Brewers general manager Doug Melvin acknowledged Tuesday that the club has discussed moving Ryan Braun to right field in order to make room for Khris Davis in left field.

Davis has limited range, but the Brewers want to find a way to get him into the lineup after he batted .279/.353/.596 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI over 153 plate appearances as a rookie this year. Moving Braun to right field would make Norichika Aoki the odd man out, but there would be plenty of interest in him on the trade market given his team-friendly 2014 option. It's worth noting that the Brewers haven't discussed the idea with Braun yet, so it's no sure thing.

Luis Valbuena hit a pair of solo home runs and lifted a sacrifice fly to help the Astros beat the Mariners on Monday.

Valbuena hit his first homer in the first inning off of Hisashi Iwakuma and his second in the eighth inning against Danny Farquhar. Valbuena, pushed out of the picture with the Cubs by the impending arrival of Kris Bryant, has been a nice find for the Astros. He has five home runs, seven RBI, and a .244/.304/.634 slash line in 46 plate appearances.

Stephen Vogt walked and slugged a three-run home run in four at-bats as the Athletics won against the Angels on Monday.

Vogt put the A's back on top 4-2 with his three-run home run off of Matt Shoemaker in the third inning. The catcher has been terrific to start the year, hitting .366/.435/.780 with four home runs and 12 RBI to begin the season.

Corey Dickerson had to leave Monday's game versus the Padres due to what Rockies manager Walt Weiss referred to as "mild" plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

That Weiss is calling the ailment mild suggests that they'll try to avoid putting Dickerson on the disabled list for the time being. It's definitely and injury that can be nagging, though, so fantasy owners should have a contingency plan in place. Dickerson is batting .286/.314/.510 with two homers and 10 RBI this season. Drew Stubbs would stand to gain the extra playing time while Dickerson is out.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Cubs plan to call up infield prospect Addison Russell.

Russell has played just five games at second base, but the Cubs have apparently seen enough that they think he's ready to help at the position in the majors. It certainly wouldn't be hard for him to represent an upgrade, as journeyman Jonathan Herrera has been seeing most of the playing time there of late. Russell is just 21, but he's a career .301/.377/.520 hitter so far in the minors and the consensus among scouts is that his bat his major league-ready. He needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues.
Apr 21 - 12:05 AM

Matt Kemp had a big night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a two-run double and a pair of RBI singles in Monday's win against the Rockies.

Kemp started the onslaught of runs with a two-run double, sparking a five-run first inning. He added RBI singles in the second and fifth innings as well as the Padres went on to score 14 runs. Kemp is making quite an impression with his new team, batting .368/.393/.561 with 13 RBI in 61 plate appearances to begin the season.

Jorge De La Rosa's season debut didn't go well, as the lefty was hammered for nine runs (seven earned) in two innings in a loss to the Padres on Monday.

De La Rosa missed the first two weeks of the season with a groin injury. The Padres had no issues squaring him up, as the lefty yielded nine hits and a walk while striking out three. The nine runs were split up with five in the first inning and four in the second. De La Rosa will try to bounce back in his next start at home against the Giants.
Apr 20 - 11:57 PM

Melky Cabrera delivered a walk-off RBI single to cap a four-run ninth inning in Monday's win against the Indians.

The White Sox had been shut out through eight innings, but rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning against Indians closer Cody Allen. After Gordon Beckham had tied the game with an RBI single, Cabrera singled to left-center to send the White Sox home happy. He finished 1-for-4 with a walk on the evening. Cabrera has been slow out of the gate, batting .260/.275/.280 with only one extra-base hit.
Apr 20 - 11:25 PM

Edinson Volquez was superb again on Monday, holding the Twins to one run over seven innings en route to a win.

The Twins' only run scored in the second inning on a throwing error by Eric Hosmer. Volquez allowed five hits and a walk while striking out five, giving him three excellent starts to begin the regular season following a miserable spring. He's 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and a 17/3 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings. Volquez will look to keep it going over the weekend on the road against the White Sox.
Apr 20 - 11:11 PM

Kris Bryant knocked in three runs and walked to help lead the Cubs to a win over the Pirates on Monday.

Bryant finished 3-for-4 on the evening. He tied the game at one apiece with a fifth-inning RBI single. In the seventh, he brought in a pair of runs with a double and came around to score on two Pirate errors. Bryant has yet to sate fans' appetite for power with a home run, but has looked comfortable at the plate following his 0-for-4 performance in his major league debut.
Apr 20 - 10:52 PM

Anthony DeSclafani held the Brewers scoreless over eight innings on Monday as the Reds won 6-1.

Though it was against the lowly Brewers, DeSclafani gave up only two hits and a walk while striking out five. DeSclafani was a popular sleeper pick coming into the season and he's already paying dividends. The right-hander owns a 0.86 ERA, a 0.62 WHIP, and a 16/4 K/BB ratio over 21 innings. DeSclafani will attempt to remain undefeated in his next start at home versus the Cubs.
Apr 20 - 9:59 PM

Jonathan Lucroy will be placed on the disabled list after suffering a fractured toe on his left foot during Monday's game versus the Reds.

The injury occurred when Lucroy was struck by a foul tip. It's absolutely brutal news for the Brewers, who are 2-11, have Carlos Gomez (hamstring) and now Lucroy on the DL and might have Scooter Gennett (hand) join them. It's not clear at this point how long Lucroy might be sidelined. Martin Maldonado is now set to see the bulk of the action behind the plate for the Brewers, and Juan Centeno will be promoted to take Lucroy's roster spot.
