Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Twins have agreed to terms with Kurt Suzuki on a one-year contract.

The deal will become official later Friday assuming Suzuki passes his physical. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says it's for $2.75 million, with more possible in incentives. The Twins were looking for a veteran backstop to pair with youngster Josmil Pinto and they now have one in Suzuki. The 30-year-old's offense has declined the last few years (he batted just .232/.290/.337 in 2013), but he offers a strong glove and has a reputation as a good clubhouse guy.

Bryce Harper (quad) is back in the Nationals' starting lineup Thursday night against the Cardinals.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reports that Pagan is "playable" but that he wanted to practice caution here in mid-April. Pagan should return to action Friday.

Chase Headley (biceps) is out of the Padres' starting lineup again on Thursday versus the Rockies.

Headley is considered day-to-day with a right biceps strain. Alexi Amarista is playing third base.

Hanley Ramirez (hand) is hoping to start Friday.

Ramirez was held out of the Dodgers' starting lineup on Thursday after taking a pitch off his left hand on Wednesday night. X-rays were taken and turned up negative. Justin Turner is playing shortstop Thursday.

Mark Teixeira (hamstring) played three innings at extended spring training on Thursday afternoon.

Teixeria is eligible to return from the disabled list on Sunday and told George King III of the New York Post that he will be "disappointed" if the Yankees don't activate him. He's been out since April 5 with a hamstring strain.

Jason Kipnis was ejected from Thursday's game against the Tigers after a third-inning swinging strikeout.

Kipnis was angry about a low-in-the-zone called strike earlier in the at-bat. He fanned with the bases loaded and also grounded into a doubleplay in the first inning. Mike Aviles came on to play second base. It was the first ejection of Kipnis' major league career.

Clayton Kershaw (back) threw a successful 35-pitch bullpen session on Thursday afternoon.

Cardinals placed RHP Joe Kelly on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Kelly suffered the injury Wednesday afternoon at Miller Park while trying to leg out a groundball to first base in the top of the fifth inning. Jose Reyes (hamstring) is now expected to rejoin the Blue Jays on Saturday in Cleveland.

The weather looks iffy for Friday's series-opener with the Indians, and the Jays don't want to risk Reyes returning to a cold and muddy infield. The 30-year-old shortstop left Toronto's series-opener on March 31 with hamstring inflammation. He did not suffer a strain.
