Ryan Langerhans has elected free agency.

Langerhans logged 11 at-bats in four games with the Blue Jays this season. The 33-year-old will likely have to settle for a spring training invite this winter.

Braden Shipley shut out the Dodgers for six innings to lead the Diamondbacks to a 4-2 victory on Saturday.

He fanned four batters, walked one and allowed five hits. He was making his second career start and this one went much better than the first. He improved his ERA from 10.13 to 4.76 tonight. Shipley is filling in for injured starter Zack Greinke. He didn't strike out many batters in the minor leagues and is probably not going to be a reliable fantasy starter this year even if he does remain in the Diamondbacks' rotation. The former 1st round pick is more enticing in dynasty leagues as he does have the potential to become a mid-range starter eventually.

Cameron Rupp went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and two runs scored as the Phillies downed the Braves 9-5 on Saturday.

Rupp came through with an RBI single in the second inning to get the scoring started. It was a much-needed evening for the 27-year-old, who had just three hits in his previous 25 at-bats coming into the game. Rupp is putting together a good offensive season behind the dish, batting .273/.327/.470 with 10 homers and 30 RBI overall.

Hernan Perez went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Brewers to a 5-3 win over the Pirates on Saturday.

Perez, getting a rare start in the third spot in the lineup with Ryan Braun sidelined, took Pirates starter Jameson Taillon deep for a two-run shot in the first inning to set the tone. He tacked on an RBI single in the seventh inning to extend the Brewers' lead. After years of relative obscurity, the 25-year-old is trying to make a name for himself in 2016, batting .283/.308/.444 with seven homers and 16 steals in 66 games.

The Indians and Brewers have reached an agreement on a trade that will send Jonathan Lucroy to Cleveland, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The parameters of the deal have been set but nothing is official yet. Lucroy would have to waive his no-trade clause to complete the deal, though that shouldn't be a major obstacle as Lucroy has made it clear he wants to play for a contender. Right now, the two sides are exchanging medicals. Per Rosenthal, the Brewers will receive four players from Cleveland including top catching prospect Francisco Mejia. Minor league OF Greg Allen and SS Yu-Cheng Chang will also head to Milwaukee if the deal goes through.

Dee Gordon went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and three runs scored as the Marlins skunked the Cardinals 11-0 on Saturday.

In his third game back from suspension, Gordon showed what the Marlins were missing, stealing his seventh base of the year and playing catalyst atop the lineup. The three runs give him 17 runs scored in 24 games this year. With a couple of good games in recent days, Gordon has his line up to .264/.291/.340 and climbing.
Jul 30 - 11:48 PM

Mitch Moreland whacked a walk-off home run to lead the Rangers over the Royals on Saturday.

The home run off Brooks Pounders landed in the upper deck in right field. It was his 17th home run of the season in 294 at-bats. He has hit for excellent power but has been mediocre in terms of batting average (.245) and on-base percentage (.311). Playing time has been sporadic for Moreland this year and is likely to remain that way.
Jul 30 - 11:44 PM

Yoenis Cespedes (quad) left Saturday's game against the Rockies for precautionary reasons.

He came out in the fifth inning after going 0-for-2 with a walk. The Mets are downplaying it but it's pretty evident that Cespedes is playing at less than 100 percent. He's been dealing with quad issues off and on for most of this month. Kelly Johnson took over in left field after Cespedes exited. We wouldn't be surprised if Cespedes got the day off on Sunday.
Jul 30 - 11:31 PM

Mike Napoli went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run as the Indians doubled up the Athletics 6-3 on Saturday.

His 23 homers are eighth-most in the American League, and he's sixth in the league with 70 RBI. It's the fifth time in his career that he's reached the 23-homer mark, and the first time since 2013. Napoli is hitting .246/.329/.486 in 95 games this year.
Jul 30 - 11:30 PM

Trevor Story left Saturday's game against the Mets with a jammed left thumb.

His X-rays came back negative and the Rockies are calling him day-to-day. Story went 1-for-2 with a single before exiting in the fourth inning. Cristhian Adames took his place at shortstop and will probably get the start there on Sunday.
Jul 30 - 10:57 PM

Justin Verlander struck out 11 while allowing two runs in a complete-game, 3-2 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Verlander was dominant for most of the evening, allowing just five hits and a walk, but the Astros turned three of those hits into two runs in the top of the ninth inning to put Verlander's gem in jeopardy. The Tigers offense came to his aid, though, scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to give Verlander his 11th win. The right-hander has been vintage Verlander for much of the year, posting a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 155/40 K/BB ratio over 147 1/3 innings. An interleague date with the Mets is on tap for Friday.
Jul 30 - 10:50 PM

Padres acquired OF Hector Olivera from the Braves in exchange for OF Matt Kemp; designated him for assignment.

He won't be officially DFA'd until Tuesday when he comes off the suspended list. Olivera's career has hit the skids following his April arrest for assault and battery. The 31-year-old obviously offers an intriguing skill set but it remains to be seen if anyone is willing to take on his off-field baggage. He's hit .245 with two homers and 13 RBI over 98 major league at-bats.
