Marco Scutaro (finger) has been shut down for the season.

He just hasn't made enough progress in his recovery from a left ring finger injury, and he's nursed a tight back, as well. Scutaro will have a splint put on the finger and should arrive at spring training next season with no limitations.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said that he has a "high level" of concern about Matt Adams's right quad injury and a disabled list move is expected.

Adams strained his quad while rounding first base on a double in the fifth inning of Tuesday's game. It sounds like he could require a lengthy stay on the disabled list, although more won't be known until he presumably undergoes an MRI. Mark Reynolds is in line to play regularly at first base while Adams is out, and the team could bring up Xavier Scruggs from Triple-A.

Jose Abreu went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run and an RBI ground out in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

The White Sox entered Tuesday's game averaging only 3.5 runs per game, the worst in the American League. But it's not Abreu's fault as he has eight home runs, 27 RBI, and a .274/.339/.476 triple-slash line.

Josh Donaldson homered twice on Tuesday, one of which was a walk-off three-run blast in the ninth inning, leading the Blue Jays past the White Sox on Tuesday.

Donaldson, batting second, put the Jays on top early with a solo home run in the first inning. It was a see-saw game, but Donaldson put an end to it when he belted a three-run home run to the opposite field against closer David Robertson. Donaldson finished the night 4-for-4 with a walk and five RBI. On the season, he is hitting .315/.379/.582 with 12 home runs and 33 RBI.

He lifted an Elvis Araujo offering into left field to bring in the winning run. Flores has hit for decent power but otherwise has been lackluster, batting .252/.284/.429 with seven home runs and 21 RBI.

Marlon Byrd scored the game-winning run and had both of the Reds' runs in their 2-1, walk-off victory over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Byrd singled and scored in the second inning before leading off the bottom of the ninth with a walk. He was sacrificed into scoring position and Skip Schumaker's RBI double plated Byrd as the winning run. Byrd's rate stats leave something to be desired, but he's still got 10 homers, 25 RBI and 20 runs scored on the year.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that trade a between the Dodgers and Braves involving Juan Uribe and Alberto Callaspo is "done," pending approval by the commissioner’s office.

It was reported earlier Tuesday that Callaspo rejected the trade, but now Rosenthal is saying he waived his right to reject any deal prior to June 15. Rosenthal says it would be a six-player trade, and he thinks Trevor Cahill and/or Eric Stults could be one of the players going to the Dodgers.

Justin Verlander (triceps) is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Sunday.

Verlander looked "very good" in a 70-pitch simulated game on Tuesday, according to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. If he feels good Wednesday, he'll be officially cleared for a rehab assignment. Verlander unsuccessfully lobbied for more work Tuesday so that he could avoid a minor league start and go right back into the rotation, so it sounds like Sunday's rehab start would likely be his only one. That would likely put him in line to rejoin the Tigers' rotation on June 5 in Chicago. The veteran right-hander has been sidelined all season with a strained right triceps.
