Brandon League is not on the Dodgers' NLDS roster.

League got a three-year, $22.5 million contract last offseason and was the Dodgers' closer on Opening Day, but he got lapped on the bullpen depth chart after posting a 5.30 ERA in 54 1/3 innings during the regular season. Carlos Marmol, Edinson Volquez and Jerry Hairston Jr. are also absent from the Dodgers' roster for the NLDS. Dee Gordon, Chris Withrow, Chris Capuano and Scott Van Slyke have made the cut.

Mike Trout departed Sunday's game versus the Marlins in the sixth inning with a left hand injury.

Trout jammed his hand into the second base bag on a stolen base attempt in the fifth inning. He initially remained in the game after a visit from the trainer but was then removed an inning later. The Angels should have an update on their star outfielder soon. Meanwhile, Trout's fantasy owners will hold their breath.

Madison Bumgarner (shoulder) could resume a throwing program on Friday.

It would be the first step in a lengthy rehab process. Bumgarner would begin with some light catch and then slowly build up his throwing progression. Once he's deemed ready for game action, he will need five rehab starts before rejoining the Giants' rotation. This is all assuming he progresses without a setback, which is far from a sure thing when you're coming back from a shoulder injury. Bumgarner won't be back until late July even in a best-case scenario.

Ben Zobrist (wrist) hopes to be back in the Cubs' lineup on Monday.

Zobrist tweaked his left wrist during an at-bat Friday and is out of the lineup Sunday for the second straight day. The Cubs are going with Javier Baez at second base and in the leadoff spot and an outfield of Ian Happ, Albert Almora and Jason Heyward.
May 28 - 2:28 PM

Brandon McCarthy (knee) expects to make his next scheduled start on Thursday in St. Louis.

An MRI has confirmed that McCarthy is dealing with patella tendinitis in his right knee, but it's something he said he's dealt with all season and he says he can pitch through it. The tall right-hander has allowed just one run on five hits and two walks across 12 innings in his last two starts.
May 28 - 2:13 PM

Jonathan Villar is batting seventh for the Brewers on Sunday.

Villar made a start in the No. 3 spot a little over a week ago, but that was the only other time he's hit anywhere other than leadoff. The 26-year-old is currently in a 6-for-36 slide at the dish that has his season line down to .213/.285/.330. Villar has been woeful against lefties this season (.514 OPS) and the Brewers are facing southpaw Patrick Corbin, so it's possible Villar will be back in the leadoff spot Monday when they go up against righty Robert Gsellman. Keon Broxton is batting leadoff Sunday. This is obviously a situation to keep an eye on, as it could have a big fantasy impact on both players.
May 28 - 12:49 PM

Cardinals placed 2B Kolten Wong on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 27, with a left elbow strain.

Wong first injured his elbow a week ago and it apparently just hasn't healed as hoped. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday in St. Louis to determine the severity of the injury. Greg Garcia and Jhonny Peralta will get more playing time with Wong out, and call-up Paul DeJong is also an option.
May 28 - 12:13 PM

Daniel Murphy (illness) remained out of the Nationals' lineup Sunday.

Murphy hasn't played since Thursday due to a stomach bug. He'll be back in there soon. Wilmer Difo is handling second base again.
May 28 - 12:09 PM

Bryce Harper is not in the Nationals' lineup Sunday.

Jayson Werth and Matt Wieters are also getting breathers, and Daniel Murphy (illness) remains out, as well. The Nats have Brian Goodwin in right field, Adam Lind in left, Jose Lobaton at catcher and Wilmer Difo at second base.
May 28 - 12:06 PM

Adam Jones (ankle, hip) remained out of the Orioles' lineup Sunday.

Jones is a little banged up and is getting a second straight day of rest. He's expected to be back in there Monday when the O's return home. Joey Rickard is getting another start in center field.
May 28 - 11:58 AM

Kendall Graveman (shoulder) will be placed on the disabled list prior to Monday's game in Cleveland.

It's been the assumption since he was scratched from Friday's start with more shoulder soreness. Graveman was on the DL last month with shoulder issues, as well, and his stay figures to be longer this time around. Daniel Mengden will replace him in the A's rotation.
May 28 - 11:50 AM

Francisco Lindor is not in the Indians' lineup Sunday.

It's a rare day off for the star shortstop. Erik Gonzalez is filling in.
