Michael Bourn (calf) is in the starting lineup in Wednesday's Wild Card game against the Rays.

Bourn left Sunday's regular season finale with a tight left calf, but it's not serious enough to keep him sidelined in Wednesday's do-or-die contest. He'll bat leadoff in the Wild Card game and will be followed by Nick Swisher, Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, Michael Brantley, Ryan Raburn, Asdrubal Cabrera, Yan Gomes, and Lonnie Chisenhall. The inclusion of Chisenhall over Mike Aviles is a minor surprise. Danny Salazar will be on the mound for the Indians while Alex Cobb will pitch for the Rays.

Brandon McCarthy left his start Saturday against the Padres with right elbow tightness.

Miraculously, McCarthy still managed to pick up the win despite giving up six runs, including three homers, in five innings of work. McCarthy was scheduled to pitch Friday against the Diamondbacks, but that seems unlikely now. An MRI is likely coming. Mike Bolsinger may be called upon to make a spot start.

Rubby De La Rosa struck out eight and allowed just one run over seven innings in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

De La Rosa and A.J. Burnett were locked in an old school pitcher's duel, with both pitchers hurling seven innings of one-run ball and neither factoring into the decision. De La Rosa's struck out eight and did not walk a batter in the game. He allowed just four hits, with only an RBI double by Pedro Alvarez doing any damage. De La Rosa will take his 4.68 ERA and 25/5 K/BB ratio on the road against the Dodgers in his next start.

Adam Wainwright acknowledged after Saturday's game that the injury is to the back of his left ankle.

In other words, it's his Achilles tendon. And if he ruptured it, the ace right-hander could be done for the rest of the 2015 season. "I thought I got hit by something," said Wainwright, who pulled up lame after a fifth-inning pop-out on Saturday night in Milwaukee. "If you look at the replay, I get out of the box and I looked back to think the catcher’s mask must of hit me or the bat must’ve hit me, something must’ve hit me."

David Lough's home run off of Koji Uehara in the bottom of the tenth inning gave the Orioles a 5-4 win.

The Orioles were actually down 4-3 entering the bottom of the tenth inning. The normally reliable Koji Uehara was unable to hold the lead, though, and after a Chris Davis sacrifice fly tied the contest at 4-4, Lough stepped to the plate and delivered his dramatic shot to win it. It was Lough's first home run of the season. Not surprising, given that he hit just four last year. Lough works mostly as a backup outfielder and a late-game defensive substitution. Walk-off home runs are just a bonus.
Apr 25 - 10:40 PM

Wei-Yin Chen pitched a strong game against the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing just two runs over eight innings.

Chen surrendered just four hits while striking out five and walking one in the contest. Despite his sterling start, he didn't factor in the decision, though his team did ultimately pick up a 5-4 extra-innings win. Both runs Chen allowed came courtesy of a Mike Napoli two-run homer in the second inning. The 29-year-old's ERA now sits at 2.78 and he holds a 16/9 K/BB over 22 2/3 innings. He's been incredibly consistent since entering the majors in 2012, having never posted a single-season ERA higher than 4.07. Chen will try to keep on keepin' on against Rays in his next start.
Apr 25 - 10:19 PM

Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer Saturday in the Astros' 9-3 rout of the A's.

Altuve hit his three-run shot off A's starter Kendall Graveman in the top of the second inning. He also singled in the top of the first but was caught stealing second base. The diminutive 24-year-old is batting .315/.367/.425 with two home runs and five steals in 17 games this season for the Astros, who are off to a 10-7 start.
Apr 25 - 7:30 PM

Matt Harvey held the Yankees to two runs over 8 2/3 innings Saturday in the Mets' 8-2 victory.

Harvey nearly notched his second career complete game, but Mets manager Terry Collins gave him the hook after he walked Brian McCann with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Probably the right move. Harvey struck out seven and yielded just five hits, moving to 4-0 with a 3.04 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 31/3 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings. He gets the Nationals at home next.
Apr 25 - 7:11 PM

Jacoby Ellsbury left Saturday's game with hip tightness.

He went 0-for-3 before exiting in the eighth inning. The Yankees are hopeful Ellsbury won't miss any time, but if he does sit out Sunday, expect Chris Young to fill in at center field.
Apr 25 - 7:09 PM

Giancarlo Stanton went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 8-0 win over the Nationals.

Stanton singled in the first inning, doubled and scored in the fourth inning, walked and scored in the sixth inning, and then slugged a no-doubt homer to left-center off Nats reliever Rafael Martin in the eighth. He now boasts a .946 OPS with five home runs and 16 RBI through 18 games this season.
Apr 25 - 6:57 PM

Joel Peralta is dealing with "dead arm" and may require a stint on the disabled list.

Peralta doesn't have any pain but his shoulder feels weak. Dead arm happens to pitchers often in spring training but isn't as common during the regular season. Peralta has done well as the Dodgers' fill-in closer, converting all three of his save opportunities without allowing a run. If Peralta lands on the DL, Los Angeles would likely turn to Chris Hatcher in the ninth inning. Kenley Jansen (foot) is nearing a rehab assignment but might not be back with the team until mid-May.
Apr 25 - 6:14 PM

Saturday's game between the Cubs and the Reds has been postponed due to rain.

The teams sat through a four-hour rain delay before the game was called. No makeup date has been announced. Anthony DeSclafani and Jake Arrieta will have their starts pushed back to Sunday. The Cubs won 7-3 Friday in the series opener.
