Leonys Martin hit a walk-off two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the A's.

Martin had just one hit on the evening, but boy howdy, it was a big one. Down 5-4 with one on and two outs in the ninth inning, the 28-year-old outfielder stood as the Mariners' last line of defense against a probable loss. He would make sure that no defeat came their way, cracking a two-run walk-off dinger to deep right off A's closer Ryan Madson to end the game. Of lesser import, the homer pushed Martin to an eight-game hitting streak. He is slashing .259/.337/.483 with nine homers, 19 RBI and seven steals over 143 at-bats. The nine homers already stand as a career best for Martin.

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-3 with a three-run triple and four total RBI in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Padres.

Crawford notched his first RBI with a single in the sixth inning. He would come through again in much louder fashion in the bottom of the eighth. Stepping to the plate with the bases juiced, the 29-year-old shortstop brought 'em all home with a three-run triple off reliever Keith Hessler to blow open what had been a 3-1 game. For the season, Crawford is slashing .256/.330/.438 with nine doubles, six homers and 26 RBI across 160 at-bats.

Carlos Correa hit an RBI single in the 13th inning to give the Astros a walk-off, 3-2 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Correa was 0-for-5 with two strikeouts before delivering the game-winning hit in the 13th. He's been streaky in his first full season in the majors, striking out in a surprising 25.1 percent of his plate appearances while also hitting seven homers with eight steals on the year. It all adds up to a .250/.343/.409 line that should be more attractive by season's end.
May 25 - 1:10 AM

Lorenzo Cain finished 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in the Royals' 7-4 win over the Twins on Tuesday.

The stolen base was his sixth, and Cain also has six homers on the season. The 30-year-old has three doubles, a home run and six RBI during a modest six-game hitting streak, and he's now put together four consecutive multi-hit games. The good stretch has his overall line up to .296/.348/.432.
May 25 - 12:33 AM

Yasiel Puig was removed from Tuesday's game against the Reds with an apparent injury.

Puig appeared to jam his hand sliding around Howie Kendrick's bat while scoring on a Kendrick shot to first base in the bottom of the sixth inning that Joey Votto couldn't handle. Puig got on base that inning with an RBI single off the right field wall (he stared it down a good while before running). Puig finished the night 1-for-3 with one run scored and one run batted in.
May 25 - 12:25 AM

Nomar Mazara finished 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored as the Rangers topped the Angels 4-1 on Tuesday.

Mazara hit a two-run home run off Angels starter Jhoulys Chacin in the sixth inning, and he also singled and scored in the fourth. The homer was the third in six games for the outfielder, giving him seven on the season. The 21-year-old is hitting .317/.364/.483 in 38 games after starting the year at Triple-A.
May 25 - 12:04 AM

Gregory Polanco had a big night Tuesday, homering and driving in five runs in a blowout win over the Diamondbacks.

Polanco was all too happy to keep adding to Shelby Miller's misery, smacking a three-run shot off the right-hander in the first inning. The dynamic outfielder then added a two-RBI double in the sixth and a single in the seventh to cap off his night. Polanco has been arguably the Pirates' best player so far this season and one of the better players in the National League, sporting a .307/.395/.546 batting line with six homers and 28 RBI.
May 24 - 11:34 PM

Josh Tomlin held the White Sox to two runs over eight innings in a 6-2 win Tuesday, earning his seventh straight victory.

Tomlin allowed five hits and a walk while striking out six on the evening. He's now tied for second in the American League in wins, and his 0.98 WHIP is second to only Chris Sale -- the pitcher he defeated on Tuesday -- among qualified AL pitchers. Through eight starts, the 31-year-old is a perfect 7-0 with a 3.35 ERA. Tomlin will try to stay undefeated Monday against the Rangers.
May 24 - 11:30 PM

David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.

Ortiz plated a pair of runs with a single in the first inning and added two more RBI with a double in the fourth. Big Papi now has 41 RBI on the season, which leads all of baseball, and he's put up a blistering .333/.413/.686 batting line. Have we mentioned that Ortiz is 40 years old?
May 24 - 11:20 PM

Jason Hammel held the Cardinals to one run across 7 1/3 superb innings in Tuesday's 12-3 blowout victory.

A case could be made that he shouldn't have given up any runs, as the Cards' lone tally off of Hammel came in the eighth inning after Jorge Soler missed a catchable ball that turned into a double. It was the first time since June of last season that Hammel surpassed seven innings. He'll bring a nifty 2.17 ERA into next week's outing against the Dodgers.
May 24 - 11:13 PM

Jorge Soler belted a two-run homer and recorded three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

Soler drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning and smacked a two-run shot to dead center field in the fifth to knock starter Michael Wacha out of the game. He also added another walk and an infield single. Soler looks like he could be turning the corner slowly but surely, picking up seven hits -- including a pair of homers -- over his last 21 at-bats.
