Royals re-signed C Adam Moore.

Moore was designated for assignment last month by the Royals but is now back with the club. He played in just five games for the big club this season and hit only .191/.284/.405 in 41 contests at Triple-A.

Kris Bryant knocked in three runs and walked to help lead the Cubs to a win over the Pirates on Monday.

Bryant finished 3-for-4 on the evening. He tied the game at one apiece with a fifth-inning RBI single. In the seventh, he brought in a pair of runs with a double and came around to score on two Pirate errors. Bryant has yet to sate fans' appetite for power with a home run, but has looked comfortable at the plate following his 0-for-4 performance in his major league debut.

Anthony DeSclafani held the Brewers scoreless over eight innings on Monday as the Reds won 6-1.

Though it was against the lowly Brewers, DeSclafani gave up only two hits and a walk while striking out five. DeSclafani was a popular sleeper pick coming into the season and he's already paying dividends. The right-hander owns a 0.86 ERA, a 0.62 WHIP, and a 16/4 K/BB ratio over 21 innings. DeSclafani will attempt to remain undefeated in his next start at home versus the Cubs.
Apr 20 - 9:59 PM

Jonathan Lucroy will be placed on the disabled list after suffering a fractured toe on his left foot during Monday's game versus the Reds.

The injury occurred when Lucroy was struck by a foul tip. It's absolutely brutal news for the Brewers, who are 2-11, have Carlos Gomez (hamstring) and now Lucroy on the DL and might have Scooter Gennett (hand) join them. It's not clear at this point how long Lucroy might be sidelined. Martin Maldonado is now set to see the bulk of the action behind the plate for the Brewers, and Juan Centeno will be promoted to take Lucroy's roster spot.
Apr 20 - 9:56 PM

Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run as the Reds topped the Brewers on Monday.

Votto's two-run home run in the seventh inning off of Wily Peralta padded the Reds' lead to 6-0 at the time. That marks five round-trippers on the season for the first baseman, who missed more than half of the 2014 season with a quad strain. Votto also owns a .375/.492/.771 triple-slash line with 12 RBI, making him by far the Reds' most productive hitter to start the season.
Apr 20 - 9:50 PM

Alfredo Simon limited the Yankees to one run over seven innings as the Tigers went on to a 2-1 victory on Monday.

Simon made one mistake on Monday evening, resulting in a Mark Teixeira solo home run in the second inning. The right-hander was in line for the loss until the Tigers rallied for two runs in the seventh. Simon gave up seven hits in total, issued no walks, and struck out seven. He's had back-to-back sterling outings, having shut out the Pirates over eight innings previously, and will take a 3-0 record with a 1.74 ERA into his next start against the Indians at home.
Apr 20 - 9:41 PM

Nolan Arenado was scratched from Monday's lineup with a sore left wrist.

It's not clear at this point how Arenado injured the wrist or how serious the setback might be. The Rockies should provide an update on the third baseman shortly. Rafael Ynoa took Arenado's spot at the hot corner.

Jarrod Parker (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Thursday.

Parker will go four innings and/or 60 pitches in his first outing. He'll use his full 30-day rehab allotment, putting him on track to rejoin the Athletics' rotation in late May. Parker has been on a relatively aggressive timetable considering he's coming back from a second Tommy John surgery, but he's experienced no bumps in the road to this point. Those in deeper leagues might want to stash him now if you have the roster space.
Apr 20 - 8:19 PM

Jesse Hahn (blister) has been scratched from his next scheduled start on Thursday in Anaheim.

He'll miss just the one outing, as the A's want to give him some extra rest in order to allow his blister to fully heal. Hahn will rejoin the rotation next week. Jesse Chavez will make a spot start on Thursday in Hahn's place.
Apr 20 - 8:14 PM

Ben Zobrist (knee) will be sidelined for at least a couple more days after being given a cortisone shot on Monday.

Zobrist has dealt with some cartilage issues in his left knee for a while, and they flared up on him Sunday, forcing him from the game. The good news is that he had an MRI and it didn't reveal any ligament issues. The bad news is that it's possible he could require surgery if the cortisone shot doesn't help. It would just be of the cleanup variety, but an operation would obviously sideline Zobrist for at least a few weeks.
Apr 20 - 7:04 PM

Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said Monday that Nick Swisher (knees) will begin a rehab assignment in the next couple days.

Also noteworthy is that Swisher will return to the Tribe as a right fielder, as he believes that will put less stress on his surgically-repaired knees. Swisher has been playing games in extended spring training for a couple weeks, so he shouldn't need too many rehab contests before being activated. A return before the end of the month seems possible.
Apr 20 - 6:46 PM

Cubs shortstop prospect Addison Russell has started at second base in his last five games for Triple-A Iowa.

It's big news, obviously, since that's the position Russell probably has the best chance to crack at the major league level at the moment. "Being a little bit more proactive regarding prepping him for a need that might be open here," manager Joe Maddon said Monday. Russell is hitting .297/.308/.432 with one homer in the early going for Iowa and could potentially challenge for a promotion before long.
