According to MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch, the Cardinals' closer situation is "fluid moving forward."

Edward Mujica has had a terrible month and acknowledged Friday night that he is feeling overall fatigue. Trevor Rosenthal is probably the guy to own in fantasy leagues, but Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will likely use a matchup-to-matchup approach. Hard-throwing left-hander Kevin Siegrist is a darkhorse for save opportunities down the stretch.

Paul Goldschmidt got on base four times in Saturday’s 8-7 win over the Padres, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a pair of walks.

It was only Goldschmidt’s ninth home run of the year, which somehow seems relatively small, but he has already driven in 30 runs. He also swiped his sixth bag of the year for good measure. The All-Star first baseman is now hitting .250/.413/.453 and remains one of the elite fantasy players in any mixed format.

Dallas Keuchel recovered from a shaky start to limit the Angels to two runs over seven innings in Saturday's 4-2 win.

Keuchel gave up back-to-back solo homers to Mike Trout and Albert Pujols in the first inning but settled down to put up six zeroes in his final six innings of work. The southpaw gave up just one other hit, didn't walk a batter and struck out five on the night. It ranked among his best starts of the season, improving him to 3-6 with a 5.58 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through 11 outings. We'll see if Keuchel can use the start as a springboard or if it was an aberration when he takes on the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
May 29 - 1:07 AM

Yu Darvish (elbow) struck out seven over five innings of one-run ball in the Rangers' 5-2 win over the Pirates on Saturday.

Making his season debut, the right-hander looked like he hadn't missed a beat, giving up just three hits and a walk while throwing 81 pitches in the start. The start was his first since August 9, 2014, after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. Initial results were promising, but few Tommy John patients come back without any bumps along the way, and there will surely be some for the 29-year-old as well. His comeback will continue Friday against the Mariners.

Continuing his turn as public enemy No. 1 in New York, Chase Utley homered twice and drove in five runs as the Dodgers trounced the Mets 9-1 on Saturday.

Utley hit a solo homer in the fourth inning before blasting a grand slam in the seventh. That wasn't even the most excitement that centered around the second baseman, as Mets starter Noah Syndergaard was ejected in the third inning for throwing near Utley. All the vitriol stems from Utley's take-out slide that broke Ruben Tejada's leg last October. All the sideshows have drawn attention away from the fact that Utley is now hitting a healthy .296/.386/.453 in 44 games.

Randal Grichuk went 2-for-5 with an RBI double, triple and a run scored as the Cardinals thumped the Nationals 9-4 on Saturday.

Grichuk had two of the team's seven extra-base hits against Gio Gonzalez and company, including an RBI double in the fifth inning. Grichuk now has four multi-hit games in his last five starts, raising his average to .237 with a .755 OPS. If any impatient fantasy owners jumped off the Grichuk train early, it might be time to get back on it.
May 28 - 10:45 PM

Tony Cingrani struck out three over a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 7-6 win over the Brewers on Saturday.

The save was Cingrani's fourth of the season and his first in nearly two weeks. It was a reassuring showing from the southpaw, who is the team's closer for lack of a better option. Cingrani owns a 3.32 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 23 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings to date.
May 28 - 9:55 PM

Trayce Thompson was removed from Saturday's game against the Mets due to lower back soreness.

Thompson left the game in the fifth inning and was replaced by Yasiel Puig in right field. It's unclear how this will affect the 25-year-old's playing time in the coming days. Thompson has enjoyed a breakout season, hitting .274/.336/.528 with seven home runs in 116 plate appearances.
May 28 - 9:20 PM

Buster Posey hit a pair of three-run home runs as the Giants outlasted the Rockies 10-5 on Saturday.

Posey took Rockies starter Eddie Butler deep in the first inning before adding a second, three-run blast in the eighth. The two-homer game was his first of 2016, giving him seven bombs and 24 RBI overall. Posey is batting .268/.328/.470 through 45 games.
May 28 - 8:34 PM

Carlos Santana went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in an 11-4 drubbing of the Orioles on Saturday.

Batting atop the Indians order, Santana played the part of leadoff hitter, collecting a couple hits and stealing his third base of the season. Without much fanfare, he's now reached base safely in 10 straight games. The 30-year-old is hitting .231/.345/.438 with eight homers, 24 RBI and 24 runs scored on the year.
May 28 - 8:23 PM

Evan Longoria went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI as the Rays beat the Yankees 9-5 on Saturday.

Longoria connected on a Michael Pineda pitch for a two-run shot in the second inning. The homer was his ninth of the season, giving him 24 RBI and 26 runs scored. The 30-year-old is slashing .254/.302/.466 overall.
May 28 - 7:48 PM

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in a Braves' 7-2 win over the Marlins on Saturday.

With a couple runners on in the seventh inning, Beckham took an Edwin Jackson offering out to left-center for his second home run of the year. He also doubled and scored in the contest. Beckham has quietly been very good for the Braves in 27 games this year, batting .317/.417/.488 with 14 RBI and 11 runs scored.
