Rangers designated RHP Daniel McCutchen for assignment.

The move clears a spot for Colby Lewis on the 25-man and 40-man rosters. McCutchen made one appearance during his time with the big club and could pass through waivers unclaimed.

Major League Baseball has extended the administrative leave for Roberto Osuna for another week through June 25.

It's a paper move with Osuna's legal situation looming. The Blue Jays' closer was arrested May 8 for allegedly assaulting a woman and won't have his next court date until July 9. His lawyer, Domenic Basile, said Monday that his client intends to plead not guilty. It could be a while under there's a resolution here.

The Astros have promoted general manager Jeff Luhnow while extending his contract through 2023.

Luhnow originally joined the Astros as general manager in December of 2011, but his new title will be president of baseball operations and general manager. He's deserving of the promotion and new deal coming off a World Series championship. The club is currently 1.5 games ahead of the Mariners in the AL West with a 48-25 record.

Javier Baez (elbow) is out of Monday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Baez hinted as much during a radio appearance on Monday. The 25-year-old was hit in the left elbow by a pitch Sunday, but fortunately he avoided serious injury. Consider him day-to-day. Ben Zobrist will start at second base Monday.

Phillies optioned RHP Hector Neris to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Neris gave up four runs (including two homers) during his most recent appearance on Sunday and has allowed nine runs on 15 hits (including five homers) over his last eight innings of work dating back to late May. The Phillies will try to get their former closer back on track against some lesser competition. Seranthony Dominguez would appear to be the favorite for saves in Philadelphia's bullpen.

Brett Gardner said that while he's "encouraged" by how his right knee feels, he's going to sit out the second game against the Nationals on Monday.

Gardner missed Sunday's game due to right knee soreness and can be considered day-to-day. The Yankees have reportedly called up Clint Frazier to provide some depth as the 26th man, though the club has yet to make an official announcement.

Kevin Kiermaier (thumb) is on track to be activated from the disabled list Friday.

Kiermaier is 7-for-17 (.412) with a triple and a double through five rehab games between High-A Charlotte and Triple-A Columbus as he makes his way back from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. The 28-year-old was batting just .163/.250/.233 over his first 12 games prior to the injury, but he was very productive when healthy last year and is worth scooping up in mixed fantasy leagues if he was dropped.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Mets are ready to listen to trade offers for "virtually everyone" on their roster.

Rosenthal notes that the Mets would understandably prefer to keep their young, controllable talent, but he also adds that the club is more open to moving Noah Syndergaard (under team control through 2021) than staff ace Jacob deGrom (under team control through 2020). Obviously it would take a huge haul for them to part with either pitcher, but they are keeping an open mind. Probably the most realistic name to be moved is closer Jeurys Familia, who is due to become a free agent following the season. Asdrubal Cabrera also makes sense as a possible trade chip for New York.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Yankees and Mariners are both expressing interest in Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ.

The Blue Jays are coming off a surprising three-game sweep of the Nationals, but they're buried in fourth place in the American League East standings and are likely to launch into selling mode within the next several weeks, ahead of the July 31 deadline. Happ has seemingly emerged as Toronto's most valuable trade chip with Josh Donaldson battling health issues. The veteran left-hander holds a 3.48 ERA, 1.065 WHIP, and 94/25 K/BB ratio in 82 2/3 innings (14 starts) this season. He's making $13 million in the final year of a three-year, $36 million deal.

Roberto Osuna's first court date in connection with his sexual assault charge will be "a largely procedural hearing" and the Blue Jays closer will not attend it, per Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca.

That hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Old City Hall courthouse in Toronto. Criminal defense lawyer Domenic Basile will appear on Osuna's behalf for pre-trial discussions that "will set the stage for the next court hearing, possibly in two or three weeks," writes Davidi. Osuna has been on Major League Baseball's administrative leave list since his arrest May 8 for allegedly assaulting a woman. A resolution to this case is clearly not imminent.

Jack Flaherty delivered another terrific start in Sunday's victory over the Cubs, scattering two hits and three walks over five shutout innings.

The right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the night. The only thing that he didn't do well in this one, was be efficient with his pitches, needing 97 pitches (52 strikes) to get through his five frames. Through 10 starts with the Cardinals, he's now 4-2 with an outstanding 2.66 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 55/14 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings. He'll look to keep it rolling in a difficult matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Friday.

Nomar Mazara (wrist) returned to the starting lineup Sunday against the Rockies and he finished 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBI.

Mazara was scratched from the lineup on Friday and he did not play Saturday due to a sore left wrist. The injury was not hindering him in the interleague series finale, as he was sharp at the dish. Feel free to plug him back into the active lineup for the new week since he showed no ill-effects of the injury.
