Casey Janssen (shoulder) will resume throwing this week.

Janssen was shut down Saturday in camp after reporting some soreness in his right shoulder. The Blue Jays called that move precautionary, but this remains a situation worth monitoring throughout the spring. Sergio Santos is probably next in line for saves in Toronto.

Reds activated C Devin Mesoraco from the 10-day disabled list.

Mesoraco will join up with the Reds in St. Louis on Friday for the start of a three-game weekend series against the Cardinals. He struggled on his lengthy minor league rehab assignment and probably won't be an everyday player out of the gate, so the possibility of meaningful fantasy production seems low. Hip and shoulder injuries have limited the 28-year-old former slugger to 39 games since the beginning of the 2015 season.
Apr 27 - 12:56 PM

Carlos Gonzalez is not in the Rockies' starting lineup Thursday afternoon against the Nationals.

Gerardo Parra will start in right field and Pat Valaika will start in left in the series finale versus Washington. It looks to be a routine day of rest for CarGo, though he did suffer a bruised right hand last week.
Apr 27 - 12:34 PM

Aaron Sanchez (finger) is on track to return to the Blue Jays' rotation Sunday versus the Rays.

Sanchez made it through a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday without issue and he'll throw off the mound again Friday as his final tune-up before that Sunday start. The young right-hander underwent minor surgery on April 18 to remove part of the nail on his right middle finger. He can be plugged back into fantasy rotations right away.
Apr 27 - 12:05 PM

Tigers activated SS Jose Iglesias from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Iglesias cleared MLB's concussion protocol and will return to the shortstop position for Detroit in Thursday afternoon's series finale against the Mariners. He's batting .267/.298/.444 with one home run and two stolen bases in 13 games this season.
Apr 27 - 11:31 AM

Cesar Hernandez is getting the day off Thursday against the Marlins.

Andres Blanco will fill in at second base and Daniel Nava will take a turn at leadoff in the Phillies' series finale versus Miami. Hernandez has put up an impressive .321/.360/.536 batting line with four home runs and three stolen bases in 19 games this season.
Apr 27 - 10:43 AM

Kyle Seager (hip) is back in the Mariners' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon.

Seager wound up missing four games because of a sore hip. He is starting at third base and batting fifth Thursday versus Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander.
Apr 27 - 10:40 AM

Noah Syndergaard has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday against the Braves due to biceps tendinitis.

Matt Harvey will take the mound in his place. Mets manager Terry Collins described Syndergaard's injury as a "tired arm" and said "we can't take a chance on this guy." The ace right-hander is being sent for an MRI, and the results of that exam should paint a clearer picture about his status moving forward. There's a possibility he could pitch Sunday in Washington if everything checks out fine.
Apr 27 - 10:35 AM

Sean Manaea (shoulder) said it's possible he could make his next scheduled start.

Manaea was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Angels after experiencing shoulder tightness, but he's dealt with a similar issue in the past and it went away in a couple of days. There are no tests planned currently. We should know more once it comes time for him to throw his between-starts bullpen session. The young left-hander is currently lined up to face the Twins on the road next Tuesday.
Apr 27 - 9:05 AM

Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-5 with a three-run blast and scored three runs in a 14-3 barn-burner of a win over the Twins.

He hit his three-run shot in the eighth inning not long after Ryan Rua hit his grand slam in the same frame. Choo had already tripled and scored earlier in the inning. He suffered through an injury-plagued 2015 season that saw him play in just 48 games. He got off to a very slow start this year but has turned things around in recent days. Choo is getting old (turns 35 in July) but when healthy is still capable of big things in fantasy leagues -- especially those that use on-base percentage. He is now batting .258/.380/.394 with two homers, 11 runs and 10 RBI.
Apr 27 - 1:30 AM

Brandon Drury left Wednesday's game against the Padres with a jammed right knee.

He suffered the injury in a collision with Padres starter Trevor Cahill at first base. Drury singled and walked twice before exiting. After he left, Chris Owings moved from shortstop to second base with Nick Ahmed taking over at shortstop. Drury is day-to-day.
Apr 27 - 12:09 AM

Tim Beckham went 3-for-5 and drilled two solo home runs but the Rays still lost to the Orioles on Wednesday.

He homered in the third and again in the fifth to draw the Rays within a run, but they ultimately fell in extra innings. Beckham has been serving as the starting shortstop since the season began in the absence of the injured Matt Duffy. Beckham has hit well enough that there could be a position battle when Duffy returns to action. Beckham is hitting .280/.299/.493 with four homers, 10 runs scored and eight RBI in 78 plate appearances.
