David Price said there's no cause for concern after he chose to skip a bullpen session Wednesday.

"Just took a day off," Price said. "I didn't see the need to throw three bullpen sessions in the first five days of camp. I thought some other guys would take a day off, too." The decision raised some eyebrows, but it appears there's no reason to think anything is wrong with the left-hander. Rays manager Joe Maddon and pitching coach Jim Hickey confirmed there's nothing to worry about.

Alex Wood is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a left triceps injury.

Wood apparently suffered the injury near the end of his five-inning start Monday against the Cubs. Julio Urias is going to take his spot in the rotation this weekend versus the Braves -- a nice matchup for the young lefty. Wood had registered a decent 3.99 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 62/19 K/BB ratio over 56 1/3 innings (10 starts) this season for Los Angeles.

Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) could join the Reds' rotation next week against the Cardinals.

He struck out seven batters over four innings of one-run ball Monday in his second rehab start with Triple-A Louisville. DeSclafani will make one more minor league appearance on Saturday before possibly taking the ball for the Reds next Thursday versus St. Louis. The right-hander has been out all season with an oblique strain. He was a popular fantasy sleeper before the injury and is worth a stash in deeper leagues.

Kenta Maeda has some residual swelling in his right hand and might not pitch Thursday.

Maeda was struck in the hand by a comebacker in his last start Saturday against the Mets. X-rays turned up negative, but even a little swelling can affect the right-hander's delivery. Maeda was lined up to start Thursday's series finale at Wrigley Field.

Jose Reyes (suspension) will join Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday for a rehab assignment.

Reyes has been getting into baseball shape for the last two weeks at the Rockies' spring training complex in Arizona and can begin playing in live games June 1, when his domestic violence suspension officially comes to an end. The veteran shortstop is expected to spend two weeks in the minor leagues. Beyond that, it's not exactly clear what the plan is.
May 31 - 5:59 PM

Steve Pearce (elbow) is back in the Rays' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

He'll start at second base and bat cleanup versus Royals right-hander Dillon Gee. Pearce made an early exit Monday with elbow discomfort, but he told reporters Tuesday that it's nothing more than inflammation.
May 31 - 5:41 PM

Yunel Escobar (wrist) remains out Tuesday.

Escobar bruised his right wrist Sunday while diving for a ball and hasn't played since. He is still considered day-to-day. Jefry Marte will start at third base and bat fifth Tuesday night against the Tigers.
May 31 - 5:20 PM

Stephen Piscotty (illness) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Piscotty missed Monday's series opener at Milwaukee Park with food poisoning. He is starting in right field and batting cleanup in his return to action Tuesday versus Brewers right-hander Wily Peralta.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Braves are finalizing a trade that will send veteran reliever Jason Grilli to the Blue Jays.

It sounds like the negotiations could be wrapped up at some point Tuesday night. Grilli was sporting a rough 5.29 ERA, 1.71 WHIP, and 23/13 K/BB ratio through 17 innings this season out of the Atlanta bullpen. This is his age-39 campaign. Atlanta will get minor league right-hander Sean Ratcliffe in return, per Robert Murray of BaseballEssential.com.
May 31 - 4:44 PM

Ryan Braun (neck) is back in the Brewers' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Cardinals.

Braun acknowledged Monday that he doesn't have full mobility in his neck, but he'll try to give it a go in the second game of a three-game set at Miller Park. He missed three straight days with neck stiffness.
May 31 - 4:42 PM

According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Rangers have discussed keeping Jurickson Profar around after Rougned Odor's suspension ends.

Hanser Alberto would also remain on the active roster and the Rangers would go with a seven-man bullpen. Profar is 6-for-18 (.333) since his callup on Friday and he was slashing 284/.356/.426 with five homers and four steals in 189 plate appearances this season with Triple-A Round Rock. The former top prospect might have finally found some footing at the major league level, though it's still pretty loose.
May 31 - 4:36 PM

Trayce Thompson (back) is in the Dodgers' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Cubs.

He will start in left field and bat fifth versus Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta. Thompson missed a couple of games in a row with some minor soreness in his back.
