Indians claimed RHP Tyler Cloyd off waivers from the Phillies.

Cloyd, 26, made 11 starts for the Phillies this season, going 2-7 with a 6.56 ERA over 60 1/3 innings. He'll most likely serve as depth for the Indians heading into the offseason.

Reds signed OF Ben Revere to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that Revere will earn between $1-$1.5 million if he makes the big league club out of spring training. You would think that having a player like Revere would be redundant for the Reds as they already have Billy Hamilton starting in their outfield, but perhaps this is just an insurance policy.

Kyle Seager went 2-for-2 in a 2-0 win over the Dodgers on Sunday in the Cactus League.

Seager, 30, was facing his brother Corey for the first time ever. Advantage Kyle in this one, as Corey went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. It's the second multi-hit game of the spring for Seager, who went 2-for-2 against the Padres on Friday. He's coming off a season where he battled consistency issues, but was still able to hit hit 27 homers and drive in 88. Assuming more consistent play in 2018, he should once again rank among the best hot corners in fantasy.

The press conference to announce J.D. Martinez's contract with the Red Sox "could be as early as Monday morning," according to Ian Browne of MLB.com.

Browne says the Red Sox and Martinez's agent Scott Boras "had a productive weekend adjusting contract language." It's not clear what exactly those adjustments will be. Martinez reportedly agreed to a five-year, $110 million free agent deal with Boston last week before some issues arose during his medical review, apparently involving a foot injury. Martinez did miss the early part of the 2017 season because of a Lisfranc sprain. There should be more clarification on all of this within the next 24 hours or so.

Nicholas Castellanos hit a solo homer off Pirates right-hander Tyler Glasnow on Sunday in Grapefruit League play.

Castellanos was a force down the stretch last season, after moving from third base to right field, and he has basically picked up where he left off -- making tons of hard contact so far in Tigers camp. The 25-year-old has big fantasy upside for 2018. He finished with 26 home runs and 101 RBI over 157 games in 2017.
Feb 25 - 4:55 PM

Phillies manager Gabe Kapler named Aaron Nola his Opening Day starter on Sunday.

Nola allowed three earned runs over two innings Sunday in his Grapefruit League debut against the Yankees, but that's obviously not a concern here in late February. The 24-year-old right-hander carries major fantasy upside into 2018 after registering a 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 184/49 K/BB ratio over 168 innings in 2017.

Miguel Sano (leg) is slated to make his spring debut at third base on Wednesday.

Sano is a little behind schedule this spring after having surgery last November to repair a stress reaction in his left leg, but he's on track for game action this week. The Twins' third baseman is still awaiting word on MLB's investigation into a sexual assault claim against him.

Clayton Kershaw threw one scoreless inning on Sunday in his first start of the spring in the Cactus League against the Mariners.

Kershaw only had to throw three pitches, as the Mariners were aggressive against the southpaw in his inning of work. It's a little surprising to see him only throw the one inning with that small of a pitch count, but the Dodgers aren't going to push their most important player. Assuming a clean bill of health, Kershaw will be one of the best pitchers in baseball again in 2018.
Feb 25 - 3:55 PM

Gerrit Cole tossed two scoreless innings Sunday in his unofficial Astros debut against the Cardinals.

Cole hit Tommy Pham with a pitch in the bottom of the first inning but retired the other six batters he faced, two via strikeout. The 27-year-old right-hander is lined up as the new No. 3 starter in Houston after being acquired from the Pirates in January for Joe Musgrove, Colin Moran, Michael Felix, and Jason Martin.
Feb 25 - 2:47 PM

MLB.com's Jon Morosi reports that Logan Morrison has agreed to terms with the Twins on a one-year, $6.5 million contract with a vesting option for 2019.

Morosi hears the contract could be worth as much as $16.5 million over two years, and ESPN's Jerry Crasnick says Morrison has a "reasonable chance" at maxing out the deal. Morrison no doubt had eyes on a bigger contract after he batted .246/.353/.516 with a career-high 38 home runs in 2017 with the Rays, but he never gained much traction in the slow offseason market. He should be the Twins' main designated hitter and can also fill in at first base.

Dominic Smith is dealing with a strained right quad and will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Between this and being benched for the first game after showing up late, Smith's spring isn't off to a great start. The youngster was already probably facing an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster after the Mets signed Adrian Gonzalez. We'll find out Monday how long the quad ailment might set him back.
Feb 25 - 9:49 AM

Joe Musgrove (shoulder) will throw a 20-25 pitch bullpen session Sunday.

He won't throw any breaking balls, but it's nonetheless a nice step after Musgrove was shut down for a week due to discomfort in his pitching shoulder. The right-hander spent time on the disabled list last season with a shoulder issue, so hopefully he bounces back well from Sunday's bullpen session.
