Joel Sherman of the New York Post adds the Cubs to the long list of Logan Morrison suitors.

The Brewers, Pirates, Mariners, Rays and Orioles have also been mentioned as possible trade partners for the Fish. LoMo, 26, is highly likely to be moved this winter. The Cubs would presumably use him in a corner outfield role with Anthony Rizzo locked in at first base.

Yoenis Cespedes slugged a walk-off solo homer off Nick Wittgren in the 10th inning on Monday to lead the Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Marlins.

And there was no doubt about it from the moment in left his bat. It was his second career walk-off homer and his first since his debut season in the states in 2012. Cespedes was forced to sit out Sunday’s game in order to rest his quad, but he went 3-for-5 in his return to the lineup on Monday. The 30-year-old is batting .299/.370/.579 with 27 homers and 68 RBI through 103 games this season. The Mets will have to monitor the quad moving forward, but he’s capable of carrying the team down the stretch.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia slugged a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning of Monday's win over the White Sox.

It was a back-and-forth affair between the two division rivals, but Salty's dinger off of tough reliever Nate Jones put the Tigers up for good. He plays second fiddle to James McCann and is batting just .192/.306/.404 overall this season, but Saltalamacchia has pretty much given the Tigers what they were hoping for with 12 home runs.

Mookie Betts smacked his 30th home run of the season in Monday's win over the Rays.

Betts' dinger to lead off the bottom of the second inning got the scoring going, and he added an RBI double in the fifth. The young outfielder entered the season with 23 homers over 867 plate appearances and has reached the 30-homer plateau in 2016 in 596 plate appearances. Betts is also just four RBI short of 100.

Tanner Roark yielded only four hits and one walk across seven shutout innings in Monday's 4-0 victory over the Phillies.

All four base hits were singles, and Roark recorded five strikeouts. The Phils never advanced past second base against the right-hander all night. It's the eighth time this season that Roark has gone seven or more scoreless innings in a start this season, which is the highest total in the big leagues. He'll bring a 2.87 ERA into New York against the Mets this weekend.

Sean Manaea was diagnosed with a right rhomboid strain.

In other words, he's dealing with a sore back. Manaea was forced to exit Monday's start against the Astros after 3 1/3 innings, but the Athletics are calling him day-to-day.
Aug 29 - 10:03 PM

Josh Donaldson slugged a solo homer and drew a walk in Monday’s win over the Orioles.

Not quite a three-homer game like Sunday, but it will do. Donaldson has slugged six homers over his last five games, which gives him 34 for the year. With a .294/.407/.582 batting line, he’s picking up momentum as a potential repeat winner of the AL MVP Award.

Cameron Maybin exited Monday's game against the White Sox with an apparent injury to his left thumb.

Uh oh. Maybin made his return last weekend after missing a couple of weeks with a left thumb sprain and it appears that he aggravated the injury while attempting to steal second base in the fifth inning. The Tigers should pass along an update soon. Tyler Collins replaced Maybin in the lineup.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Monday that it's possible Clayton Kershaw (back) could be activated depending on how he feels in his simulated game on Tuesday.

Kershaw hasn't pitched in game since June 26, but he made it through a 60-pitch bullpen session on Friday and is slated to face hitters on Tuesday. It would be aggressive to bring him back after that, but the minor league season is coming to a close. It would be a huge boost to Dodgers fans and fantasy owners if he can come back and be even 80 percent of his usual self. Stay tuned.

Pirates placed RHP Gerrit Cole on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 25, with posterior inflammation in his right elbow.

The move clears a spot for Monday's starter, Steven Brault. An MRI has ruled out structural damage in Cole's elbow, but he was scheduled to get a second opinion in Los Angeles. There should be more clarity on his status in the next couple of days.
Aug 29 - 7:03 PM

Justin Turner is not in Monday's lineup against the Rockies.

Turner will sit for the series opener at Coors Field, which is unfortunate news for fantasy owners who were excited about the matchup. Rob Segedin is getting the start at third base and will bat eighth against Jon Gray.
Aug 29 - 5:14 PM

Junior Guerra (elbow) will be activated from the disabled list to start Friday against the Pirates.

Guerra, out since early August due to right elbow inflammation, threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday. The 31-year-old rookie has posted a surprising 2.93 ERA over 107 1/3 innings this season and should be stashed away in fantasy leagues in anticipation of his return.
