ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that other clubs are "getting (the) feeling" that Eric O'Flaherty will re-sign with the Braves.

The Nationals, Dodgers and Phillies all reportedly have interest in the left-hander, but it appears O'Flaherty will probably stay in Atlanta. The southpaw won't be ready to contribute until sometime in May as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery but should be a weapon once he's healthy.

Rangers optioned RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez to Triple-A Round Rock.

The Rangers don't need him now that Matt Harrison is off the disabled list. Though it didn't last as long as he hoped, Gonzalez's first stint in the big leagues was a success. In seven starts, the right-hander posted a 3.74 ERA while limiting opponents to a .220 batting average. He even threw a shutout June 5 at Kansas City. He'll be back with Texas at some point this year.
Jul 4 - 5:51 PM

Josh Hamilton is not in the Rangers' lineup Saturday against the Angels.

He'll sit out against southpaw Hector Santiago. Ryan Rua will get the start in left field and bat second. Hamilton went 1-for-3 Friday in his first game against the Angels since getting traded earlier this year.
Jul 4 - 5:17 PM

Jeff Samardzija pitched brilliantly in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing just one run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

The Shark racked up nine strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. The only damage against him came on an inherited runner that rode home on Manny Machado's home run after Samardzija had departed. A popular name in trade rumblings, he'll carry a 4.33 ERA and 97/22 K/BB ratio into Thursday's start against the Blue Jays.
Jul 4 - 5:09 PM

Clay Buchholz allowed one run in a complete-game victory over the Astros on Saturday.

It was his ninth career complete game and his first since last August 31. Buchholz went into the top of the ninth with a chance at seventh career shutout, but Luis Valbuena hit a two-out RBI single. He fanned eight and walked none in the victory. Buchholz has been on quite the roll of late, allowing just three earned runs combined over his last four starts. His ERA is down to 3.27 for the year.
Jul 4 - 4:51 PM

David Price racked up seven strikeouts over seven strong innings in Saturday's victory over the Blue Jays.

The All-Star southpaw allowed just one run on eight hits and a walk over his seven frames. The only blemish against him on the afternoon was a solo homer off the bat of Kevin Pillar in the fifth inning. The clear ace of the Tigers staff, and pending free agent, has been terrific again this season, registering a 2.54 ERA and 107/22 K/BB ratio through 117 innings. He'll look to continue that dominance when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.
Jul 4 - 4:33 PM

Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk, and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Giants.

Using a special Fourth of July-themed bat, Harper took Madison Bumgarner deep in the first inning. Bumgarner hadn't given up a home run to a left-handed batter in 47 starts. Harper is now up to 25 home runs, which ties him with Cincinnati's Todd Frazier for second in the National League. He owns a ridiculous .344/.470/.719 batting line on the year.
Jul 4 - 2:39 PM

Tyler Moore was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI against the Giants on Saturday.

Moore doubled home a run in the fourth inning before hitting a two-run double in the sixth. He then added an RBI single in the seventh. It was his first three-hit game of the season. The 28-year-old is batting .227/.277/.400 in part-time duty this year.
Jul 4 - 2:37 PM

Stephen Strasburg was forced to leave Saturday's start against the Giants with an apparent oblique injury.

Strasburg came back from the disabled list to throw a pair of gems last week, then hurled 3 2/3 scoreless frames against the Giants on Saturday before the injury bit him. It's unclear how serious the injury is, or how long he may be sidelined, but it's once again terrible news for the Nationals and fantasy owners alike, just as he was starting to roll. The Nats should have an update on his status shortly.
Jul 4 - 12:46 PM

Miguel Cabrera is expected to be sidelined for six weeks with a grade 3 left calf strain.

The Tigers had hoped that he would be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break, but it appears that the All-Star slugger will be on the shelf until late August. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers look to acquire a bat to replace Cabrera in the lineup, or if his untimely injury will force Dave Dombrowski to become a seller at the trade deadline.
Jul 4 - 10:37 AM

Jedd Gyorko hit a game-tying homer in the seventh inning and a go-ahead RBI single in the ninth to help lead the Padres to a 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

Gyorko was just called up on June 30 to help fill in for the injured Cory Spangenberg (knee). He showed his worth on Friday when he homered off of the ever-dominant Michael Wacha in the seventh inning to tie the game at 1-1. He then helped ensure things wouldn't move to extras when he singled home Yangervis Solarte in the ninth inning to put the Padres up 2-1. Gyorko hit .283/.368/.500 with four home runs in 15 games for Triple-A El Paso after being sent down in early June and should see his share of playing time in the near future, though there's little to love on the fantasy front here.
Jul 4 - 1:21 AM

Michael Wacha continued to throw like one of the best pitchers in baseball on Friday, holding the Padres to just one run over seven innings in a 2-1 loss.

Wacha struck out six and walked just one. Only a Jedd Gyorko solo homer in the seventh inning prevented Wacha from the shutout. It also prevented him from picking up his 11th win of the year, as the homer tied the game at 1-1. With a 2.66 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 10-3 record, he's a near lock for the All-Star Game and should be in the Cy Young discussion at the end of the season assuming he stays healthy.
