint. Michael Taylor is playing center field on Tuesday night.

Jose Abreu (finger) is not in the White Sox starting lineup Tuesday night against the Rangers.

Abreu hasn't played since leaving Friday's game against the Astros with irritation in his right index finger. It's something that has bothered Abreu off and on over the first two months of the 2015 regular season. He'll aim to return to action on Wednesday.
Jun 2 - 4:44 PM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday that J.J. Hardy is getting an MRI on his left oblique.

It sounds like Hardy may have a strained oblique, which would put him back on the disabled list. The 32-year-old has played in only 23 games this season for Baltimore. Ryan Flaherty is at shortstop on Tuesday night.
Jun 2 - 4:29 PM

Joey Gallo is batting sixth in his major league debut Tuesday night against the White Sox.

That seems like a pretty appropriate spot in the Rangers' lineup for the 21-year-old slugger. Gallo was called up from Double-A Frisco on Tuesday morning to handle third base while Adrian Beltre (thumb) is on the shelf and he's worth a shot in most mixed fantasy leagues for his incredible raw power.
Jun 2 - 4:12 PM

Kris Bryant will make his first career start in left field Tuesday.

Bryant made one start in center field earlier this season and has played three innings in left field, but this will be his first career start there. It's likely just a temporary thing, as Jorge Soler is out of Tuesday's lineup with a sore ankle. Junior Lake is filling in for Soler in right field. Meanwhile, Jonathan Herrera will play third.
Jun 2 - 4:07 PM

Josh Hamilton is out of the Rangers' starting lineup Tuesday due to tightness in his left hamstring.

It sounds like the kind of routine soreness that comes with an extended absence from live baseball games. Hamilton has registered a 1.021 OPS in 22 at-bats since rejoining the Rangers. Consider him day-to-day.
Jun 2 - 4:04 PM

Jorge Soler is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins with a sore ankle.

No word yet on whether it's a day-to-day situation or something bigger. Junior Lake will start in right field Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kris Bryant will play left field and Jonathan Herrera will start at third.
Jun 2 - 4:03 PM

Blue Jays activated C/DH Dioner Navarro from the 15-day disabled list.

Navarro ended up missing around five weeks with a strained left hamstring. He'll serve as a backup to Russell Martin and figures to get a bunch of starts out of the DH spot now that Jose Bautista is healthy enough to play in the outfield again.
Jun 2 - 3:58 PM

Jordan Zimmermann spun eight scoreless innings in a 2-0 win over the Blue Jays in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Zimmermann ran into a bit of trouble in the seventh by loading the bases, but he was able to induce a key double play grounder to get out of the jam. Otherwise, he cruised, scattering six hits to go with one walk and four strikeouts. Zimmermann has allowed just six runs combined over his last six starts, lowering his ERA from 4.88 to 2.88 in the process. He lines up for a start against the Cubs this weekend.

Tigers placed OF Rajai Davis on the paternity leave list.

Davis left the team to be present for the birth of his second child. He's permitted to be away from the team for 24 to 72 hours.
