Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the White Sox have shown interest in Chase Headley.

Van Schouwen adds, however, that "indications are the Padres might wait until midseason to shop him," and that the third baseman "wouldn’t make much sense" for the Sox unless he agrees to an extension. The White Sox are slated to go into the 2014 season with a combination of Conor Gillaspie and Jeff Keppinger at third base, so it's no surprise they're looking to upgrade at the hot corner.

Bryce Harper will bat second in Tuesday's game against the Indians.

This is the other big change in Washington's lineup on Tuesday. Harper has been the primary No. 3 hitter for most of the year, but he was moved to the cleanup spot earlier this month. Now he'll shift to second as the Nationals try to get him going. He's batting .200/.313/.371 in 83 plate appearances this month. Wilson Ramos will bat third while Jayson Werth will hit cleanup.
Jul 26 - 3:38 PM

Trea Turner will start in center field Tuesday against the Indians.

Turner saw some time in center field in the minors, but this will be his first start at the position in the majors. He should see more time there with Ryan Zimmerman (rib cage) back from the disabled list. Turner is batting leadoff Tuesday while Ben Revere will play left and bat eighth. Jayson Werth is in the DH spot.
Jul 26 - 3:33 PM

Ichiro Suzuki is in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.

Ichiro, who is four hits away from 3,000 in MLB, will start in center field and bat leadoff against Jerad Eickhoff. Marcell Ozuna will be on the bench.
Jul 26 - 3:02 PM

Nationals activated 1B Ryan Zimmerman from the 15-day disabled list.

Zimmerman, out since early July with a left rib cage strain, went 5-for-12 (.417) with a homer over three games during his brief minor league rehab assignment. He'll return to a disappointing .221/.284/.402 batting line across 74 games.

Royals recalled INF Raul Mondesi from Triple-A Omaha.

In turn, the struggling Whit Merrifield has been sent down. Regarded as the Royals' top position prospect, Mondesi has missed a big chunk of the season after serving a 50-game PED suspension, but he has played well since his promotion to Triple-A earlier this month. His plate discipline is shaky, so we're not convinced he'll see immediate success in the majors, but the Royals are looking for a spark and his speed could come in handy in deeper fantasy leagues assuming he gets regular starts at second base. Mondesi, who turns 21 on Wednesday, made his major league debut in the World Series last year, but he has yet to appear in a regular season game.
Jul 26 - 2:23 PM

Athletics activated C/1B Stephen Vogt from the family medical leave list.

Vogt has been away from the team since Saturday. The A's optioned Matt McBride to Triple-A Nashville to clear a spot for his return.

Cardinals placed RHP Trevor Rosenthal on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 25, with right shoulder inflammation.

Specifically, he's dealing with a rotator cuff injury, which could help explain his struggles. Rosenthal walked three batters in his most recent appearance on Friday and hasn't shown any signs of turning things around since being removed from the closer role. He owns an ugly 5.13 ERA and 2.04 WHIP over 40 appearances this season. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, but he was already demoted to a lower-leverage role. The Cardinals figure to look to the trade market for bullpen help before August 1.

Blue Jays acquired OF Melvin Upton and cash considerations from the Padres for RHP Hansel Rodriguez.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears that the Padres will cover all but $5 million of the roughly $22 million remaining on Upton's contract. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a resurgent season with the Padres and will provide some depth and versatility to the Blue Jays' outfield. While the ballpark change is a positive, he might lose a couple of starts a week and probably won't run as much. His fantasy value takes a bit of a dip with the trade. Since the Padres are in Toronto this week, Upton will just have to switch dugouts on Tuesday.
Jul 26 - 11:04 AM

J.D. Martinez (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Toledo.

Martinez will be eased in as the DH as he makes his way back from a non-displaced fracture of the radial neck of his right elbow. He admitted Monday that he'll have to deal with pain for the rest of the season, but he wants to make it back with the Tigers still in the mix. "My bat worries me more than my throwing," said Martinez. "Timing-wise and arm-wise. I feel it puts more stress on my elbow hitting than it does throwing."
Jul 26 - 8:38 AM

Lorenzo Cain (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Omaha.

Cain, who has been out for about a month with a left hamstring strain, got the green light after doing some running over the weekend. Barring a setback, he appears on track for a return around the end of the month.
Jul 26 - 8:27 AM

Scooter Gennett singled and ripped a solo home run in Monday's victory over the Diamondbacks.

Gennett got the scoring going with a deep blast to center field in the first inning. It was one of four dingers the Brewers had on the night, as Jonathan Villar, Martin Maldonado and Andy Wilkins also went deep. Gennett has already tied his career high with nine home runs.
