Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers are "still talking" to Michael Young.

The Dodgers wouldn't mind having Young back as a backup infielder, but the 37-year-old is reportedly considering retirement. The Yankees have also expressed interest in Young, who batted .279/.335/.395 with eight homers and 46 RBI in 147 games last season between the Phillies and Dodgers.

Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead the Athletics over the Angels 7-3 on Saturday.

Valencia has quietly put up a fantastic .333/.381/.552 slash line with 11 home runs in 201 at-bats. He has played well in limited time in recent years, registering an .888 OPS in 2013 and an .864 OPS last year. So there is good reason to believe the 32-year-old veteran can continue to help fantasy teams all season long. He delivers a nice mix of power and average. The reason he has rarely been an everyday player throughout his career is because he has large platoon splits, being much more deadly versus left-handed pitching.

Matt Wieters went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI as the Orioles took the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays by the score of 8-6.

Wieters, who didn't start the first game of the doubleheader, made his start count, smashing a two-run homer off Rays starter Jake Odorizzi in the fourth inning before adding a solo shot off reliever Danny Farquhar in the eighth. Wieters now has nine big flies on the year, batting .278/.332/.471 through 53 games.

Jose Altuve's epic season rolls on as he smacked four hits, including a home run and two doubles, in Saturday's 13-5 thrashing of the Royals.

Altuve is now batting .348 with 13 home runs and a .994 OPS. Add in his 54 runs scored, 44 RBI and 18 stolen bases and you get possibly the most valuable player in fantasy baseball this year. Not bad for the smallest player in the game. He is only two homers behind his career high set last year.
Jun 25 - 11:34 PM

Kelly Johnson's solo home run broke a scoreless tie in the 11th inning Saturday, leading the Mets to a 1-0 victory over the Braves.

Johnson led off the 11th inning as a pinch-hitter, and he took reliever Dario Alvarez deep for what turned out to be the only run of the contest. The homer was Johnson's third of the season and his second with the Mets; his first came as a member of the Braves, the team he defeated Saturday. The utilityman is batting .233/.297/.347 overall.

DJ LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored as the Rockies pounded the Diamondbacks 11-6 on Saturday.

LeMahieu had one of the team's three home runs on the day, his fifth homer of the year. The second baseman has been terrific in his last six games, going 13-for-28 with four RBI and five runs scored. The good stretch is a microcosm of what has been a stellar first half for the 27-year-old, who's batting .328/.392/.500 with 46 runs scored overall.
Jun 25 - 10:42 PM

Andrew McCutchen hit a solo homer in the fourth inning, then trumped that with a three-run bomb in the sixth to carry the Pirates to a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday.

The two home runs give McCutchen 12 for the season. He has been a major disappointment for his fantasy owners so far this year but he gave them a big treat today. McCutchen played poorly in the early part of last season before coming on strong in the second half, perhaps today is an indication he will repeat that cycle this year. He is now batting .243 with 41 runs, 32 RBI and only two steals.
Jun 25 - 10:37 PM

Chris Carter went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored as the Brewers edged the Nationals 6-5 on Saturday.

Carter's three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning got the scoring started. It was his 19th homer of the season -- third-most in the National League -- giving him 47 RBI and 36 runs scored. The 29-year-old is batting .229/.305/.508 in 72 games this season.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny has removed Trevor Rosenthal from the closer role.

It's jarring to see one of the best closers in baseball demoted to a setup role but Matheny is making the right move. Rosenthal has unraveled this month, pitching to a nightmarish 14.14 ERA over his last 10 outings. Friday's meltdown against Seattle was the nail in the coffin. Matheny says the Cardinals will go with a closer by committee with Seung Hwan Oh, Jonathan Broxton and Kevin Siegrist all getting save chances. All three are worth speculative adds. Rosenthal is too good to be banished from the ninth inning permanently, but it may take some time for him to win back Matheny's trust.
Jun 25 - 9:03 PM

Justin Bour homered in his third straight game, racking up three RBI, as the Marlins outlasted the Cubs 9-6 on Saturday.

Bour is as hot as the day is long, as he's now got four homers in his last six games and is hitting .339 with five homers, 17 RBI and 11 runs scored in the month of June. His home run Saturday was a two-run job, and he also added an RBI double. Bour has 10 home runs, 43 RBI and 27 runs scored with a .273/.342/.535 line on the year.
Jun 25 - 8:59 PM

Stephen Strasburg (back) has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Brewers.

Strasburg was hoping to return Sunday after missing his last start Monday against the Dodgers but his back flared up again. After his latest setback, Strasburg is likely headed to the disabled list. Tanner Roark has been tabbed as Sunday's starter. He'll try to help the Nationals end their seven-game losing streak.
Jun 25 - 8:16 PM

Drew Pomeranz threw seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, to lead the Padres to a 3-0 victory over the Reds on Saturday.

Pomeranz yielded a double and two singles on the afternoon, walking just one while striking out six. He also helped himself at the plate, hitting his first home run of the year and collecting two RBI. Pitching is what he's best at, though, and the 27-year-old is now 7-7 with a 2.76 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 102/39 K/BB ratio over 88 innings of work. He'll try to continue his breakout first half Saturday against the Yankees.
