Felix Hernandez notched his MLB-leading seventh victory after tossing of one-run ball in a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Friday.

The only run scored on a solo homer from Edwin Encarnacion in the first inning. Otherwise, he was dominant, allowing just four hits in all against two walks and eight strikeouts. King Felix improved to 7-1 with the victory and now owns a 2.19 ERA and 63/14 K/BB ratio in 61 1/3 innings over nine starts. He's been exactly what fantasy owners were hoping for when they paid a high price in drafts this spring.

J.D. Martinez crushed a three-run homer in the third inning on Friday, leading the Tigers offensive attack in a 6-2 win over the Astros.

Martinez clobbered what looked to be a game-changing three-run homer to left field on the previous pitch, which hooked just foul at the last second. He then took the next Collin McHugh offering deep to right-center field to put the Tigers on top 3-2. He finished the night 2-for-3 and is now slashing .266/.337/.487 with nine homers and 21 RBI on the season.
May 22 - 10:17 PM

Nelson Cruz went 2-for-4 with his major league-leading 17th home run in a win over the Blue Jays on Friday.

It was a solo shot off Marco Estrada in the sixth inning. Cruz has multi-hit games in three out of the last four and currently leads the AL with a .354 batting average. Kendrys Morales pulled ahead in RBI with a big night Friday against the Cardinals, but Cruz isn't too far off the pace there either. He has 34 RBI for the year.
May 22 - 10:14 PM

Bryce Harper blasted his 16th home run of the season on Friday, powering the Nationals to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Phillies.

Harper victimized Sean O'Sullivan for the solo blast in the second inning, the third time that he's taken the young right-hander deep this season. He is in a class of his own at the plate right now, slashing a ridiculous .336/.475/.750 to go along with his 16 bombs and 39 RBI. While it's only May, he's the clear early favorite for National League MVP honors it what is shaping up to be a breakout season for the 22-year-old.
May 22 - 10:06 PM

Gerrit Cole struck out 10 batters and allowed just an unearned run over 8 1/3 innings in a 4-1 win over the Mets on Friday.

The only run scored on a wild pitch in the third inning. It was a dominant performance from Cole, who entered the ninth inning with a chance at his first career complete game. He was pulled with two on and one out, but Mark Melancon was able to finish off the victory. Cole scattered six hits and walked one in the victory and now owns a 2.05 ERA and 63/14 K/BB ratio in 57 innings through nine starts. He's looking like a potential Cy Young frontrunner.
May 22 - 9:59 PM

Hanley Ramirez was removed from Friday's game against the Angels due to soreness in his left hand.

Ramirez was drilled by a pitch there earlier in the ballgame. The fact that the score was 11-3 at the time may have also played a role in his early departure. He should be considered day-to-day.
May 22 - 9:34 PM

Wily Peralta was removed from Friday's start against the Braves after just four innings due to tightness in his left side.

He departed with a 10-0 lead, so to not stick around for another inning to earn the victory, so the team was clearly concerned about the issue. The Brewers should have an update on his status and potential timetable for his return shortly.
May 22 - 9:23 PM

Avisail Garcia was scratched from the White Sox starting lineup on Friday due to inflammation in his right knee.

The knee has been a constant issue for Garcia in recent weeks and has caused him to miss several games along the way. J.B. Shuck will start in his place on Friday and bat seventh against Phil Hughes and the Twins.
May 22 - 6:54 PM

Oswaldo Arcia (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

He shouldn't need more than a few games before being activated. Arcia is still feeling some discomfort in his right hip when he throws, so he's likely slated for designated hitter duty initially upon his activation from the disabled list.
May 22 - 5:27 PM

Devon Travis (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on June 1 when first eligible.

Travis was placed on the DL on Thursday after battling a left shoulder injury for a few days. It's a minor ailment, though, as he's been given a cortisone shot and should resume full workouts before long. The rookie had been scuffling at the dish of late before the DL move, batting just .162/.205/.243 over his previous 10 games.
May 22 - 5:07 PM

Danny Duffy's (shoulder) next scheduled start has been pushed back from Saturday to Tuesday.

Duffy is dealing with some stiffness in his pitching shoulder, which could at least partly explain his erratic performance of late. It doesn't appear to be something the Royals are overly concerned with since they're merely pushing him back a few days, but anytime the shoulder is involved there's some worry. Edinson Volquez and Yordano Ventura will move up a day but will be on regular rest.
