Red Sox manager John Farrell made that news official on Monday afternoon. Lester will battle Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright on Wednesday night in Boston.

Troy Tulowitzki had a huge day at the plate on Friday against the Phillies, going 3-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, a walk, and two runs scored.

Tulo terrorized the Phillies on Friday, delivering a three-run homer in the second inning, an RBI double in the fourth, and an RBI single in the sixth. Oh, and he also drew a 14-pitch walk against Jonathan Pettibone in a four-run first inning. The veteran shortstop is hitting .360 (18-for-50) with eight extra-base hits (two home runs), 11 RBI, and a .460 on-base percentage through 16 games. It goes without saying, but he's a fantasy monster when healthy.

Jason Vargas spun seven scoreless frames in 5-0 win over the Twins on Friday night.

Vargas scattered seven hits (all singles) in the victory while walking just one batter and fanning four. The 31-year-old left-hander has been excellent so far this season, going at least seven innings in all four of his starts while allowing two runs or fewer in all of them. We don't expect the 1.24 ERA to last, but the Royals have to be thrilled with the early returns on their offseason investment.
Apr 19 - 12:59 AM

James Loney went 2-for-4 with four RBI in Friday's 11-5 win over the Yankees.

Loney knocked in two runs with a double in the fourth inning and later delivered a go-ahead two-run single off Adam Warren in the bottom of the seventh inning. The 29-year-old has hit safely in four out of his last five games, including two multi-hit games, but he's still hitting just .235 on the year. If he can't hit for average, he's pretty much useless in fantasy leagues.
Apr 19 - 12:24 AM

Jonathan Schoop was 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 8-4 win over the Red Sox.

The four hits were a career-high and included a pair of RBI doubles. The big night pulled his batting average up from .244 to .304. The 22-year-old has swung the bat better in recent days, so he's making a case to stick around even after Manny Machado (knee) comes off the disabled list.
Apr 19 - 12:00 AM

Leonys Martin homered, tripled and drove home four runs, leading the Rangers in a 12-0 rout of the White Sox in Texas on Friday.

Martin wound up 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in the game, finishing a double short of the cycle. He's doing everything in his power to show that he deserves to be hitting higher in the lineup, slashing .315/.373/.444 with a homer, nine RBI and two steals on the season.
Apr 18 - 11:29 PM

Martin Perez was terrific in his first career shutout on Friday, scattering just three hits and striking out nine against the White Sox.

Perez needed just 109 pitches to complete his masterpiece. The 23-year-old southpaw has been dominant through his first four starts, compiling a 1.86 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 20/7 K/BB ratio in 29 innings. He'll look to extend that success when he takes on the Athletics in Oakland on Wednesday.
Apr 18 - 11:16 PM

Howie Kendrick homered twice and drove home four runs, leading the Angels to an 11-6 win over the Tigers on Friday.

Serving as the team's DH and hitting in the cleanup spot seemed to come naturally to Kendrick. He tagged starter Drew Smyly with an opposite field two-run shot in the third inning, then blasted another off Luke Putkonen the following inning. He finished the night 3-for-5 and is now hitting .261/.320/.391 on the season.
Apr 18 - 11:01 PM

Aaron Harang threw seven no-hit innings in a win over the Mets on Friday.

Harang was pulled after throwing 121 pitches. Six walks cost him a chance to finish off the no-hit bid. The Mets finally got a hit when David Wright singled off Luis Avilan with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Some questioned the Braves' decision to release Freddy Garcia and sign Harang at the end of spring training, but things have worked out brilliantly for the Braves so far. Through four starts, the 35-year-old has a 0.70 ERA and 22/12 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings. He'll try to keep his surprising resurgence alive next week against the Marlins at home.
Apr 18 - 10:42 PM

Giancarlo Stanton blasted a walk-off grand slam off Yoervis Medina on Friday, powering the Marlins to an 8-4 victory.

Stanton had a huge night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, five RBI and also walked twice. He's been an absolute monster in the first few weeks of the season, slashing .329/.390/.657 with six homers and 26 RBI. As long as he can remain healthy, the sky is the limit.
Apr 18 - 10:36 PM

Carlos Gomez blasted his fifth home run of the season on Friday, powering the Brewers to a 5-3 victory over the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Gomez finished the night 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI. His long ball, a towering shot to center off Charlie Morton in the fifth inning, proved to be the difference maker in the ballgame. He’s off to a tremendous start to the season, hitting .329/.385/.629 with five homers and 12 RBI in his first 17 contests.
Apr 18 - 10:19 PM

Gio Gonzalez limited the Cardinals to just one run over seven innings Friday in a 3-1 win.

Nice to see after he was knocked around for six runs last time out. Gonzalez gave up just four hits (three of them singles) and one walk. The only run scored on an RBI single by Mark Ellis in the fourth inning. He struck out seven batters in the victory. Gonzalez now owns a 2.88 ERA and 24/8 K/BB ratio in 25 innings across four starts. He'll get the Angels next week.
